toph never really reacts to sokka’s compliments (and when she does she’ll reply with a sarcastic comment or a playful insult) but she remembers every single one for years

sokka is the only one who can tell when toph is actually upset versus when she’s just being grumpy and the same goes for toph when sokka is really hurt versus when he’s just being dramatic

99% of sokka’s inventions were made with toph in mind whether because he thinks she’ll like the design or use or to make her life easier

whenever toph gets injured she always downplays it but sokka never buys the act and will treat her wounds despite her attempts to convince him that she’s fine

their idea of flirting is insults and deadpan sarcasm to the point where if someone heard they’d think they hate each other’s guts

toph secretly likes listening to sokka ramble because his voice helps her relax when she’s stressed

when they finally get together, none of the people that don’t know them well realise it for months because their behaviour with each other doesn’t change at all

late night conversations, whether it’s just them sitting next to each other, offering quiet support and a shoulder to cry on, or them revealing their deepest secrets and thoughts that they haven’t shared with anyone else, are their unofficial dates

whenever they got out to try new cuisines, because sokka knows how toph can be with unfamiliar territory, he always gets what she likes just in case she wants to switch.

toph will lean on sokka casually from time to time and sokka will immediately stop everything he’s doing, including breathing, in hopes she stays there for longer

they both prefer showing gratitude and affection through actions rather than words, sokka cooks her favorite meals or makes her something either useful or cool in general and toph will join him on one of his travels and offer her support, or get him something he’d like

they’re the type of couple that are best friends first and foremost so any information or gossip reaches one of them, it’s better to assume that the other knows already
