Din was quiet for a moment. He had barely wrapped his head around the whole thing himself, he wasn’t sure how he was supposed to explain it to someone else. “Your future. My past. Well, sort of. We were together when I was pulled to this time.” He settled on. “We were parts of Death Watch that broke away, those who didn’t agree with their practices. You called us a cult.”
He hadn’t told the Bo-Katan of the future his name, and he wasn’t sure about telling this version either. “You can call me Mando. We were only allied to invade an Imperial remnant’s ship. He had my ad. And the darksaber. It was the only reason we were in the same place.”
He shifted a little, looking down at Grogu “My creed doesn’t allow for anyone other than clan to know my name and face.” He added.
bo-katan shook her head, he had not just said the words your future, my past, because that would be insane, time travel wasn’t real, no matter what technological advances the galaxy had cooked up, time travel wasn’t real. pulled into this time, parts of death watch that broke away, ❝how —❞ she had begun to say, because the words might be those of someone who had lost their mind, but he sounded so calm, and as far as she knew there were only a handful who would now about the darksaber. she continued to listen to his story, looked at the child in his arms, ❝a foundling❞ she whispered, if the beskar was not enough, it was the mandalorian way to protect foundlings at all costs, cult or not, the man in front of her was a mandalorian.
❝how long ago— how old was i? when we met in —❞ and the she was lost again, past, future, did it really matter if mandalore was gone? everyone she ever loved and cared for, gone. ❝when are we right now? the jedi were slaughtered barely a few weeks ago, but—not a single imperial flag remains, how long ... how many years am i missing from—❞ this was not the time to get emotional, no matter how much she wanted nothing more than being able to feel scared, oh how she missed her sisters. ❝korkie was a child when i last saw him, how old is he?❞ she asked unsure if she really wanted to know.

Sabe had been moving through the Outer Rim for a little while, gathering data, any details or information she could bring to the New Rebellion on Onderon, or give to Padme for use as she saw fit, but thing s were getting more strained and after a little too close to call skirmish with what looked like spice runners, she figured it was time to get home. Luckily not many things could keep up with her starfighter. Maybe she could go to Naboo and hideaway for sometime at the family lakehouse. But she knew the work was important and she wanted to see what others knew about the small bag of kybercrystals she relieved one of the Pyke’s of too. So many questions.
The sudden loss of onboard systems for a moment and then not able to reach, well anything, was more than unnerving. She shouldn’t have been thinking about Naboo, she thought to herself as she dropped out of subspace. Luckily there were planetoid body’s and after some scary atmosphere hoping Sabe realized she was at Coruscant, and at least that was familiar. Plus things looked a mess as she got closer to the surface, and managed to find a hangar for th ship. She wanted out and looked around, wondering where to start first to figure out what the hell was happening.
bo-katan wasn’t sure what exactly she had been hoping for, or even why she still had any hope left, the things she had lived, the things she had learned when she came through the rift, they should be enough to make anyone feel defeated. but mandalorians are stubborn, and they had survived this long, they would survive again, even if home was gone. but of course the loss of communication had only made contacting anyone who might be out there even harder. still bo-katan had to try.
when news of a possible mandalorian sighting on coruscant reached her, bo knew she had to go, even if it turned out to be just a rumour. a part of her knew there were bigger things to worry about, but for her there was only her people. what she had not expected was the utter chaos every world still seemed to be experiencing, and coruscant was thousand times worse than the worlds she had visited. by cheer luck bo managed to find a space to land, and that’s when she spotted a familiar face. it wasn’t until she was way too close to turn around and walk away, that she realized her mistake. so bo had no option but to apologize, ❝i did not mean to come up to you so abruptly, but i thought you were someone i used to know❞ well that her sister used to know.
of all the things bo had learned about the time she could no longer remember, few had hurt as much as losing her homeworld. and nothing had prepared her for coming face to face with her nephew. she wondered how much of the determined bright eyed boy who had helped her rescue satine was still left, from the little information she had gathered it was clear the time she no longer remembered had not been kind to them. she had grown more bitter, if that was even possible, she only hoped korkie had not lost himself in whatever quest bo-katan had dragged him into. the hopes bo had that he would one day rule mandalore still flooded her mind, whether he would still be interested in doing so was yet to be discovered.
❝korkie❞ bo-katan called out, she had followed directions to the safe house on bellassa, which had not being easy, the galaxy still trying to recover from the devastation bo had seen upon her arrival on this timeline.
“The planet is still there. But no one goes to Mandalore. It’s cursed.” Din said quietly. “As far as I know, there’s no one left.” He said apologetically. He knew a thing or two about losing your family.
“I…don’t really understand it. I think it’s a force thing.” Din said, shaking his head “Many people were dragged through time. From the past and future. I’ve met several who came from right before their deaths. Jango Fett, clone troopers, Jedi.”
“Yes. He’s is from the same covert as I am.” Din said, trying to recall what Bo-Katan had said before “Children of the Watch is what you called us. Before I was brought here.”
it was taking bo-katan longer than she had wanted or imagined, to caught up with the words that the mandalorian was saying, there was so much she wanted to ask, but every knew thing just brought even more questions. there was a part of her that simply wished not to learn about it anymore, but how could she just ignore the fate of her homeworld? or her people? there was however a more pressing issue at hand.
❝a force thing❞ she whispered to herself, whatever her feelings for the jedi had been bo knew that everything the empire said were lies, she had met the jedi, fought by their side, and had been devastated hearing about their fate even if she had not let anyone know about it, but how could this be then? there were no jedi left to create a rift or whatever the mandalorian had called it. ❝past and future...❞ bo-katan asked and shook her head, something wasn’t quite clicking for her.
❝death watch❞ bo-katan whispered, a memory she had tried to forget, it had been the beginning of the end, she never should’ve gone against her sister. ❝i— i called you that? we’ve met before?❞ with a raised eyebrow bo took a few steps towards the mandalorian, ❝what is your name? when did we met? i certainly would not forget someone wearing that much beskar...❞
the journey had been uneventful for the most part, with comms down all across the galaxy bo had been expecting trouble, but was glad she had not brought any trouble to the mandalorian and the foundling in his care, a may we met again and she was on her way. naboo had been a smart choice, while unable to use comm relays, just as the rest of the galaxy, they were at least more advanced and organized, so smaller vessels could be guided for landing without major casualties, bo could barely begin to imagine how it was elsewhere. but she was here, and all she had to do now was find satine’s old friend, the senator, and then she might be able to help bo contact korkie, and anyone who might be out there.
there was a lot bo-katan did not like about naboo, too peaceful for her taste, but at least everyone minded their own business, or perhaps times had change as she hardly got any stares in her full armor. still she did not expect it would be easy to get information in regards to a politician’s whereabouts, but bo would wait for as long as it was needed. lost in her plans she almost missed it, out of the corner of her eye, a familiar figure, a ghost, her breath caught in her throat and she short of broke into a run. reaching the person bo put a hand on their shoulder and spun them around.

It still made him twitch and frown when he saw a Mandalorian remove their helmet. But he knew no one else adhered to they rule.
“The empire glassed it. From what I know, they didn’t care for the Mandalore’s resistance.” Din said, sighing heavily “I’m not from Mandalore, I can’t tell you what happened. But the empire fell fairly recently. The New Republic rules now.”
He shifted a little. Not really sure what to tell her really “Uh no. He was dragged through the rift like a lot of people.” He told her “He’s in a relationship with my brother. If I can get in touch with him, I’ll know exactly where.” He didn’t offer Paz’s name. That would be up to Paz if he wanted to disclose it. He didn’t know how secretive his brother was now that they were the only two left.
bo-katan had never thought of herself as a sentimental person, but she could not help but think about her home planet, her people, ❝is there nothing left? no one left?❞ she understood what he was saying, that he could not give her the information she wanted, needed, but the questions spilled out of her anyways, her childhood home, what had remained to remember her sisters, gone.
there was so much she wanted to ask, shaking her head in confusion she whispered the new republic to herself, but still wasn’t what had captured her attention out of the information he had given her, ❝dragged to the rift? what does that mean...❞ she knew she needed this man’s help, so she was not about to antagonize him, but she could not stop herself from feeling protective over her nephew, ❝this brother of yours, is he also mandalorian? are you sure he and korkie are safe? no matter what korkie says he’s still too young to be out on his own...❞ the last part was mostly to herself, she had already failed satine, she could not fail adenn too.
Din turned when he heard the familiar voice, grimacing under his helmet. He didn’t much care for Bo-Katan, and he was fairly sure the other Mando hated him. Especially after he had accidentally claimed the darksaber.
But he wouldn’t bring anything up unless she did. He didn’t want to assume she was the same Bo-Katan that he had met. “There is no Mandalore to return to.” He said instead “And there is no Empire anymore either.”
Din assumed she must have been dragged here recently, if she didn’t know the empire was no more “If there is somewhere else I can take you, Im willing to. If I can get somewhere with working comms, I can try to contact my brother and see if he is with your nephew.”
there had been sucker punches before in her life, and she had already lost her sisters, there was little left that could break bo-katan. but as the words there is no mandalore to return to reached her ears, she felt as if the air had been completely knocked out of her. bo took a few steps backwards before removing her helmet, she had to regain her composure, after a few deep breaths she faced the mandalorian again. now it made sense why she had ran into someone so far from home. there was no home.
❝no mandalore? what happened to our home? and the empire is gone too... i— i woke up on an imperial cruiser, i assumed i had been captured to try and force mandalore into imperial control, but we bow to no one❞ she said, there was still fight left in her, even if there was no more home planet, ❝the creatures from the holo... was it them? like hapes?❞
at the mention of korkie bo felt herself come back to life, her nephew was safe, what remained to her of adenn, of satine, there was so much of them in him, and with mandalore gone bo-katan had failed them all. ❝you know korkie he is safe? are you friends from the academy?❞

the creatures words still danced around bo-katan’s head, after chatting up some people at the docks she learned about the first attack on hapes, and that it had not just been hapans presents, but a galaxy wide celebration. she had to get off world, she had to get in touch with the others, ursa, korkie, she had to get back to korkie, if something happened to him, he was the only family that remained to her. but as the docking bay struggled to guide ships bigger than a shuttle to land, bo realized getting transport that would get her all the way to madalore would be impossible. she settled for a small vessel that was to take her to nevarro. apparently nevarro had the comms relay bombed, but the vast inhabitable plains made it less dangerous to land and take off. from there she could find a way home.
after the third confused look she got when inquiring about passage to mandalore, bo-katan was starting to lose her patience. she walked the bazaar, listening to the conversations around her, perhaps she could try her luck on ryloth, someone had managed brief contact. out of the corner of her eye she spotted them. full beskar armor. bo-katan turned on her heel and immediately approached them. ❝mandalorian, i am bo-katan of house kryze, despite what the empire might say i am still regent of mandalore, i need your assistance getting back home.❞
ALINA KOVALENKO // have you met BO-KATAN KRYZE yet? SHE is a TWENTY-SEVEN years old TRANS WOMAN HUMAN, originally from MANDALORE but typically reside on NABOO. after everything they’ve gone through, they show loyalty to THE UNALIGNED. they are best known for being a WARRIOR, and i hear they’re grown pretty RELENTLESS yet also PROUD at times; i hope they survive the galactic war.
the past
born the youngest of three in a family of great expectations. bo-katan was afforded a freedom that her sisters did not have much of while growing up.
as the baby of the family she was left to her own devices, and despite never wanting for anything, still found it in herself to want to rebel.
so after learning the plans her oldest sister had for mandalore, bo-katan found herself desperately looking for those that wanted to return to the old way of the mandalore.
losing adenn fueled the need of bo-katan to walk away from her family.
eventually bo would find what she had been looking for in mandalore’s moon concordia. she would join death watch but keep her origin secret from other members, wanting a chance to rise on her own, free of her family name.
a skilled fighter, bo would soon become a lieutenant under pre vizslas leadership, eventually becoming his right-hand, and going on to lead the elite unit of warriors the nite owls.
bo’s desire to forge her own path would cloud her vision to realize that death watch truly was the misguided radical group everyone claimed to be, and the acts committed by the organization were truly despicable acts of terrorism.
as luck would have it, death watch would run into a escape pod and vizsla would find himself allied with a pair of sith lords, who bo-katan pointed out should not be trusted, resulting in her being force chocked by maul.
bo-katan got to listen to the plans to overthrow her sister, even helping to assemble the shadow collective, and execute the plan to attack sundari in order to make death watch look like mandalore’s saviors and her own sister a failed leader.
after a series of events that bo should’ve seen coming, she got to watch as vizsla died at the hands of maul. the darksaber now in the hands of an outsider. watching as several traditionalists stood by the new ruler, bo-katan claimed no outsider would ever rule mandalore, taking off with the still loyal nite owls.
she would join forces with her nephew korkie, and they would set out to rescue satine from prison. while initially a success, they were all soon pursued by maul’s forces. despite everyone’s best efforts, they were overpowered, her sister however managed to send a message to an old friend before being captured again.
it had been a fool’s hope, bo realized, to think that with the help of one obi-wan kenobi the tide would turn. it only ended with her losing another sister.
she had hated being the youngest, the baby of the family. now she was the only one left. determined not to let it be the end of clan kryze, bo-katan immediately went to work on finding a way to keep korkie safe.
she would even ask the jedi to inform the republic, as she would rather watch occupy mandalore, than have maul rule over her people.
bo and the nite owls continued their operations until fate reunited her with ahsoka tano. now with a common enemy bo once again put her faith in the jedi. only to have them turn their back on her. which only helped cement her views on the order, and realize that ahsoka was what a jedi should be, not what the self-righteous jedi master who got her sister killed claimed to be.
with the help of tano, commander rex, and part of the 501st, they laid siege to maul’s forces on mandalore. eventually succeeding when ahsoka defeated maul, leading to his capture.
using the last mandalorian vault, bo-katan turned maul to the republic forces. finally at peace, even if what awaited ahead was a tough job, at least her sister’s murdered had been caught, and would no longer poison her people’s minds.
of course the small moment of joy did not last long. as soon after the jedi would be branded traitors, the republic would become the galactic empire. and bo-katan would not have mandalore fall under imperial rule.
the present
the empire had begun an occupation on mandalore, violence erupting on the streets once more. the proud warriors of mandalore would not recognize the empire’s rule, or at least that’s what bo-katan had been trying to fight for. that is until she woke up in an unfamiliar setting, unable to recognize her surroundings bo-katan feared something had been done in the quest to remove her as regent of mandalore. realizing she was in a republic cruiser, well she guessed it was an imperial cruiser now, bo-katan soon found it was running with very limited crew, and stationed on the ocean moon of trask. she was a long way home, not even imagining how true that was. unware that she had been thrusted decades into the future, bo walked the docks trying to get in touch with mandalore only to come face to face with a breaking news report.
❝hapes?❞ bo said to herself, everyone knew the hapans had long ago isolated themselves from the rest of the galaxy. the youngest of the kryze sisters could hardly contain her shock as she watched the action unfold through the holo on the cantina. if such a threat existed and had taken the hapes consortium she had to hurry and contact mandalore. a task that became impossible when communications went down, soon the inhabitants would learn that nevarro —among other major communication fields, had been bombarded, and as ships began to experience difficulties to even get close to landing, bo-katan started to frantically try to find a way off world.
personality
❝i wish i was good at something other than war❞
confidence that only those born into royalty ever experience, bo-katan knew her role in society and acted as such.
a skilled warrior, ruthless in battle, a proud representative of her people’s way of life.
loyal to her beliefs, but also to those who had proven to be alles.
stubborn and relentless, bo will not stop until she accomplishes her goals, whatever those might be, at times not even she knows.
torn between the love for her family and trying to restore mandalore to what it once was, bo-katan is not oblivious to the fact that she is not the kind of leader mandalore needs. her goal had been to hopefully one day see korkie ruling their people, clan kryze had always being meant to lead.
