Super jelly with all the beach photos from loved ones in the Philippines. My fam themselves just went island-hopping at Hundred Islands this weekend 😅 So here's a throwback photo of my last beach escapade. 🏖 It pains to see a polluted ocean, and several sea animals being affected. (That video of a straw being pulled out of a turtle's nose still haunts me to this day). It's Earth Day today! 🌎(Though every day should be Earth Day). The campaign for this year is "End Plastic Pollution" - an advocacy that I am passionate about, as well. This campaign is also timely, especially in the Philippines, wherein we ranked third as the largest source of plastic pollution in oceans in 2017. 🍃 In line with this, here are some tips from the Earth Day Network (I also added some) to #EndPlasticPollution: 🌱 Every time you consider buying a disposable plastic item, ask yourself: Do I absolutely need this? Can I use something else that I already have? Could I buy something that I can use long-term instead? 🌿 Properly dispose plastic products, and be careful not to toss plastic products near waterways, beaches, or in open spaces. 🍀 Pick up plastic trash whenever you see it, especially in ponds, streams, rivers, and on beaches. 🌳 Bring ecobags when shopping and doing the grocery. 🌲 If an item you want to buy is small enough to fit in your bag, refuse the plastic. 🌴 When ordering in coffee shops, ask for your drink to be served in a mug. Refuse the straw. 🎍 Purchase reusable straws! I'd recommend my friend's store because her sustainable products are not limited to just straws. Check out @paralumanph on Instagram. 🍂 Don't buy products containing microbeads, which are plastic particles commonly found in exfoliating body washes and facial scrubs. Instead, purchase products that have natural exfoliates. 🍁 Wash synthetic clothes less frequently to reduce the amount of microfibers that are released. 🌻 When possible, purchase clothing and other items made of natural fibers. 🌼 Get involved in local legislation and regulation to reduce and recycle plastics. 🌸 Last but not the least, i-block mo na yang plastic mong friend for a sustainable future. 🌏 #EarthDay #EarthDay2018 #RefuseToUsePlastic #SustainableLiving #banauericeterraces #ifugao #philippines #wonderoftheworld #nature #blog 🌏 (at Banaue Rice Terraces View Point)
