STOPPPPSOTPPP SOTP I WAS SO CLOSE TO GUESSING VEGA’S CRIME I SAID THAT THEY PROBABLY JOINED THE INVESTIGATION THAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT WITHOUT PERMISSION BUT I WAS SO CLOSE UAUGH (I was technically right but it’s not the same charge)
anyways yeah I can see this,, especially if vega’s so worked up and trying to protect themselves in great measures then this isn’t too out of character to tamper with evidence or impede an investigation, but the only thing that kind of puts that down is Vega’s indirect claim that they didn’t do it by saying that they had to deny it with the audience.
Something I would like to point out with this; the fact that most of the contestants had actual reasoning or were somewhat innocent in the bigger picture shows a lot. Just pointing this out with Vega more because they’re one of the last ones.
for example: Rook killed her parents but it’s implied to be self defence. Sailor sold stuff that shouldn’t really be good but he didn’t realize that it was as bad as he assumed; plus he worked on the doc. Sandbag killed someone but in the end he didn’t know that actually injured his opponent as much as it did. Cobyn was a decoration to murder and didn’t really think that burying/hiding bodies was that horrible.
see where I’m getting at? Most of the contestants didn’t really realize what they were doing and there’s reasons embedded into their crimes that wouldn’t and shouldn’t get them arrested — I’m only saying this here since vega denying the crime reminded me of this
but also; I find it hilarious that Vega has a ton of smaller crimes. Even though I did say trespassing (or breaking and entering. I don’t remember) it just feels so funny how Vick describes it as “smaller annoying ones”
another thing to note is how Vega used to be a cosmologist and describes “uncovering crimes as how they actually happened and not sparing any details” vega’s true purpose. This isn’t really just about Vega having an interest in true crime; but it proves that they aren’t really one to lie. With the crime they mentioned in the first part, and being the same crime as their view on the “starry night killer” AND being near their last murder, it shows that it happened. Either that or they just mention that because they were a huge ‘help’
Vega described themselves as being apart of headlines, having interviews where people asked what case they’d solve next, they showed some pride in this, and didn’t really see what they were doing as a criminal offence. Even though they were a huge help, they were still coincidentally in the right place at the right time.
vega’s ideal and mindset of not being a real criminal is heavily shown on Eddie after saying that Vega wasn’t a real investigator. Vega even went as far as saying that “you’re a criminal. Having more of us puts people like you at a disadvantage”
All of this build up of character traits that got reflected in their reason for imprisonment talk with Eddie shows more about Vega. They really do think that they’re better than people, that they follow what they think is right even if it counts as breaking the law, a form of vigilante, and slightly selfish when it comes down to the other contestants and their constant need to prove that they’re different / not a criminal
The difference between this and how Vega describes themselves is already stated, that they’re different and not a criminal, so it quite literally proves that Vega does think they’re above and thinks they’re good at something for doing it once. Despite their role of paranoid; they don’t question the same things that Eddie doubted in their story about the starry night killings. Specifically “I don’t think they mean it the way you think it means” or something along those lines. Vega’s role of paranoid actually relates to their constant need to ask questions or forge their own path to get to a conclusion
Relating to vega’s role, not about the paranoid part since I just mentioned that, Vega says that the cosmologist part of their role is because they want to test them to see if they still had it in them, but really I doubt what they’re saying is right. Right after, they talk about their true purpose, and again Vega doesn’t realize that they’re not qualified to be an investigator. They’re stubbornly holding onto the fact that they solved a case once and got appreciated for it; so they think they can keep doing this over and over again and get praise, etc etc. yet they don’t have the cosmologist role to test them or make the game harder. They have the cosmologist role because they aren’t an investigator. They aren’t cut out for it like they think they do, they’re not qualified for it, and they definitely don’t do their job as good as they think they do. They have the cosmologist role because that’s what they are and they can’t be an investigator. No matter if they actually solved the case, they’re still qualified to be a cosmologist. I think they could also have that part of their role because people don’t take them seriously as an investigator. Not poppy, Cobyn, or Eddie.
Everything about their character feels really tragic to me even despite the very obvious rude behaviour that comes with it
