IN A HEARTBEAT
Hai mai guardato una breve storia senza parole? or Avete mai incontrato uno stesso rapporto sessuale? This wordless four-minute short animated film about two young boys falling in love goes viral. It was made by students of animation at Ringling College of Art & Animation, Beth David and Esteban Bravo. The said film captured the hearts of many by its simple yet enduring story that went through a swirl of feelings and messages without a single word. I, however find it that same sex relationship is allettante, carina, and adorabile.
The entire film is about the story of a young love with a shy boy named Sherwin who has a crush on another guy in their school named Jonathan. It begins with Sherwin waiting for Jonathan to arrive. Sherwin hides from Jonathan in the trees and bushes. Jonathan is too busy reading his book and tossing an apple to notice. Sherwin’s heart suddenly pops out of his chest and is drawn like a magnet to Jonathan. Sherwin attempts to grab and hide his heart resulting in various awkward encounters with Jonathan. The majority of the film is Sherwin trying to pry his heart back as to not let the rest of school realize his love for Jonathan.
Characters, background, lighting, music and everything else in the short film is perfect and will bring you so much feels. The queer love story between two young boys is very timely. The setting and the background suits the taste of the millennials. It also plays the most beautiful music which sets the tone throughout the whole movie. It creates the perfect mood. The music will also evoke as much emotion from you as it can. The movie thoroughly discussed what they want to tell the viewers even without any single word coming out from their characters.
This animation is very good and perfectly made by geniuses and passionate people. The film is not lengthy, it is only a four-minute film but after you watch it, you will crave for more. You will be more than satisfied by their bitter-sweet experience. In A Heartbeat will tug at your heart strings and turn even the most bitter of us into balling sobs of mess. The reason why you will feel so much empathy for our little protagonist after watching it, is that we’ve all been there. We’ve all, at some point in our lives had our hearts broken, and you don’t want it to happen to anyone, even to a fictional character in an animated short film.
