Time was flying by…and before they knew it, Beatrix and Salim were parents to two toddlers. Second born son Avi Benali was nothing like his intuitive, well-mannered brother, Finn. Though the brothers seemingly adored each other, Avi on his own was wild, unruly, energetic, and prone to temper tantrums, especially those centered around bowls of vegetables.

She envied Salim’s sky-rocketing success in the publishing world, and missed socializing with similar literature-minded adults. Reading ‘Princess Plumbob’ over and over again to a toddler was starting to lose its appeal. But the proud, determined mother carried on, her adoration for her family pushing her through the next few tumultuous years of their lives.

A couple months later and Finn Benali was born. He had a charmed childhood, and despite two hard-working writers for parents, there was always someone to look after him in their tiny Willow Creek home. He was bound to be a smart boy, after all the books and flashcards.

Before they even had time to talk about starting a life together, Beatrix found out she was pregnant. Salim moved into her humble home right away, eager to help her prepare for their baby. He was writing short science fiction stories for the San Myshuno Gazette, while Bea worked on her weekly arts review column. They were barely getting by, but they were deliriously happy. While painting the nursery together, Beatrix revealed to Salim that he was going to have a son. He proposed on the spot.

After a failed attempt at dating the infamous player Akira Kibo, Beatrix fell for Salim Benali after one date. That’s all it took. He was kind, he was different. He wanted to be a writer, like her. Things were moving fast, but that’s what true love does.

Her new friends showed Beatrix there was so much to explore in her new world. The close by city of San Myshuno was vibrant, busy, alive. Though much more apt with words than paint, Bea could never pass up drinks and mural painting in the city with the girls.

She was finally on her own. Finally able to forget her past and make a new start. The house she bought was bare bones, and needed a lot of love: nothing she couldn’t provide. She quickly made friends with her neighbors, Adrienne and Liberty. Life was finally looking up.
