I am Heba Al-Dahdouh. I currently live in the completely destroyed city of Gaza. Since the war on Gaza began on 7/1/2024, my family- my father Nasif, my mother Asmaa, and my siblings Khaled, Ahmad, Muhammad, and Malak-have been living in constant fear, crying, and suffering due to shrapnel, shells, and bullets.

We have no food, no electricity, no cooking gas, no schools, no homes, no cleaning supplies, and no clothes. Our house was completely destroyed. My school has been bombed, and my brother Khaled's university is now rubble, depriving us all of education. The war has forced us to live in displacement centers, which are just tents unsuitable for living, especially in winter.

Every day we live death, terror, and panic a thousand times because of the ongoing bombardment of my city. The war has killed more than 50 of my relatives and neighbors. At the start of the war, we sought refuge at my aunt's house, but it too became rubble. Imagine: we have survived imminent death more than 20 times and have been displaced among shelters more than 13 times. My siblings and I have suffered from many illnesses due to malnutrition, and we need medication continuously.

If we stay in Gaza, we might lose our lives. Recently, we have been seriously considering leaving Gaza for a safe place. However, travel costs are extremely high. We need over $50,000 to leave Gaza. Due to exorbitant prices, rampant unemployment, lack of security, the ongoing siege, and relentless bombardment, we have lost all our money. we received so vanishingly little donations that we were forced to use the passport funds to pay for the immune globulin as well as their return, as the doctors evacuated too.

this isn't even including the $1000 debt we have accrued from needing iv fluids due to not getting the immune globulin injection on time

in over 2 days, after i announced that they needed to evacuate urgently, we still didn't even get close to enough

i really don't know what to say. our passport funds being drained just makes ammar's situation worse, because his condition is worsening the longer we go without his heart operation, which he can only get in egypt

if we keep draining those funds, we'll just have nothing left, and then he'll be doomed

Sad to say that, while $1000 is a major win for this fundraiser, it's just 1/5 of the total amount. This young mother has a four week old baby, a two year old daughter, and elderly parents she and her husband are trying to care for and protect. They're trying to survive in a warzone, moving from place to place, frozen by cold and suffering from hunger. Prices for everything are insane because infrastructure is largely destroyed by the conflict, and supply and demand has caused the price of everything to skyrocket.

Imagine going through all of that. Image looking into your daughter's face every day, wondering how you're going to feed her. Imagine the desperation and despair of being forced to rely on the kindness of strangers, and even then raising the money is a slow and agonizing climb.

While people post Eid outfits, food, and family photos, my family in Gaza is trying to survive another day of bombs, hunger, fear, and unbearable heat.

There is NO safe place left in Gaza.

Imagine trying to sleep inside plastic and fabric under a burning sky while drones and airstrikes continue around you.

Ríhanna Kelver, a bartender and trans rights advocate in Laramie, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent after a 13 September 2025 confrontation outside the Crowbar & Grill, whereshe worked. Kelver could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison if convicted on both charges.

Despite Wyoming’s “Stand Your Ground” statute, which allows people to use reasonable force in moments of self defense, Kelver faces up to 15 years in prison for both charges, as well as up to $11,000 in fines, per Cowboy State Daily. Kelver faces an additional year and $1,000 fine for a charge of interference with a peace officer. [...]

Mexico amends its constitution to cut the maximum workweek from 48 to 40 hours by 2030 and gives 13.5 million workers the legal right to ignore their boss’s calls, messages, and emails after their shift ends, in the most significant overhaul of Mexican labor law in a generation.

In its current state, the amendment still does not guarantee 2 days of rest (only one). Notably, it increases maximum possible overtime hours from 9 (paid double) to a whopping 12 (paid double) plus 4 (paid triple). With the workweek now 8 hours shorter, employers are incentivized to make use of these 7 additional overtime hours to compensate.

Additionally, the amendment allows an employment contract to define a "flexible" workday. This would allow, for example, a weekly schedule of three workdays lasting 12 hours each (the maximum). Previously, the maximum was 11 hours (8 ordinary, 3 overtime). This could also allow for schedules where certain time windows or activities are excluded from the work day, and thus from the employer's legal responsibilities.

Back in 2025, the CPM had already criticized the reform for being the result of a "dialogue" between all involved parties - excluding workers. In February, unions had already made the above criticisms, and the National Front for 40 Hours had denounced the government's last-minute cancelation of an audience, deceptive claims about supposed consensus, and general rejection of any dialogue.
