In my pjs all weekend wrapping Xmas presents...

The likes of Tobacco Dock, Printworks etc have a clear place on the clubbing landscape in London- a clear change from the standard purpose built venues we’re used to. These new locations play host to different types of events from raves to fashion shows and offer a very different clubbing experience. Where Ministry of Sound, for example, is purpose built for raving with smaller bar areas, fewer toilets, smaller rooms, Printworks, by contrast, is vast. Events are run almost like a mini festival with cashless bars and lockers instead of cloakrooms. Both have a place but my personal opinion is that you just cannot beat that heady, sweaty, lights down vibe that you get in underground and veteran establishments like Fabric or The Cause! Being herded around like sheep and doing KS3 maths at the bar to work out how many tokens you need for a drink is a vibe killer! It detracts from the reason we are (or should be) there- the music. I’ll take a dingy club with a world class sound system over a super-venue any day :)

Incredible collection of neon art at God’s Own Junkyard in Walthamstow. Not only is the artwork amazing but there’s a little cafe inside where you can sit and chill amongst the lights (potentially a cute little alternative date spot!). This is a family run business with the nicest people you could wish to work with!
