This book is one of the Most important things to me in the world; not only because the novel changed my life, but also because it was given to me by a previous teacher of mine. This teacher changed my life and helped me with becoming who I am today. It all started when I was was in her class a few years back and I was a total spazz about school and grades and how people judge me on how well I perform on tests. I would literally cry after taking certain tests because I wanted/ needed to be the best of the best. And my already above normal average literature score was still not good enough for me. The teacher comforted me by telling me she thought I’d become a wonderful and smart individual and I could do anything I wanted If I put My mind to the task… I took my time with this teacher for granted. I thought after I left that school I could just as simply go back and visit her. We became friends in a way. I look Up to her. She gave me this book which held this message in it. It was a graduation present from her. After she proceeded to hand me this book she warned me to take my time to enjoy it. And not to rush through it and finish it in 2 days. I of course didn’t listen to her. I should of though. When summer came around she actually got the opportunity to meet John Green. I couldn’t go because i was on a trip in Washington D.C, but she knew it was (STILL is) my dream to meet him. She did the best she could and video recorded Mr. Green saying “kyla? Don’t forget to be awesome!” I’m not going to lie. The way I reacted is extremely hilarious to me and I would love to tell you about that experience. (Just message me and I’ll explain it in detail) but my point is. There are teachers who truly care about there job and there will always be that one student you have a special connection with. Maybe because they see a little bit of themselves in that student. Non the less this teacher has gone beyond what she had to do for me. And I want to thank her for all she has done. I plan on doing this by hopefully having John Green or anybody else seeing this and understanding how some teachers are so incredible and deserve so Much more than a crap pay for all the hard work they do for students. Some teachers go above and beyond than what they are expected to do. They should be acknowledged for it.
