So a few updates on my continued hiatus, which Iāll put under a cut bc two of the updates are potentially triggering (Iām fine, donāt worry):
*sobs* I havenāt forgotten this blog I swear
Also rebageling this bc like I legit want advice about what I rambled about in the tags last night aka the inconvenient crush Iām developing on a friend from dnd. Like. I donāt want to make things awkward or make dnd not fun anymore by asking him out and being told no. Plus I think sb else in the group has a crush on ME which if he found out I asked this other guy out might make the dynamic even worse. But also like wtf do I do bc this is the first crush on a guy Iāve had in a LONG time (I primarily lean towards other genders, thereās a reason I call myself homoflexible) and upon realizing i had this crush it hit me HARD. And I think he might like me back but idk maybe he just decided after a year of being in the same group chat but not friends on fb āhey i think I can legit call her a friend nowā bc I mean fair, I myself have friendship trust issues.
*sobs* I havenāt forgotten this blog I swear
Well that was short lived lol

*pops on briefly* yo itās Calās birthday!
As is often the case with me I am gone for long unexplained absences at a time š¬
I promise Iām still here, I havenāt forgotten about Cal or lost muse for him, Iāve just got a new job that is actually really nice compared to some of the other ones I had and def pays better but Iām still learning all the aspects of it and theyāre figuring out when exactly my semi regular schedule is going to be. I work full time now, they just donāt know which one is going to be my every other weekend and which is going to end up being my official mid week day off during my weeks when I have the weekend off. So Iām tired, my hours are kind of irregular as I go through a week of training on each role Iām involved in, and I also have been bitten by the cosplay bug again at long last and have a game plan to make sure I can ACTUALLY finish the ones I either started or plan to lol.
Once I figure out what my midweek day off is Iām going to plan on that day being the day of the work schedule that I do all my replies, plotting, posting of headcanons, etc.
First of all my darlings, happy Star Wars day even tho for me thereās only 11 minutes left of it lol!
Secondly Iāve been fully sucked into the Fourth Wing book so prepare thyselves for an āunrequested and likely unwanted but youāll get it anywayā AU
I often forget about them (my apologies to my feral murder babies) but jedi survivor would be vastly different if Cal had his 8 rabid boglings in various humanoid forms padawans around.
Just got out of the theater after watching revenge of the sith and oh man am I a wreck š

Saw a post in the Cal tag that reminded me of my āCal literally cannot die except for old age and even that might be negotiable bc Death owes The Force a favorā AU.
Happy zombie day!
Sorry for the absence (new sucky job combined with family stuff and getting the costuming brainrot will do that), Iāll be back either later tonight or in the afternoon on Tuesday.
I yet again am in cosplay hell all because I found out TODAY that my area is finally having a proper con (albeit sort of smaller compared to our old one) on Star Wars Day lol

Now the real question: for my D&D inspired AU for Cal, or the PC I will eventually make thatās totally ripped off of how I write him lol, do I keep Cal human or do I play around with making him a Tabaxi or something?
@akunaa
Here, Greez had said while shoving a few homemade protein bars and dried fruits into his pockets. You don't eat enough, kid. I can't make ya sit down and eat a proper meal but the least I can do is make sure you have something while you're running around doing who even knows what out there.
It touched Cal that, even after these years of separation, the older Lateron still fussed over him...not that he'd ever tell him that without teasing him a little first. Instead, he grumbled about being able to take care of himself but took a few pieces of bantha jerky and put them into his pockets too.
Bode had taken up Cal's offer to go exploring Koboh and he didn't want to look too closely at how pleased it made him feel. Four hours later while they're fleeing from both Imps and Raiders he felt a little less pleased, but during a momentary lull between patrols he pulled out one of the protein bars and gnawed on it idly as they waited.
ā donāt you think our priority should be escape first, eat second? ā Cal covered his full mouth and stifled a laugh at Bode's incredulous query.
He took a moment to swallow before replying, "Look, we have a moment and need to let them pass unless you really want to get in the middle of a fight. And Greez gets tetchy when I come back and haven't eaten the snacks he gave me." Cal pulled another bar out of his pocket and waved it towards Bode. "Want one? It has koja nuts!"
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā šš·š“Ā š²š°š š“Ā šš·š“šĀ š·š°š³Ā š³šš²šŗš“š³Ā šøš½šš¾Ā šš°šĀ š°Ā š²š¾š½šµšøš½š“š³,Ā š·šš¼šøš³Ā š²š·š°š¼š±š“š , its atmosphere thick with moisture and the faint, mineral scent of stagnant water. Ā the walls and ceiling were alive with patches of bioluminescent fungus, their soft blue glow pulsing in the gloom like the breathing of some unseen organism. Ā pools of uncertain depth littered the uneven ground, their surfaces shimmering with an eerie blue-green lightābe it from the fungi clinging to submerged stone or the waterās own latent toxicity, akuna couldnāt say. Ā probably both.
it was, in its own strange way, beautiful. the kind of place that wouldāve fascinated his daughter, where he could almost hear her voice asking him to describe every detail. Ā he wouldāve liked to stand there for a moment longer, to commit the scene to memoryānot for himself, but for her. Ā sheād want to draw it, to bring his words to life in color. Ā maybe she would even ask him to help her, if denvik allowed him to stay long enough to pick up a brush. . . Ā but, as always, the mission came first.
āyou always snack like weāre not one misstep away from a firefight?ā bode leaned back against the damp rock, arms folded over his knees, expression an amalgamation of bafflement and reluctant intrigue as he watched kestis demolish an entire protein bar with all the focus of a man savoring his last meal.
this wasnāt in the reports. bode had meticulously studied cal kestisās file in preparation for this mission, dissecting every account of his feats, every reported piece of intelligence the empire had gathered over the years.Ā he knew kestis was unpredictable, foolhardy, and yet frighteningly competent in battle. Ā a fugitive jedi knight known for reckless engagements and an uncanny ability to survive against overwhelming odds. Ā bode had prepared for volatility, braced himself for the kind of raw, desperate aggression that came with years of running across the galaxy.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā instead, he found himself in a dank, dimly lit cave, watching the so-called ālegitimate threat to the empireā enjoy an afternoon snack with seemingly absentminded contentment.
bode didnāt quite know what to make of it. there was something disarmingly human about kestis, almost boyish in his casual defiance of the danger outside. Ā it was unexpected. Ā disconcerting, even. Ā and, in a different life, under entirely different circumstances, he might have even called it charming Ā Ā Ā bode quickly shouldered aside the wayward thought. Ā what the hell was he even thinking? oh, fierfek. maybe his proximity to the bioluminescent alien fungi had rendered him stupid for a second.
āyouāre lucky youāre good,ā he muttered, eyeing the protein bar with a bemused mix of skepticism and approval before plucking it from the jediās outstretched hand, his voice dropping just slightly. Ā āand i mean that. Ā youāre. . . different, kestis. Ā in a good way.ā
Cal Kestis was not one for sharing food, and yet he couldnāt help but grin when Bode took the offering. He could sooner count his own freckles than understand why he had such an easy time giving Bode one of the bars Greez had supplied. Bracca had taught him to guard his food ferociously, and his struggles in the immediate aftermath of the Mantis crew going their separate ways had only cemented this. Merrin had previously been the only one heād share with, and that was likely to do with her own post-genocide life. Easier to share with others who understood the importance. Even the twins knew better than to try for whatever he kept on him during missions, yet here he was offering these things to Bode and feeling elated when the bar was accepted.
Yet another thing to not look at too deeply, Cal thought to himself as he grabbed some dried fruit and absentmindedly continued to graze on the snacks.
The cave itself was rather beautiful. He could feel BD constantly shifting on his shoulder, trying to catalogue all the different fungi and rock formations without straying. This was meant to be a temporary stop as they waited for the opposing patrols to either pass, or stop and fight and THEN pass them by. Safe enough to obey Greez, volatile enough to not try exploring further.
Youāre lucky youāre good. His brows furrowed at the comment, confusion evident on his face. Cal had always made a point to allow surface level thoughts and feelings be openly read in his expressions but his actual deeper mentality kept hidden to all but a very select few, having learned the hard way more than once what wearing his heart on his sleeve could do, but with the taller (bigger, and no Cal didnāt think about Bode being able to toss him around if he let him. Not at all) man next to him he found himself exposed and uncaring about hiding much.
If Saw were here heād be lecturing him on not trusting anyone. Cal felt grateful more than ever for the distance at this moment.
āIf by different you mean not willing to let Greez corner me with five servings of food the next time I see him, then sure.ā Cal tilted his head at Bode, unaware that he looked a bit like a puzzled Bogling doing so. āAnd yep,ā he let the last consonant pop slightly, straightening his posture out just enough to be able to lean back against a large fungi-covered rock directly across from Bode, āwe have a spare moment and theyāre busy tiring themselves out fighting each other, so why not snack a little? Nearly dying works up an appetite. Might as well have dinner and a show.ā
