Donât We Belong?
Christoffer Schistadâs foot nervously taps away against the wooden flooring outside Noora SĂŚtreâs room. He runs his hands through his hair, not believing that heâs actually going to do this. Why does he care? He pats his navy blue, bomber jacket and black t-shirt, before checking the pockets of his jeans for his phone. Itâs to help divert himself from the stress of the situation at hand.Â
Before he has any time to retreat or think over what heâs going to say, Noora opens this door. Noora, clearly not expecting Chris to ever show up at her home, is stunned, her eyes wide and a crisp look of confusion coating her face. She opens her mouth, cocking her head in front, trying to seem calm.Â
Just do it, Chris encourages himself as he twiddles with his fingers. âI need to talk to you!â he blurts out, thinking that itâs best to rip off the bandaid.Â
Noora sighs, her shoulders relaxing. âIf this is about William, I am ââÂ
âItâs about Eva,â Chris interrupts, standing there.Â
Without him having to explain himself, Noora already knows what heâs come to talk about Eva for. She offers him a soft, sympathetic smile, before stepping back and motioning for him to come into her room.Â
Chris takes a deep breath, nodding his head, then walking in. As he passes her, he mumbles a âthank youâ. Chris looks around, lost, not knowing how to continue this.Â
However, Noora helps him about my gesturing for him to sit down on the plush rug with her. Next, knowing that this man is stressed more than ever, Noora pours tea out from her teapot into two cups. Silently, with an encouraging smile, she hands a cup to Chris, whoâs sitting cross-legged in front of her, just like her.Â
Once again, he says a âthank youâ and Noora knows that this politeness has come from Evaâs doing. She probably forced it into the man.Â
âSo?â Noora starts, wanting him to open up about what heâs thinking, instead of her just telling him.Â
Chris gulps, avoiding her gaze. And the images and the things heâs heard and seen come rushing back to him. Promptly, he sets the cup onto the floor before looking up at Noora.Â
âI canât be what Eva wants me to be,â he confesses. âI canât be that perfect boyfriend for her.â Nooraâs expression turns to one of sympathy as she tilts her head to the side. Noora has a confiding vibe to her, allowing Chris to fluently open up to her.Â
âI donât know what we are. But what I know is that we only ever make out with each other, sleep with only each other. Sometimes, on good days. sheâll make me breakfast or itâs me,â Chris hurriedly explains, clearly frightened by giving too much of his feelings away. But the bottle of feelings has been tipped and lid is lost. âI drive her to or back from school and she hangs out at my place on the weekends. Iâll accompany her for dinner and weâll go exploring the streets of Oslo if a party isnât what weâre looking for.âÂ
Noora takes a sip of her tea, trying to formulate a response that will comfort him. However, he goes on.Â
âBut I heard Vilde say that her and this boy -âÂ
âAdam,â Noora quietly fills in, giving him that extra piece of information.Â
âYeah. Evan and Adam are cute. Other people say that theyâve become close. . I guess what I really want to ask you is. . . Does Eva have feelings for him?âÂ
And Nooraâs heart breaks. Never has she ever seen Chris Schistad open up to anyone. . he may have to Eva, but this is new. And, therefore, it helps her understand that the idea of âEva and Adamâ really bothers Chris. Most importantly, it tells Noora that Christoffer cares very much for Eva. And in the romantic away.Â
Noora speaks up, âYou need to talk to her, Chris. I cannot speak on her behalf.âÂ
Chris looks at Noora, a little infuriated by her response. However, realisation hits him and he ducks his head, then nods in understanding.Â
Chris gets up, thanking Noora for the help, before opening the roomâs door. However, Noora stops him when the door has been opened up halfway. âChristoffer, whatever you do, make sure you do what feels right? Okay? And donât hurt Eva in the process.âÂ
Chris, without even looking at her, nods before leaving.Â
-Â
That night, Chris gathered his courage and invited Eva to a park theyâve visited together, frequently, for eating, before Eva leaves to go party.Â
Chris sits on the bench of the bench, arriving sharply at five minutes to nine, at night. Â
He goes over all the things he can possibly tell her, all the ways he can express himself without making her mad. He goes over all the ways he can stay calm when she brings up Adamâs name. . which heâs more than sure she will.Â
After all, she finally found someone to love.Â
âSchistad, you alright?â Evaâs bubbly voice calls, from a few metres away. Chris snaps his head in time to see her arrive at the bench and then take a seat.Â
He smiles weakly at her, before diverting his attention to passing her a sandwich and a beer. Eva thanks him, grinning, before turning to face him, and propping her elbow onto the back rest of the park bench. Sheâs wearing a dark blue flannel and white t-shirt, which has been tucked into her pair of high-waisted jeans, which have been tightened by a black belt.Â
Chris catches the way she shudders, so he begins to shuffle asking, âWhy didnât you wear a coat?âÂ
Eva shrugs, âIâm going to a party and then Iâll be warm. Iâd forget to take my coat back home.âÂ
Chris shakes his head, before draping his dark blue, winter coat over her. âBetter?â he asks, softly.Â
Evaâs fingers pull his coat closer, but then sheâs lost in his eyes. Heâs staring at her with such gentleness that it captivates her. Thereâs a softness to his features that Eva has noticed a few times before, but until now, she never realised what it was. Theyâre close to each other.Â
And Chris looks like he wants to kiss her right then and there.Â
But Chris snaps out of his trance and shakes his head, to compose himself.Â
âI - uh ââ Just ask her already, Chris! Being subtle, he shudders, asking, âWho - Whoâre you going with?âÂ
Evaâs mouth breaks into a teasing grin as she looks at him. She cocks her head to the side, playfully asking, âYou concerned I wonât be safe?â Chris chuckles at that. He wants to reply âyesâ but for his ego he also wants to say ânoâ. Eva takes care of that problem for him, when she adds, âNoora isnât coming and Vilde, Sana and Chris are going to come late but I have to leave early so Adamâs taking me.âÂ
Chris opens his mouth to say something but then doesnât. He sighs, leaning forward, resting his elbows on his knees. He buries his head in his hands, as he takes a deep breath.Â
Eva chews her bite slowly, as she inspects him. âYou alright?âÂ
Right as she finishes her question, Chris sits up right, quickly questioning, âYou and Adam?âÂ
Eva puckers her lower lip, asking, âMe and Adam?âÂ
The tone of her voice tells Chris that she doesnât understand what heâs asking. Heâs already done damage, might as well go through with this. âYou guys a thing, now?âÂ
Evaâs eyes widen in disbelief as it sinks in. Then she chuckles humourlessly, getting up and throwing her sandwich onto the bench. âSo this is why you called me out here? Hm? Because you donât want me to do anything with Adam?â Her arms are crossed over her chest, giving evidence of her unhappiness.Â
Chris gets up as well, his anger building up. âWell, have you?âÂ
âFuck you, Schistad!â Eva replies, confidently, not missing a beat.Â
âYou have!â Chris fights back, weakly. All he is is scared. Fuck, he thinks to himself, understanding what that means: he doesnât want to lose Eva Mohn.Â
âI donât know if you know this Chris, but weâre not a couple. Nor are you my father. So, you donât get to go around and disapprove the boys I hang out with, alright? I donât give a flying fuck if it hurts your ego!â Eva says. Her heart stings at her words.Â
Chris looks at her, a sudden confidence covering his face. Shit, Eva thinks, oh, shit, heâs about to argue real good.Â
âNot a couple?â Chris chuckles, just like Eva had moments ago. He takes a small step closer to her. âOkay, what about you sleeping at my house? What about us going out for lunch and dinner together? What about you not running away the next morning?âÂ
âStop,â Eva says through gritted teeth, as she momentarily closes her eyes.Â
Chris shakes his head, just as she opens her eyes, sensing heâs taken another step towards her. Now, heâs standing chest to chest. His hand, sneakily, grabs hold of hers. âWhat do you call staying up late to talk to each other, until one of us falls asleep? What about hanging out and kissing?â
âDonât do this, Chris,â Eva pleads, her voice cracking.Â
âWhat do you call holding hands and going for strolls?â Chris desperately asks. Sighing, he finalises how this is going to work out. âTell me you like him and not me and Iâll go away.âÂ
âChris,â Eva objects, getting impossibly close to him, her hand now wrapping around his tightly. She takes a shaky breath, before tilting her head to look at him. âI love you,â she confesses, then brings her free hand to cup his cheek. Chrisâs eyes widen at her words as his heart skips a few beats. His stomach erupts and the jitters consume him. Eva giggles. âI love you so God damn much, Christoffer.âÂ
Chrisâs mouth hesitantly breaks into a grin. Then they laugh and he crashes his lips against hers. They laugh into their kiss, happy that they finally figured this out. Whatever they were.Â
But now . . now, theyâre dating. Theyâre in love.Â
Lies
Eva Mohn is horribly upset.Â
Sheâs tired of the lies being thrown her way.Â
âI canât today, Eva,â he said.Â
âSorry, just going to hang out with the Riots, tonight,â he said.Â
Fine, Chris Schistad can do whatever the fuck he wants but she doesnât want him lying to her. She doesnât want to find his tongue down another girlâs throat at a party when he said he wasnât going to any.
Eva and Chris arenât dating. Eva knows that. But lying is another thing.Â
Why did she take this so personally? Eva could not possibly have feelings for the despicable Christoffer Schistad! Eva is Noora Saetreâs best friend and Noora has taught her that âfuckboysâ arenât worth it.Â
So, why does her heart crack under the pressure of her feelings when she sees him with someone else?Â
Why is her mind plagued with the thoughts of her not being good enough as the other girls he makes out with and him not wanting her and her not being good enough for him? Should Eva just stop?Â
Out of anger, she believes she should slap Chris and end whatever this is between them. But then she tells herself that itâs better to talk it out.. see where heâs coming from. See if thereâs a reason?Â
Eva is still staring at him, from across the room.Â
He said he was not comingâŚ
Chrisâs hands are over a girl, as his lips roughly press kisses to her body. The music isnât loud enough to block out the negative feelings crawling inside her.Â
Nothing is enough.Â
The alcohol coursing through her system isnât enough. Girl Chris cracking her usual jokes isnât enough.Â
She sees red and she sees blue.Â
Ugh, she thinks. Heâs wearing that stupid t-shirt.Â
The girl drapes across him is playing with the zipper Eva always plays with.Â
And thatâs when Eva looses it.Â
Sheâs not even going to apologize for wanting to be the only person who gets to play with that zipper.Â
And as sheâs storming her way to the other side of the room, her feelings finally become clearly.Â
Eva Mohn likes Chris Schistad and sheâs fucked because of it.Â
Chris wasnât expecting Eva to be here. he really wasnât. So, when he felt her hand turn him around, her Eva smell filling his nostrils, he freaks out. The girl he was with left as soon as Eva came.Â
She knows better than not come in the way of Eva and Chris.Â
He freaks out completely because she is so going to murder him.Â
And being Penetrator Chris, he smashed his lips to hers, pulling her jeans clad body to him.Â
The fireworks are instantly set off between them and, fuck, why?Â
When Chris was kissing that other girl a few minutes ago, it didnât feel half as good as this. So, why?Â
His lips do things to Eva. It makes her mind fog up, so sheâs not even able to comprehend the situation. Her judgements become so clouded, sheâd take drugs in an instant, if given.Â
So, yes, thatâs what itâs kind of like to kiss Christoffer Schistad.Â
Or is it only kissing him? A voice makes her overthink.Â
But, no! Sheâs supposed to be furious with him! Yes, thatâs what sheâs supposed to do.Â
So, mustering enough strength - Chris makes her weak at her knees- she shoves him off her.Â
âEva . .â Chris mumbles, trying to kiss her again. But Eva swats his hands away and then grabs his wrist, dragging him down the hallway, where drunk teenagers are desperately making out.Â
She quickly pulls him into the - thankfully - empty room.Â
Not understanding where sheâs coming from - except for the fact of her catching his lie - Chris smirks. âI thought that Friday nights were reserved for making out only. .âÂ
âDONâT YOU FUCKING DARE, CHRISTOFFER!â Eva yells, shoving him. âYou lied to me! You fucking lied, you asshole!âÂ
Chris looks at her shocked. Tears brim her eyes and he feels something churn him.Â
Suddenly, Chris understands that feeling as concern. He doesnât want her crying over him. Especially him. But girls have cried before him . . Iben cried when they broke up but he didnât approach her.Â
What is it that Eva Mohn has of him?Â
âYou told me you were going to hang out with your friends,â Eva accuses, her voice much softer now. Her voice trembled as her brain replayed what sheâd seen. âI donât need you, Christoffer.âÂ
And when she said that, it wasnât one heart that broke . . it was two.Â
They both feel as if a sudden weight had been dropped on their shoulders and there is a fierce ache spreading across their chest.Â
âYou shouldâve just said it, alright. I donât need you,â Eva says, poking a finger at his chest. âI donât need you or your stupid lies. You played me.âÂ
And Chris opens his mouth to say something. But his throat feels dry and he hoarsely whispers, âEva, I ââÂ
âWho the fuck do you think you are?â Eva raises her voice a little. âYou think you can play me and walk away? Guess what, you canât! You canât fucking lie to me and expect I wonât be mad at you!âÂ
âI lied to you for a reason, Eva Kviig Mohn, alrighâ!âÂ
âI donât need your pathetic excuses right now, Schistad!âÂ
âOh, really?â taunts Chris, grabbing her waist. He turns their bodies and slams her straight up against the wall, his hips digging into hers. âDidnât you think there would be a reason for my lying?â His lips are now pressed softly against her jawline.Â
âDonât fuck with me, Chris,â Eva hotly whispers into his ear.Â
âI needed to get away from you.âÂ
âBy lying?âÂ
âThe only way I wouldnât directly hurt you.âÂ
Eva pushes him away for the third time.Â
âYou fucker! âWouldnât hurt meâ! What? I fucking saw you with that girl and you thought that I wouldnât directly be hurt?âÂ
âI lied for a good reason, okay!âÂ
âReally? Oh, please, do tell me!âÂ
âBecause being around you does things to me! Things I canât handle! And staying away from you was helping!âÂ
Eva stops, her eyes wide.Â
Chris has no idea what he said means. He has no idea that he just admited to liking her - implied, of course.Â
And Eva tries to ignore the jumps in her heart. She tries to ignore the smile breaking onto her face.Â
Chris is confused. . what did he say?Â
But before he can have any realisations, Evaâs grabbed the back of his head and pulled him to her. She quickly angles her head and kisses him, trying to help relieve herself of the feeling building up in her heart.Â
Chris doesnât think much, on his part. He hoists her up and presses her against the wall. Groaning, he rocks his hips forward, eliciting a well-earned moan from Evaâs mouth. To satisfy himself even more, he repeats the action, earning the same response.Â
With his hips holding her firm in place, his hands push her t-shirt up and he kisses her right above her heart.Â
Eva takes her t-shirt off and throws it across the room, not caring. Getting back on her feet, she unbuckles his belt and unbottons his pants. She doesnât have time to pull them down because Chris steps into the space between her legs and crafts a love bite onto her neck.Â
âYou and me, Eva,â Chris growls, leading her to the bed.Â
Evaâs heart flips. And he isnât giving her false hope. No, heâs actually saying something true. And sheâs so grateful.Â
Eva didnât expect to be the girl to change Chris. She just wanted the countless amounts of good sex. But . . things change.Â
Just as he sets her down, Eva chuckles, whispering, âDo you have any idea what youâve just said?âÂ
Gone, Gone, Gone
by kviigstad
Eva Mohn was sitting in her room, once again alone, because her mother was away. It was a Saturday and surprisingly she had decided to not attempt any parties.
WellâŚnot surprising. Even though Eva wonât admit it, the only reason why she hadnât gone was because Chris told her he wasnât going and was going to some âRusseâ party. Eva didnât show her sadness, instead told him to try to have fun without her.
But he was Chris. Penetrator Chris. He certainly didnât need someone like Eva Mohn to have a good time.
Chris and Eva were simply hooking up. Their peers insisted otherwise but they both knew they hadnât a label. They both knew that there were feelings but the feeling were best avoided. So, they kept their mouth shut.
Eva was scrolling through her list of movies, trying to find something decent to watch, when the window opened. She was a little startled at first but then came the familiar groan.
Eva laughed as Chris pushes his tall team through the window, ungracefully making his way to her bed. He crashed into the bed, letting out a disgruntled groan.
âListen, Penetrator, I need my space at night, so donât go about thinking you own the space â like you usually do,â Eva teased nudging him. Theyâd lately been sleeping together after hooking up, however body decided internally it was best that it wasnât spoken about. Speaking about it would make everything real. It wouldnât be their little game anymore.
With the nudge sheâd made, something got Evaâs eyes from where Chris previously had his head laid.
No! No! GOSH, please no! Not again! A large splotch of blood had stained the sheets, leaving Eva in shock.
There were many time where she had patched to him but nothing this severe.
Quickly setting her laptop aside, she reached for Chri, slowly lifting his head and setting it on her lap. She began to examine his injury. There was a gash along his cheekbone, which had been the source of his blood.
From the way it looked, it wasnât deep enough to require serious medical care. She gently brushed away his hair. âShh,â Eva mumbled, he hand trailing down the length of his body, to his hands. She gently lifted one with her hand and saw that they were bloody and bruises were forming. His other hand looked the same.
Eva began to move him. Helping him sit up, she scolded, âI told you not to get into fights. Especially with the Yakuzaâs and how youâre recovering from previous injuries.â This had become a tradition, as well.
Chris would get beaten up. Chris would come to Evaâs house. Eva would patch him up.
Eva led him to bathroom. She switched on the faucet before turning to Chris who hopelessly was sitting on the toilet seat.
She was furious. Yet she wanted to help him.
Eva bent down and began to untie his shoelaces and then take his shoes off. Chris, mumbled something and then took off his socks. Eva got a little higher and helped him take his shirt off.
âI tell you every single time, Christoffer,â Eva whispered, leaning down and turning on the faucet of the bath, as Chris groggily pulled his pants off. âBoxers on or off?â Eva asks, standing up and standing close to him.
His tired lips formed a knowing smirk, as the electricity crackled between them. Eva flushed, the intensity between them suddenly heightening.
But then Eva raised an eyebrow, warning him. Chrisâs smirk immediately dropped and he hung his head, as if he was ashamed of his actions. Which. . in a way, he was. He was ashamed that he had to ask Eva for help once again.
However, Eva was the only person he could go to without getting into an interrogation situation. His parents were rarely ever there and William had gone off to London with Noora. So, at the end of the day, Eva Kviig Mohn was the only one Christoffer Schistad had left.
To reply, he shook his head, getting weakly into the bathtub. The hot water sprayed him and thawed the parts of him that were frozen.
The hurt sketched in his eyes made something in Evaâs stomach churn and her heart made an unfamiliar clench. She saw how broken and lost he was â Eva was the only person, apart from William, who saw that. So, she got to her knees, sighing.
She leaned up and switched on the speakers she had left in her bathroom and hooked her phone to it. Moments later Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips played at a good volume. The song was calming in a way.
When life leaves you high and dry
Iâll be at your door tonight
If you need help, if you need help.
Iâll shut down the city lights,
Iâll lie, cheat, Iâll beg and bribe
To make you well, to make you well.
Eva returned her attention to the boy she so hopelessly was learning to care for. Chris had his head leaning against the wall beside the tub. Eva sighed silently, before taking the shower head and putting the water to a medium heat.
When enemies are at your door
Iâll carry you away from war
If you need help, if you need help.
Your hope dangling by a string
Iâll share in your suffering
To make you well, to make you well.
With her feather-like hands, and curious eyes, Evaâs hands searched Chrisâs body for marks and evidence of blood.
There were scrapes along his abs and one on his shoulder. What still worried her the most was the gash he had along his cheek. Her hands smoothly glided over his perfect skin, gently wiping away the blood.
âHey. .â Eva lovingly called, cupping his face with her hands and making him face her. With the sponge she was using, she lifted her right hand and swiped the blood from scratch on his face.
Give me reasons to believe
That you would do the same for me.
And I would do it for you, for you.
Baby, Iâm not moving on
Iâll love you long after youâre gone.
For you, for you.
You will never sleep alone.
Iâll love you long after youâre gone
And long after youâre gone, gone, gone.
Chris smiled, then leaned his forehead against hers.
Eva understood. She understood that he didnât want to get into fights, but it was in his nature to be aggressive. She understood that sometimes he needed to fight because the Yakuza guys insulted the only family Chris had.
âIâm right here,â Eva mumbled, pressing a kiss to Chrisâs injury.
Both Chris and Eva knew that there was a deeper meaning to what she said. Sheâd made him a promise - a promise of always being there, through thick and thin.
Minutes later, when Nooraâs favourite song began to play, Eva helped the tired Chris out of the tub. She, then, helped it become dry and they realized that taking off his briefs would have been a good idea.
Eva blushed, quickly going to her bathroom cupboards. She rummaged through it until she found few of the many clothes that heâd left at her house. She took out his black crew neck t-shirt, grey tracks and briefs. Handing them over, she turned around, just until he changed his underwear.
Everything felt so intimate. It wasnât meant to. It wasnât casual hooking-up anymore. It had become something much deeper and they both knew there wasnât any way out.
Once heâd changed, Eva helped him into his tracks and t-shirt before leading him back to back.
Eva got some alcohol to patch up the places where he had gotten hurt. The only place he really needed a band-aid was his shoulder.
âThank you,â strangled out Chris, his voice full of pain, regret and âŚbroken.
Eva, once again, smiled at him lovingly, pressing her forehead against. She gave him an Eskimo kiss which made him laugh.
His laugh was everything to her. It was so joyous. . so happy. . so beautiful.
âIâll always be right here,â she said, again, to assure him of any of the doubts circulating his mind.
Chris gasped, a certain feeling swirling in him. He loathed this feeling. He had no clue to what it was but he hated it.
But he forgot about his hatred at once, when Eva began pressing her warm lips to each of his scratches, as she gently pushed him back on the bed. She quickly discarded her pants and top, revealing her black lace underwear, before straddling him.
Leaning down, she pressed a full kiss to his lips. Their chemistry was inevitable. There was something so individualistic about it. Chris groaned as she descended downwards, promising him of her existence in his life.
And in that moment, Chris knew: he was doomed.
