So I´m compilling here all it was said and done (nothing) about this au where me, and an nonny, throw ideas to fix this mess know as Krakoa. Its not on order but I think you guys can understand.

The main themes for Azazel's life in that verse would be the lack of a choice, lack of closure and external forces being at play most of the time : Just like his parents didn't have a choice but to move out of their country because they lost their home and family and were dealing with massive grief of all of that, Azazel didn't have a choice being born mutant, didn't have a choice in not being raised by his parents, didn't have a choice in being passed around like a hot pocket by plenty of governments to be used as a tool, didn't have a choice in being stripped of his childhood through getting literally aged up through experiments, didn't have a choice in losing his parents, didn't have a choice in his permanent name, ...

Just like he didn't have a choice in not raising Kurt in that verse or knowing he existed until the kid was nearly an adult.

It would have been too easy to have his parents plain hating him and giving him a crappy name as consequence. Instead, he doesn't know what they would have called him, how they would have reacted to him since he was taken at birth, if they would have abandoned him or not, if they would have accepted him for who he was, if he would have been raised by them lovingly, if he would have converted to Judaism since it would have been his right with a Jewish father, ...

Even when he takes things into his own hands by leaving those governments and seeking closure and belonging somewhere, he is met with a wall and incomplete information all around.

The governments named him Azazel because it's what he was : Whenever something doesn't go the way they wanted when using him, he was deemed a failure and the reason for things backfiring and gets sent away elsewhere so they wouldn't need to deal with him anymore. He's someone else's problem now. A scapegoat.

I'll start by saying I'm not sure if anyone brought this up here ? But what still pisses me off to this day about Nightcrawler being made into this saviour to all of Krakoa from their horrible laws because "he was the only one to see their flaws" during Way of X is that, not only is he fully responsible for one of those laws as he didn't think it through in any way beyond making it to get Mystique to shut up, but there was canonically already one guy on Krakoa who foresaw the consequences of Nightcrawler's law and tried to stop it very early on...

AND FOR THAT THE QUIET COUNCIL SENT HIM INTO THE PIT

I feel people would try to justify the whole "Kurt is killed" - if we are honest he died two times, in the days of future past and in Bastian- by "lol no one stays dead in marvel" which fair (I can hear the gasp) no one stays dead. But Kurt was dead for some time....not one of them was worried Azazel would start his reign of terror?

This is the most homophobic concept I've ever heard of and it's literally what Nightcrawler's origins would be like if this was allowed to pass in the 80s from everything Claremont established between how Margali was added into the story, Nightcrawler being abandoned at birth and Rogue being adopted since she was a child by Mystique and Destiny

If they even bother reading what was established before those two even showed up in the comics in Days of Future Past, they'll get four pieces of information :

Nightcrawler's father's name was Eric Wagner and he died not far from him when Kurt was found as a baby by Margali Szardos (Character description page from the 1980s)

Nightcrawler's mother was a human and found dead next to him when he was found as a baby by Margali Szardos (X-Men annual from 1980)

Nightcrawler once mentioned that he knew the Wagner family and none of them were mutants like him (Uncanny X-Men)

Nightcrawler lost both of his parents when he was barely an hour old (X-Men annual)

And we know for a fact that Mystique and Destiny weren't even the initial parentage because of those pieces of information, the fact Claremont once revealed Mystique was 30 when Nightcrawler was 21 AND the fact Claremont stated he wanted Nightmare as Nightcrawler's father and even planned on revealing it in that same X-Men annual from 1980 which was a crossover with Doctor Strange

Personally ? Claremont couldn't have thought up of that version of the parentage when he first wrote Mystique and Destiny into X-Men because those two were responsible for Days of Future Past where, need I remind you, nearly all mutants get wiped out including Nightcrawler so what was the point of having this baby if they didn't raise him and would have let him die from their own actions nearly immediately after returning to his life during a terrorist attack they orchestrated that he helped in stopping ?

Mystique and Destiny would have turned out to be the biggest idiots ever if that parentage was revealed and that's saying something when their first big mission needed the intervention of a time traveller (Kitty Pryde) to stop them, which she succeeded in even with Destiny's precognitive abilities not seeing either the time traveller or DoFP coming to bite her in the ass

I think that Wikipedia needs to be corrected because Abyss is a mutant : We got a mountain of evidence for that and he was literally locked up in an Orchis prison during Fall of X with the other mutants and had an X-Gene nullifying collar on him while he was there. Only mutants have an X-Gene guys

I'm gonna correct that blogger on something, it's not their fault because so many writers came by to retcon or change things and editorial was a mess back then. Here's the most cohesive explanation about that story before all that shebang became a bullshit storyline :

Azazel wasn't fully out of the Brimstone Dimension, he was rather incomplete power wise when Margali helped him escape. The best way I understood it back then is that his physical form got on Earth no problem but the seal magically locked his full potential and his army out which were both needed for any kind of invasion/takeover, which was his ultimate goal.

His children were conceived to remove the seal as a sacrifice and through it help him be restored and get his armies out. Those that survived the ritual either joined him or got struck down by him as some canonically rebelled. What was very important is that those children were mutants and at least one of them had the same ties as him to the Brimstone Dimension (Nightcrawler) to help with the whole invasion and quest for freedom.

In other words, if someone just castrated Azazel or made sure Nightcrawler would never be born, not a single invasion would have happened.

That should be it, you know before the issues I explained that happened with editorial. Honestly that shitty plotline could have been salvaged if anyone bothered.

Hi nonny thank you for the clarification. I always found odd the whole "Azazel needs to have babies to stick around" this makes a bit more sense ....and it is shocking how Azazel is now redeemed. Look, I'm not really fan of "character A is bad but character B is much worse that makes the other looks good in contrast" but Azazel wins here for not siding with a nazi, for showing some care for Nils...you may say "he was worrying about his own skin" maybe, don't deny that but... Keep in mind when she, Raven, was the mom...she had no love for Kurt and the only moment we see her caring for Kurt in the comics is when axis happened and heroes and villains had their personality switched. That's it.

If you remove mystique from the equation, there would be no difference in the baby she made with destiny because you would have gotten the same result if destiny and azazel had sex since azazel was used extensively to make the baby while mystique is nowhere in there

Hell, there's nothing from Mystique either when you remember how many mutants are randomly just blue in Marvel Comics (Beast, Copycat, Archangel, ...) and the fact Azazel's eyes are also gold like hers but contrary to him, she doesn't have nightvision... While Nightcrawler fucking does. Meaning Nightcrawler's golden eyes are Azazel's not Mystique's.
