Kurt arched an eyebrow when Blaine said it was nothing worth mentioning. Ā He was sure there was more to the store and he was about to egg Blaine on before he started taking, āOhh co-captain?ā He bit his lower lip, āIs that all the two of you were?ā Ā He couldnāt help but wonder if there was more there than just friendship with a fellow Warbler. Ā He smirked at the story, though, āWell, at least if we go to a club Iāll be there so you can just cling to me.ā
Kurt smiled a little and shook his head, āI got over my crush fairly quickly,ā he shrugged, āI think it was more the feeling he gave me. Ā He was the first guy who was ever really nice to me in high school. Ā When heād walk down the hall in his letterman jacket it was like he was superman,ā Kurt smiled fondly, āthere to save the day.ā Ā He shrugged, ābut I came to realize that there was no way he would be interested in me and that I was looking for love in the wrong place.ā Ā He blushed when Blaine said why wait, āI was just worried about him throwing his life away to hold Rachelās purse while she went to auditions. Ā He just seemed so directionlessā¦ā Ā He looked at Blaine and shrugged a shoulder, āI mean, I get where youāre coming from. Ā Marriage equality is a big deal and I never really thought that there was a certain age I should get married. Ā I mean, I always knew I wanted to be married by at least thirty, but until recently I never really pictured that happening.ā Ā The blush was back on his cheeks in full force and he cleared his throat, āUh, yeah. Heāll call and tell me whatās going on. Ā Theyāre actually doing Little Shop of Horror for their musical this year, at my suggestion, so I think Iām going to go for moral support.āĀ
Ā A smirk came to Kurtās lips, āWell you get me started on fashion, sometimes I canāt stop Mr. Anderson,ā He grinned at him, ābesides, I think itās about time I see this infamous bowtie collection of yours.ā Ā He glanced down at the menu again, āI think thatās what I had last time. Ā Itās pretty good.ā Ā He smiled back at Blaine then and was about to make a joke about being adventurous, but smiled over at the waitress, āIāll have the shimp linguini and a diet coke, and he will have a Penny Cobb salad.ā He smiled over at Blaine, liking the fact that he could order for Blaine.
What dressing would you like?
Kurtās question had Blaine wondering the same, because while he had always thought of Sebastian as a friend, but Sebastian was always a difficult person to read. āIād like to think that weāre friends, but I honestly have no idea if he feels the same. As ex-Warblers, we do still keep in touch with each other. He texts me from time to time, but I have a feeling he was just bored and wanted someone to pass the time with.ā He remarked casually, shrugging a bit.Ā āItās embarrassing, but there was a point where I actually thought that he liked me since he came on to me pretty strongly when we first met, but over time I realized that he was just a naturally flirty person.ā He laughed lightly, shaking his head beforeĀ returning his attention back to Kurt.Ā āIāll take that as aĀ go-ahead signal to cling to you if I ever get drunk again. Fair warning, though. I can be really clingy sometimes.ā He smiled a bit teasingly at the end, hoping that Kurt wouldnāt take him too seriously, even though the last part was sort of true to some extent.
Blaine gave Kurt a small smile, then a nod, before saying,Ā āI guess you and I both have had unrequited crushes back in high school.ā He understood what Kurt meant when he said it was the feeling Finn gave him more than anything else. The students at his old school used to go out of their way to make his life miserable, so when Jeremiah spoke to him like he was a normal person, it was like finding a drop of water in the desert; it gave him hope. It was hard not to like Jeremiah when he was the only person who treated him kindly at that point in time. āI donāt have a letterman jacket, but if weāre talking about superheroesā¦I might have thought about starting a superheroes club back in high school. I even have my costume andĀ alias all figured out.ā He chuckled, ducking his head briefly to hide the slight flush in his cheeks.Ā āBut um - Iām guessing Finn and Rachel are no longer together? I remember you mentioning that she was seeing someone here. If thatās the case, then I suppose itās unfortunate that things didnāt work out for them in the end.ā He didnāt know Finn and Rachel that well, or at all, but he could still recall the way they looked at each other when they were performing on the stage, and it was disheartening to know that even a power couple like them couldnāt make it through.Ā āDoes that mean you can picture yourself getting married now?ā Blaine asked on purpose, just to see the blush on Kurtās face again.Ā āThe musical sounds like a lot of fun. Do you mind if I tag along? I think itās about time I check in with the guys at Dalton and see how theyāre doing, anyway.āĀ
There was a bubble of happiness inside Blaineās chest when Kurt ordered for him. Growing up, he was constantly overshadowed by Cooper, making him feel like he needed to put in extra effort just to be noticed. Hence, something as simple as ordering for him actually made him feel included, which, might sound silly for some people, but Blaine had always wanted to matter to someone, and it was as if Kurt could tell, because Kurt had always made him feel like he was someone special and important.Ā āIāll have a dash ofĀ basil vinaigrette, please. On the side, thank you.āĀ He replied politely, smiling at the waitress and watching her leave before turning back to face Kurt again, saying, āWell, you could always come over to my place tonight if youāre free. Iāll show you whatās inside my wardrobe and satisfy that curiosity of yours. After all, I always aim to please.ā
Kurt nodded once as Blaine talked about Sebastian, cutting his eyes slightly when Blaine mentioned Sebastian liking him. Ā He would have to keep his eye on this Sebastian character. Even if he was just naturally flirty, Kurt didnāt want him flirting with his man. He shrugged a little, āI can take clinginess. Ā Well, in moderation,ā he smirked. āSeriously, though, I bet youāre a cute drunk. Ā Not that you arenāt cute sober.ā
He sighed and shook his head, āI guess we have. But, in the end I think things turned out pretty well. Ā If those crushes had been reciprocated, we might not be here now.ā Ā He tilted his head and looked at Blaine, a smirk coming to his lips, āOh, so you have a superhero kink, is that it?ā he joked and sat back, smirking at his boyfriend, āI bet you have an actual costume hidden in your closet back home.ā Ā He took a drink and sighed a little, sadly, āNo, they arenāt. Ā Sheās seeing Brody,ā he rolled his eyes, āNot really a fan. Ā I mean, at first I was happy for her, but now he practically lives with us. Ā He even walked around naked once. When I was at home. And I gotta say,ā he said and then leaned in slightly, whispering out of the corner of his mouth, ānot really impressive.ā Ā He sat back then and looked at Blaine when he asked the question about marriage, āYeah, yeah I can. Ā Especially now that Iām in New York.ā Ā He shrugged, āWhen we were in high school it seemed so far away. Ā I always wanted to get married, but now it doesnāt seem so impossible.ā Ā When Blaine mentioned tagging along with him back home, Kurt nodded, āIād love that, actually. It will be nice to have someone to spend some time with. Ā And maybe you can meet my family. Ā If you want.ā
After Blaine ordered his dressing, Kurt smiled softly and nodded. Ā Excitement bubbled in his stomach as he thought about the prospect of being alone with Blaine that night. Ā Maybe they could go a little farther than they had been. Ā A part of Kurt wanted to just blow off the rest of his classes and go now, āOh you aim to please?ā He smiled just a little and bit his lip, āYouāre making it really hard to want to go to class...ā he trailed off and sat back, then reached out to take Blaineās hand, āMaybe we can go to the grocery store and we can pick up some things for dinner? Ā We can have a nice quiet night alone.ā
