I'm always this kind

He kept the apartment in the particular state of order that crept in when he was unhappy. Everything in its place, surfaces clear, control applied to his apartment because the things that actually needed it were out of reach now.

He answered the messages he needed to answer.

He did not answer two of them, however.

The first was Dileo's e-mail, which sat in his phone with the patient indifference of a thing that did not know it was being avoided.

The second was Hinata's photograph.

In the week after the final Oikawa is okay.

More or less.

Which really means he is running too much, avoiding the match footage, not answering the email that could change his career, and leaving Hinata’s photograph untouched at the bottom of their chat.

Then Hinata sends a voice message about a stray, orange cat and a good practice.

No new messages.

Hinata had gone quiet at midnight with a simple Good luck tomorrow that Oikawa read too many times then put down without responding to, because any response that wasn’t the thing he actually wanted to say felt wrong, and the thing he actually wanted to say was not something he was going to send at midnight before the final match.

The final arrives after seven days of footage, routines, too much training, and the quiet pressure of knowing exactly how much one match can mean.

There is nothing left for Oikawa to prepare.

"What are you actually scared of?" Hinata sent.

Not are you scared? Which would have been easier to deflect, but what, the question already past the denial stage, treating the feeling as established fact and only asking for its shape.

Oikawa sat with that for a moment.

Playing the match I'm capable of, he typed finally, and it not being enough.

So, it’s been a while. 

I don’t know who actually still uses this website anymore, but just in case anyone is still here after all these years. I finally decided it was time to give fanfiction a go! 

It started as a one-shot and is growing into... something I guess. Thanks to some nice comments I got I’m having a go at writing a multiple chapter OiHina fic set in Argentina/Brazil during the timeskip.

It’s my first fic so it’s definitely far from perfect and could probably be improved in many ways, but I’m having a lot of fun writing it.

I was actually thinking about you and Ry and Bre and all the fun we had back in the day. One of my biggest regrets was not making the time to stay in touch after I moved abroad. I randomly decided to log back in today to reminisce looking through old posts and I see this message from you and I want to cry.

I'm well! Still in Japan, now a science teacher of all things 😅

I don't know how many of my friends and people I used to regularly speak to are still active here so I may just be shouting into the void, but I wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful 4 ish years I spent on this website, I made some amazing friends and have some really fun memories, and honestly sometimes if I'm having a bad day I do go back and read some of the truly lovely messages I've been sent in the past.

The only social media I actively use these days is Instagram so if anyone wants to keep in touch or just wants to see pretty pictures of Japan please message me and I will give you my username (it's my real name so I won't be posting it publicly for obvious reasons)
