That quiz @iridcsccnt did with their characers sounded fun.... Hereâs my Kaitoâs result:

Nothing feels better to you than making something new from nothing. It would take rope, some tape, and quite possibly a triple-locked door to keep you from your creative pursuits. You are expressive and unique, and refuse to be boxed in. Some are put off or left behind by your passion for the things that matter to you. Occasionally, you would do well to slow down and ground yourself in the present. Check in with others, take a break, and let yourself worry less about that lofty goal of yours.

Kaitoâs smirk when he noticed the other trying to figure out where he had hidden the pen before was barely noticeable, but there. He was definitely not going to make it easy for any nosy detective to figure that out. There was a reason why he practiced his sleight of hand so much.
Iâve explored a little, but Iâve only had two weeks here. So you pick, cheap please, if possible. Iâm not loaded.
While his father was famous enough and smart enough to make a good amount of money and save the surplus... as well as contracting life insurance. The savings had been dwindling over time with Chikage jetting around the world more and more and Kaito going to school. Heâd been taking care of the bills and finances for a few years now, which was probably a good thing. Especially lately, he had cut his motherâs credit card off every now and then when she started going overboard (she wouldnât starve, she was a thief) to ensure the house maintenance could be paid as well as low budget food for himself until, well... about three months from now. He would need to find some work soon. His kind of thieving didnât exactly pay off.
For the rest of the lecture he settled in and listened, but it was a cursory overlook at the course at most and he soon found an online crossword game with unusual English words. Good to pass time while listening with one ear but still learning something. A broad vocabulary was always an advantage.

There was a small grimace about the âstillâ on Kaitoâs face. Yeah... he wasnât too great at sitting still either. But he let any comments slide for the professor starting to talk and in favor of tilting his laptop with the course schedule.
He glanced at the paper though once it was pushed towards him and lifted a brow. Hakuba hadnât filled his week all that much? Then again, if he was still solving cases to the side that made a lot of sense. And he himself had always been weird with thriving on being overly busy, he was more productive if he had a high work load.
The professor was still at introductions, so he let a pen appear in his hands that must have come from somewhere on his body as he hadnât reached into the bag, nor stole one from his old classmate.
No. Lunch? Kinda starving already.
Kaito had never been much of a grudge holder. And since Hakuba had become less pressing on the KID fact, he wasnât one to keep holding off. People could change. And the whole sitting with Hakuba was not really that selfless. Moving countries was a strange thing and Hakuba was a welcome familiarity after all the Englishness... even if he was half-English too. And then there was the fact that Kaito knew how intelligent the detective was, so working with him was going to be challenging and entertaining.
âAh, joy about being silent and attentive for hours first.â He demonstatrively leaned forward and stretched his upper body over the small table, letting his arms dangle off the other side. Five seconds later his head popped up again though and the rest followed.
âWhat a start...â A man walked in and headed for the front, so assumingly that was their professor. He opened up an empty document on his computer for any potential notes. And then another file with his whole schedule on it after which he tilted the screen slightly towards Hakuba to let him see properly.
Most of his classes were rather basic; introductory chemistry organic and anorganic, introductory physics, a class on statistics, social psychology, biopsychology, motivational psychology, methodology. Some took up more time than others, especially lab courses.

If you do believe in the afterlife, what kind of afterlife do you think awaits you?
âTo be honest⌠I entertain more of a thought that once you die⌠poof. The things that keep you together cease and all the energy returns to the universe freely. So youâre just gone. Sounds more peaceful to me than any form of heaven and hell most religions entertain.â
If youâve ever had a near-death experience, describe what happened and what you saw/experienced.
âItâs⌠entirely mundane. Itâs much like waking up and itâs morning or you stand on a platform and the train is arriving in an entirely normal fashion. At some point you become aware that you might die, maybe that the most likely outcome is death, but it doesnât change the world nor does it slow down for me or anything. Because it is as mundane as everything that happens. And you go on and maybe you die, maybe you donât after all and things still keep moving and being normal. I have to add though that if youâre close to dying due to an injury⌠itâs cold, just cold and that sucks.â
âYou look like you werenât expecting more group work... Is England really different? I thought that was a thing everywhere, a dreadful thing. Probably all about teaching self discipline and cooperation or something. Although I have always imagined itâs just the teachers being sadists. Itâs probably like watching the hunger games from that end.â He sighed and slouched back into a more relaxed and comfortable position on his new chair.
âI also hope we get some material now, my first lab was disappointing. All just introductions and safety rules, like we havenât touched a single chemical or lab equipment in the past.â He plucked a small white notebook from his bag and flipped it open, entering a password with fingers too fast to follow.
The desktop was clean and nearly empty with a background of smoke on black, he had clearly stripped it from any unnecessary programs that could clog up efficiency. And once he opened the internet browser, it switched to one of the London newspapers as its home.
There wasnât really any displeasure he held for magic being mentioned. It was just a concept he hadnât yet decided to introduce, but there wasnât a reason why not. Despite talking big in high school, Kuroba Kaito had always been a goof, even then, so people kept on believing he was a party trickster more than a big stage candidate. Most of them werenât aware that a lot of the small scale tricks he used were considered harder than stage magic, since he wasnât able to control his audience and the angles. But he had always enjoyed that challenge to bring magic to live in the most mundane of situations and not be caught in the trick, even from behind.
âAokoâs been pretty pissed about me moving away. She threatened to come visit.â He snickered. âHer old manâs good too. Still yelling about KID and all, heâs pissed that KID had done some international stuff this summer that is out of his jurisdiction.â The smile on his face was almost fond now.
But then he looked left and right at the two students he had been chatting with before Hakuba came. âI think I finally found someone to stick to for all the dreadful partner and group projects.â And with a bright grin he slipped out of his seat and propped his bag on the table next to Hakuba before rounding the row and slipping into the seat next to the blonde.
âThat is, if you donât mind?â He tilted his head slightly.

It was beautiful. Kaito nearly laughed when the detective visibly paused as he stumbled over the implications of those words. But it was quite clear that he was merely close to laughter because he obviously knew that it was going to be hard to believe and not because it was a joke, as the blonde rightfully concluded.
The grin still never left his face, even as he was scrutinized. His face however changed for a second when magic was mentioned. Well... oops that was something he hadnât told Mary and Rob about, so it was their turn to look surprised. âMagic?â Was her surprised question.
The slightly caught expression quickly changed into something a little more airy, making it look like this was not a big deal to the two listeners. âI still dabble, but if you look at it from an objective view. Where can I get without really having a master? Whoâs going to take me up? Iâm... there is not that many with a similar style to mine. And as our teachers always preached to everyone that had a wish to join entertainment industries or anything potentially fleeting. Itâs always good to have a back up. And as weird as it sounds, but hanging out at Aokoâs place a lot... I got at least a little familiar with police work.â Not to mention his other hobbies, due to which Hakuba was struggling to wrap his head around this most likely. And then there were those reasons that barely anyone was aware of.
Hakuba: Youâre really quite good. Conan: Oh, uh, thanks. Hakuba: If youâre already this bright now, youâre bound to be downright incredible when youâre my age. Conan: ⌠Conan: I suspect Iâm going to plateau, actually.

âIâd have called it inuition rather than deduction.â Using his flexibility he twisted around fully, so his legs were stradling the chair and he could lean his arms on the backrest, all without even getting off it, he smirked back. âOr maybe a mix thereof. Criminology, eh? I suppose in that case we might end up having a few more courses together. My other half of the major is criminal sciences.âÂ
Kaitoâs eyes were dancing with a mix of mirth and expectation. âIâve always enjoyed chemistry and physics.â
There it was! Barely noticable, but he could still tell that he had gotten the blonde by surprise, quite a bit that was, considering the business smile that wasnât one of those true smirks he knew the detective was capable of. And the fact that he had spoken Japanese was even more of a give-away.
Kaitoâs grin widened slightly. âWell, I sort of decided I want a bit of a change of scenes. Iâve been living in Tokyo for most of my life and foreign experience is worth a lot to Japanese employers.â He had swiched back to Japanese as well, at least for the sentence and with it his smile had mellowed back too, so that the intent of it did not come across as mocking.
âSo Iâm a psych major... well, half of my major is anyways. How about you?â The transmission into English was smooth and he had obviously practiced as his pronunciation was natural, but also quite neutral, he was lacking the hint of slang and slur of any of the local accents. âOh, and this is Mary.â A gesture towards the young woman followed. âAnd Rob.â The young man to his other side. âTheyâre both psych majors, but I have a feeling youâre not.â

It was a little strange, but that was not showing on Kaitoâs face as he was sitting not quite at the front, but neither at the very back of the lecture hall. It was the second lecture of the semester that he had, the first one had been in a lab and it had been very boring. Because after the introductions of the professor and his TAs they had droned on and on.... an on about lab safety and rules, like none of them had ever seen a chem lab. Heâd nearly fallen asleep.
This one seemed to be more promising, less interactive, but he hoped they would get to cover some sort of lecture material past introductions. Two people already sat with him and they started some smalltalk chit-chat that he was participating in to cause a laugh here and there with a silly comment.
One more thing that made this slightly strange was the fact that for the first time in his life he was at a learning institution without a uniform. And Kaito actually had done some research to make sure he did not stand out after dressing in the morning. So there he was, dressed in a pair of black slacks, canvas sneakers and a white button up with the top two buttons popped open and a dark grey jumper covering the rest. Watches werenât uncommon, so he had put on a subtle silver one on his left wrist, since checking time on his phone might have brought some negative attention to him. (And he was not quite there yet.)
What he hadnât lost however, was his posture, relaxed and open as he was leaned back in the chair, one ankle resting on his opposite knee, leaving enough space for his hands to gesture freely. Neither had he lost the mess he called hair that some called artfully styled while others leaned more towards the term birdâs nest. Not his fault entirely though, against some opinions he did comb it, regularly, but he didnât bother to try taming it with hair products.
When a new person entered the room, his eyes discretely wandered over towards the door. For a fraction of a second and only someone who knew to keep attention this closely the surprise, near shock was visible on his face and he had to keep himself from a double take. But his expression smoothed over quickly enough for his conversation partners not to notice at all.
It was then that Kaito chose to actually sit up and turn his upper body slightly towards the door, waving with a grin. âHakuba!â And that made the other two look over as well, halting in their conversation to look at the newcomer.
6, 16, & 17 ( = genuinely pleased ) !
Jealous
Luckily enough he does not get jealous too easily, but if he does - he is a bit sulky and also petty, more than a little petty probably. Very petty in his eyes, but the pettiness still stays harmless, aside from being annoying.
UncomfortableÂ
That one is very tricky to spot. It is another one of those emotions he tends to hide behind his pokerface. But there is option one for his reaction: extract himself from the situation. However, if he feels like he needs to stay for any reason, he will just smile through it and secretly bear it. A very good observer might notice that his whole body language and facial expression might be a hint more neutral or a bit dissmissive.
genuinely pleased
For the most part: beaming, laughing, letting the joy show. He might also be slightly flustered if it involved his personal emotions directly.
