Philippines Manila!!!!

ONE OK ROCK, a Japanese rock band consist of Takahiro Moriuchi on vocals, Ryota Kohama on bass, Toru Yamashita on lead guitar and Tomoya Kanki on drums, invaded Manila for their ‘35xxxv’ Asian Tour.

 Philippines has been very lucky to be part of this tour and after several adjournments for the band in coming in our country, they finally made it and brought us a sick performance that every ONE OK ROCK fan won’t forget. A night full of sing-a-longs and screaming, every lyrics of the song knew by the Filipino fans (even the Japanses part). That’s the level of our love. No language barrier, the song itself hit us right in the feels. Some say “music is the universal language”. It is!  Fans gathered outside the arena as early as you can imagine. “Filipino time”? (the very famous line ‘cause it’s the usual thing for us Filipino being late in everything), but going to concert is not counted. LOL. It’s worth the wait!  Members of the band came up to the stage: Toru, Ryota, Tomoya and Taka were very ecstatic to play. ‘35xxxv’, a pure instrumental track, as an appetizer of the set followed by the very upbeat ‘Take Me to the Top’. The feeeels, yes, I’m listening to the 35xxxv album live now.  Filipino fans cannot hide their happiness during the show. The crowd got wilder in each song they played; Memories, Deeper Deeper, Stuck in the Middle, Last Dance, Cry Out and many more. On their song Clock Strikes got me goose bumps, the crowd sing-along to the song and we’re like a choir inside the arena.  “So this is heartache, so this is heartache…” For me this song implies to #TeamBahay who didn’t get to watch ONE OK ROCK live. Just kidding. But this song is so magical, especially in live. From Taka’s vocals matching the crowd singing and really knew the lyrics from the heart, plus the phones being lit all throughout the song that made it more special and resulted to an instagram-worthy photo. It’s like you’re in a galaxy inside Mall of Asia Arena. Amuse Inc. Asia said to their Facebook page that Manila is the loudest crowd!!! I know right! After the very heartfelt song Heartache, it followed by my favourite track from 35xxxv, the ‘Decision’. They sang it in English version (35xxxv Deluxe edition version), then I suddenly remember Tyler Carter on this one singing some parts of the song. The crowd went wild when the band sang ‘The Beginning’ (OST of Rurouni Kenshin), even though taking videos is strictly prohibited, fans (even myself) can’t help but capturing the moment.

I love how they perform, it’s too immense. I admit, I watch their live videos on YouTube sometimes so I have a little idea on how they move on stage. But it’s different when you’re being part of the show. It’s real. While I’m watching I still can’t believe that this is NOW HAPPENING. Surreal! Can’t wait for them to come back! “See you next time” Taka said before going down the stage and waving his last goodbye to us. I even shouted “I love you Taka” when he is walking out the stage and Tomoya got a microphone and said “Mahal din kita”. I assumed that it’s for me. LOL.
