do u ever think about how since no one knew YB was responsible for Pegasus's death, at the beginning of Battle City from everyone's perspective it had been well over a year since Yami Bakura did anything objectionable and comparatively like five minutes since Atem tried to help Kaiba commit suicide by duel disk. kind of hard to argue under those circumstances that Bakura shouldn't bring his cursed amulet to the function but Yugi totally can. double standards.

Kaiba doesn't show up to the ceremonial duel but we do get a cut to him and Mokuba inexplicably standing in the desert afterwards so imo what happened is that Yugi and Atem did invite him but Kaiba was like "Hmph. You want me to fly halfway across the world and watch you do some meaningless occult ritual? Don't waste my time." but because he's Kaiba his real plan was to make everyone watch him arrive dramatically at the last second and then absolutely watch the ceremony while standing off to the side with his arms crossed the whole time. but he was too late so by the time he landed the jet the rite was over and he saw everyone was leaving so he went nevermind and left without a word. and Mokuba was all "But we just got here? I thought you wanted to watch the thing? Yugi's right over there, you don't want to go say hi?" but Kaiba's still embarrassed and secretly very upset that he missed it so he was like "no we're LEAVING." and to this day Yugi still thinks that Kaiba just ghosted him on it.
