On very specific parts of TikTok I’m seeing a lot of videos about how Max Riemelt and Tom Schilling dominate the film industry and it quite confuses me. Now im not extremely educated in German film, but most people don’t know Max except for him in NaPolA. Comparing actors like Max and Tom and openly saying they dominate the German film industry truly confuses me, especially when there are actors like August Diehl, Christolph Waltz (though he’s more now into Hollywood than he is just German film.), Daniel Brühl, ETC, very much household names.
Tom and Max are great actors and I’ve watched more of Tom Schilling’s discography than I have Riemelt’s in all truth, still a great actor nonetheless. I am briefly educated in these topics (I really just enjoy watching movies.), but an outside opinion is very helpful sometimes.
It’s almost extremely contradicting as myself, an American, to be having such an opinion on German film, but alas!!
I watch way too many german period dramas for an american but im not going to stop anytime soon
i cried 8 times yesterday only on episode 2
