The season of anxiety
Looking ahead of our futures with a hazy view can bring us anxiousness since we do not know what lies ahead. Whether it is the uncertainty of job security, supporting a family, or careers, the fact that we do not know what will happen concerns us. This is the nature that we’re in, not knowing what will happen or where we will be. For those who enjoy planing and seeking what’s ahead, the fact that we can plan so much, but only to realize that our planning can only take us so far brings us anxiety. Planners feel the pressure and stress of this situation for we want to have a level of control of our lives and the direction it goes. But, who is it to say that we have this much control in our lives. It is uncertain that we will live tomorrow. A unfortunate circumstance may occur where our lives will end... God forbid if that were to happen, but the point is that we have no final say about the outcome of our future. We can plan so much, yet still have no idea what will happen. What are we to do then knowing that we have less control than expected?
Remembering what He has called us to do.. God made a explicit promise to Abraham that he will be a blessing to those around him. He promises Abraham these things and Abraham believed. This is what counted him as righteous. The belief in God’s word. Do we have the same kind of faith? Not sure if this directly answers the question, but we are part in the family of faith, which includes Abraham along with many famous members of this family of faith. Once this sea of doubt rolls into our minds, we ought to remember the promises of God that he gives to his people. We should rely and put our faith in his steadfast love and undeniable truth. But let’s be honest, this is much easier said than done. For the doubts and anxiety feel ever so real in our lives to the point where it clouds our sight of the cross. How much greater is God than our doubts though. How much larger is his ability to overcome these doubts and to prevail. How often did Jesus prove the disciples wrong and display to them his wonder and power. We must remember the word. It is critical to be reminded of his character and truth. And so this season of anxiousness and doubt will come and go. However, our God will remain the same and we can trust his consistent/dependable character to keep us stable in times of doubt.
