After his personal experience with Kyoko’s special coffee, he doesn’t want to go near any of it ever again to be precise. Arata shuddered at the memory.

“It’s amazing you managed to survive all of that but how did you do it?” It’s not like he wanted to know Takumi does it but whoever survived Kyoko’s coffee blends must be that strong to endure those tastes. The secret ingredients for Kyoko’s coffee blends isn’t worth knowing.

Ah, that explains it. Arata nodded, he stirred his coffee using a spoon. He won’t say it loud but Hudie’s coffee shop has better blends or even K-Cafe… “If she comes around again asking me to be one of her volunteers to taste coffee, I have my sources from the K-Cafe or the one downtown at Hudie.”

The hacker gaped at Takumi, they’re more dangerous than he has imagined. He couldn’t help but blurt out.

“You did what?!” He has a look of concern on his face. Arata isn’t sure if he’s joking or not. Showing one of his big brother vibe, Arata sighed.

“Geez, Takumi. Those are some crazy cases you’re dealing there! Remind me to tag along with you if you want some help.”

“Oh, I suppose I didn’t tell you about Tankmon, did I?” Honestly, it was one of the more dangerous cases he’s been on. Most of that was the fact he took Kyoko’s gamble to actually Connect Jump into an oncoming death ray... He didn’t like to think about it.

“It was so sad... Some military group in America somehow designed his program to make into a weapon. Somehow he became self aware and escaped to Tokyo. In the end, I couldn’t help him.” It wasn’t one of Takumi’s finer cases. He still imagined being able to save Tankmon under different circumstances. It wasn’t the digimon’s fault that he was created the way he was, and it was clear he didn’t want to cause anyone trouble or harm. Again, digimon often failed to realize what kind of impact they had on earth through cyberspace...

Takumi was happy that Arata offered help. It was incredibly reassuring for him to hear that from his friends once in a while.

“For sure! I’d definitely ask for your help if the Occult Club comes by again. Anything else I could handle, but I don’t know what I’d do if I saw another ghost again...”

“She tried to poison me once with one of her ‘special blends’. If she likes coffee that much, why don’t she just research on some real coffee receipt like a double Frapuccino? ” Arata muttered, remembering how he passed out from the strange taste of her coffee when Kyoko willingly gave him one of his special blends.

“Listen I know Kyoko and Alphamon are the same but maybe you should try helping her out with brewing coffee? I feel sorry for those unfortunate fools who tasted her special blends.” At least this coffee isn’t so bad. Glancing at Takumi, he hasn’t heard from him for a while. “Oi, Takumi. How’s the cases going? Heard from Nokia that Kyoko’s giving you some tough ones recently.”

Takumi vaguely remembered being there for that... well on the safe side of the office door.

As much affection as he had for Arata, he couldn’t brave the chance at having to drink that coffee. Surely Arata himself had to understand after that experience...

“Honestly, I’m not so sure that her and Alphamon being synchronized with each other has anything to do with her taste in coffee?” Michiru scratched his cheek, thoughtfully. “Actually, I think all Alphamon really did was remove social convention from her inquisitive nature. Sort of like how I suppose those scientists in movies who do things because they could, as opposed to whether they should...” That’s what made the most sense to Takumi, anyways...

“I mean? I suppose it depends on your definition of “tough”...” He considers the question. “Digimon are always sort of a hassle to deal with. They often don’t understand how their actions affect life outside of cyberspace...”

Insert Arata having war flashbacks with coffee after drinking real coffee for the first time, meanwhile..

“ Who the hell puts seaweed in coffee?  I’m going to be blunt here but Kyoko isn’t fit enough to run a coffee shop. Her choices are terrible and enough to make customers run away from her coffee choices!”

“Yeah... That’s why I usually try to make the coffee before she has a chance to brew it. I’ll fix her cup to her specification and keep the pot pure.” Overall, his success rate in this tactic has been about 50%, give or take how often he wasn’t stomping about the city on a case...

“V-mon is not like that, but sometimes he can simply get distracted like a toddler” he laughed (nervously actually)

That idea… “Yeah that might work” 

And he took his D-3 from his pocket. The digivice is not only able to detect other devices, but also able to detect its owner, or the partner digimon of its owner. Such a wonderful invention.

A dot appeared on the screen. A blue dot, and there was a pink dot with it. They weren’t that far away from there (Odaiba is quite small after all) so he could find him in time.

But… If said pink dot is a Chosen Child or Chosen Digimon…

“I know where he is! But I have a bad feeling about this…” he didn’t say anything to Takumi, he just rushed in the direction the digivice had shown him. 

What if the digimon or child think V-mon is a wild digimon and start fighting him!? Or rather, opening the gate and sending him back to the Digital World??!

Little Daisuke know that the pink dot is actually Tailmon who was waiting for Hikari, who was inside the store to buy a new photographic film for her camera.

Takumi didn’t wait to be told anything. Really, he didn’t have to. Racing towards conceivable trouble was all a part of the line of duty for him. He was hot on Daisuke’s heels, following after him

“Hmmm, give her something back, and also make it extra for Taichi-san…”

That seemed a good idea in his opinion. It took a few moments to finally get the perfect idea to bake for Hikari and Taichi.

“That would work!! Thank you Aiba-san, you’re a life saver!! Let’s go, Vee–”

… ? !

“Huh!?” Daisuke looked around, trying to keep calm “Where… Where did he go!?” aaaand lost control to panic.

Aaaaand we were back to crisis mode. Just once, Takumi wished things went smoothly for a change. Would that be so hard? He wanted to speak to the manager.

“In retrospect, I feel like we could have seen that coming. Impulsive and impetuous digimon indeed...” They should really consider putting a bell on their digimon. Or, well, at least the digidestined should. Takumi’s digimon were safely tucked into his own digivice, as far as he realized.

“If I do that, Taichi might give me a Gaia Force to the head” he sighed, still not realizing V-mon wasn’t there anymore.

“But I know Hikari-chan is so good at cooking, better than me I must say. It’s not everyday that I can eat something from her.”

“Okay, well... How about you make something for her, preemptively?” Takumi suggested next. “It’d sort of be like a White Day affair. A sort of “Thank you” for the gesture, responded in kind.” It made sense to Takumi. He knew that if he made something for someone, he would feel quite thrilled to find out that person made the same.

Literally, pick a line from the western amalgam of the digimon movies, chances are that it’s one of those

“I have no idea what you meant with that. Hikari-chan made those for me and who ate them all was Vee.”

V-mon looked at him with puppy eyes, begging to be forgiven. Maybe if he could go ask Hikari to make more cookies for Daisuke it wouldn’t count as Daisuke asking for those.

So he left, running down the street and sniffing the air like a dog to discover where Tailmon is. Finding Tailmon he will find Hikari, easy like 2+2.

And Daisuke was too sad to notice V-mon leaving him behind for that small task.

“Yeahh... a lot of digimon are like that, I’ve experienced. What would Kyoko call it? “Impulsive?” maybe more like “Impetuous”. That sounds more like her.”

“It doesn’t feel the same when you ask for or when you made them by yourself…”

“I see...” Takumi considers.

“I cried in the shower because I remembered that Vee ate the last cookie Hikari-chan baked for me… And that I didn’t eat any of them either.”

“Could you not ask Hikari-chan for more cookies?”
