“True, I’m Allison and you are….?”
“Kol. Pleasure to meet you, Allison.” He gave her a smile.
Henrik looked over the treats and hummed some. “This one’s pretty good.” he smiled and pointed to a blueberry turnover. “Then again, this one is too.” he added with a hum, pointing to some of the cream chese danishes. “What were some of your favorite places you’ve been too then?” he asked curiously.
Kol looked at them, “I’ll run to get my wallet, but I when I come back I’ll take one of each.” He said, walking out of the door before using his speed to go get his wallet, walking back into the building a few seconds later, “As for your question about my favorite places, I loved France, all of Europe, actually.”
“I…well,” he tried to think of how to explain it to Kol but not give anything away at the moment. It was hard, but he didn’t know how his brother would accept that he was back–he didn’t now how he, himself, would be able to adjust to a vampire family. “The pastries and sweets are really good too. I’ve tried a lot of what’s on our menu; but the cinnamon reminds me of being a kid.” he said sheepishly. “Have you really been around the world that much?” he asked quietly, prying for information.
“Which one would you recommend? I’d like to surprise my friend with a treat, seeing as they do so much for me.” He hummed, looking into the case, then back at the boy, “I have, there’s not much to see when you’ve seen it all, but the first few times it was pretty amazing.”

There was his moment. The moment he could have told Kol the truth and tried to approach one of his siblings for the first time since he’d been back. Yet, he couldn’t bring himself to do it and instead swallowed slightly and shook his head. “My name’s Henry. I don’t think I’ve seen you around before.” he said and then nodded towards his drink. “You could just order Henry’s usual. The other workers know it’s about the only thing I drink while I’m here.” he said and offered him a slight smile.
He nodded, “okay, it just seems like you’re someone I’ve met before, which I wouldn’t doubt since I’ve been all over the world a million times,” he hummed, holding the coffee in one hand, looking at him, “you’ve got that whole huge menu and you drink this everyday? That seems like a bit of a shame, doesn’t it?”
Allison was caught off guard by how quickly the other steadied her. “Yeah, sorry I just haven’t been to New Orleans before.. I got caught up in the beauty of the city.” Allison lied. It was easier then saying she was caught up worried about why all of a sudden she was back in the land of the living. It also didn’t make her sound crazy.
Kol gave her a smile, nodding, “that’s alright, happens to the best of us, right?”
Henrik took the money and began unwadding it to put in the cash register as he addressed Kol’s question. “Uh, well I just started mixing things that tasted good to me; so there’s this mocha coffee blend and a little bit of cinnamon.” he explained. “It’s really good, I think.” he added and gave him a smile.
“So there’s no name for it? Do I just order what you told me if I want this again?” He asked, looking down at it. He hated coffee, but he wanted to try it. He also refused to bring up Davina, although he felt like the boy wasn’t a threat at this point. “What’s your name? I feel like I know you.” He blurted out.
She had sensed someone, someone who she knew, someone she had cared for. It was a feeling she had put into a box along with the feelings she felt for.. him. She wouldn’t think his name, she hadn’t in so long. That was when her eyes met the male she had been thinking of, biting her lip she looked around praying that someone would come and order a drink or occupy her attention in some way before he came over. But soon enough he was right in front of her. “Yeah.. Very.. Well.” Nadia managed to say without studdering. “I’m trying to get back into the swing of things…. Coming back from death is not easy.” She said looking down at the glass she was holding. “Kol, can I get you a drink?”
He felt cool around her even though his heart was almost beating out of his chest. He leaned against the bar, giving her a smile, “I know about coming back from the dead, it’s my second time, actually.” He nodded, “get me anything top shelf, I don’t care what it is.”

Ten days. She has been in New Orleans for ten days. She has noticed the strange activity going on, even though they were trying to hide it from the tourists and human habitants, yet she hasn’t encountered any supranational beings except for some guy who thought he could compel her into being used as a blood bank. No way she was going to let that happen ever again. But she had been too dumbfounded to respond, so she had just vamped away before he noticed his mistake. She had been lucky, she supposed, that after Montana she hadn’t met any vampire. Not that she had been looking for them anyway. She had avoided vampire contact ever since she had been turned, living on the outside of both human and supernational society, preferring solitude as she had done most of her human life.
The sun was setting, turning the sky into a different shade of blue with every second that passed, meaning the street lights were turning on and the tourists were coming outside, planning to explore the New Orleans night life. She looked down at the papers she was holding, parts of notes from her first course at NOLA university, not noticing someone who came hurrying past her in the other direction. Before she knew it, the person bumped into her, making her papers fly everywhere and her body topple towards the street. A flashback washed over her, making her unable to move as a car came racing in her direction, paralysed in fear.
Kol always happened to be in the right place at the right time, which was quickly becoming one of his downfalls. He noticed that the girl was pushed into the road, and that the traffic in New Orleans was far from calm. He rushed to the road, grabbing the girl and pushing her to the side of the road, crouching down next to her, “are you alright?” He asked, reaching out to help her up.
Henrik gave a nod and a smile before he realized how familiar the man speaking to him was. He was surprised it took as long as it did to click in his brain, but once it did; the marker in his hand dropped to the floor as he stared at the man. He forced himself to shake away his thoughts and turned to the machine. “I, uh, don’t have any in-between sized cups; but I’ll get you a medium.” he said and grabbed the caramel. It was an indescribable feeling coming face to face with his brother Kol and not being able to find the words to tell him who he was. He finished mixing things together and brought it to him. “This is one of my personal favorites.” he said and sat it in front of him. “Drink and caramel… three even.” he said.
He noticed the change of mood from him, eyeing him closely. With how this city worked and how many people had always been out to get his head, he wasn’t wrong to stay a little bit cautious. He took the cup as it was finished, reaching into his pocket to get his wallet, which was conveniently missing. He let out a light groan out of frustration, reaching into his other three pockets for any kind of money. He luckily found the three dollars he needed, handing it to him in a crumpled pile, “what is this? If it’s good I’m sure I would have to come back and order it again.”
“I swear, if one more male attempts to flirt with me in french as I am trying to make drinks, I will have no other choice than to throw glass into their eyeballs.”
He could sense something was off the second he walked into the bar. He was feeling something he hadn’t felt in a long time, his heart feeling like it was being squeezed inside of his chest. He tried shaking the feeling the best he could, making his way to the counter. That was when he saw her, wanting to turn but it was too late, she was too close and had obviously seen him, starting a conversation with the person just next to him, “Nadia,” he said softly, nodding his head towards her, “you seem to be doing well, you know, besides the harassment.”
It was a strange feeling. The sun hitting her skin again, the smell of the city an unfamiliar city but the statement still stood. Her dark hues took in the sights as she wandered. The last thing she remembered was bleeding out in the arms of Scott, missing her father, and praying Lydia wouldn’t be joining her. That fear still lingered in the back of her mind, she had no clue how the pack was doing. If they were alright or even alive.. Was she even alive? Or was she something else? In all honesty the hunter couldn’t tell. So absorbed in her worries, she ran straight into someone else. “I’m sorry…” She breathed, “I was distracted.”
Kol had been waiting for a witch to deal with, needing certain supplies for a spell to try. He was standing around, looking down at his phone, trying to make himself look less suspicious and fit in more, which caused him to run into someone. He grabbed her shoulders to keep her from falling, smiling at her, “It’s alright, love, it was a bit of my fault too. Are you okay?”
Every day had been the same since Henrik had been practically handed his barista job and told he needed to ‘live’ again. The Mikaelson woke up; took a minute to get adjusted to his adult body some more; found his clothes and tugged them on; then ventured out the door. It was probably a highly entertaining show for onlookers watching the poor guy jump and try to not freak out completely at passing motor vehicles. Henrik hated those contraptions.
At least he had finally learned how to work the coffee and espresso machines at the café he worked. The customers seemed to really enjoy him as well, so that was a perk. He enjoyed the work too. He liked meeting new people–locals and tourists–and the compliments he received almost daily on his boyish charms, his accent, and his kindness always made him feel good inside. He knew it could be far worse. He still hadn’t fully adjusted to the information of other supernatural creatures existing; but more importantly, he hadn’t even worked up to courage to ask about the Mikaelson family. He had even gone so far as to use the moniker ‘Henry’ instead of his old-fashioned ‘Henrik’.
He had been working for several hours and busied himself for the past few minutes changing out some prices with quick swipes of the dry-erase marker that he currently held in his mouth when someone approached the counter. “Hey! How can I help you?” he asked as he looked up. He chuckled lightly and removed the pen from his jaws. “Sorry, how can I help you?” he asked; his accented words no longer muffled by the obstruction.
Although being brought back himself, the amount of people coming back from the dead was alarming to Kol. People of all kinds of species were starting to run around the city, wreaking havoc everywhere, making it harder for the ones already there to get a decent meal, and Kol did not enjoy blood bags.
He walked into the coffee shop, going to get some kind of caffeine for Davina since they had a long night. He did love her, and he loved helping her, but having to help every other person in New Orleans because of her power was something he did not like. He walked up to the counter, tapping on the surface as he looked at the menu. “Can you get me any in between sized cup of anything with caramel in it? It doesn’t really matter what it is I just need those two things in it.”

He groaned at the male’s sudden movement. “You’re messing with the wrong utter embarrassment of a human. And I’m sure that such a lovely person like yourself wouldn’t want to collect more enemies, no matter how arrogant you are. So I suggest you to let go of me, because I’m renting this suit and that would be a shame to ruin it.”
He almost laughed at what he said, “it would be a shame for you, yes. For me, I could care less.” He let go of him anyway, “I suggest you continue making drinks in silence, because the next snarky comment out of you could just make you the snack that some people here are desperately craving.” He warned.
