Q: Is x kind of content allowed?
A: Create any kind of content you like (please note that AI-generated content does not count as creating, in the scope of this event). The only rule is that it must be primarily focussed on the relationship between Gary and Goh. Just make sure to tag your work appropriately so people who may not want to see certain types of content can avoid it.
Q: If I canât post on a specific day, can I post it on a different day even if it doesnât fit that dayâs theme?
A: Of course! Posting late (i.e. after the event has ended) is also fine! Just please donât post anything for the event before it has begun!
Q: How will my work be shared?
A: The mod (thatâs me, kohakhearts) will reblog any and all appropriately tagged works to their blog, but there is not a dedicated blog for the event. However, any works posted to AO3 can be added to the collection I made for the event here. As a reminder, you can post more than just fanfiction on the Archive, so donât be shy about using the collection to share your work! Any and all works posted to the collection will be unrevealed until May 28th (00:00UCT). After that point, the collection will be open and unmoderated. It will not close, ever. So feel free to post any late entries!
Q: Do I need to complete every day to participate?
A: Absolutely not!! Posting for just one day is more than fine.
Q: Do works need to be completed upon posting to be conisdered part of the event?
A: Nope! Post the first chapter of that fic you've been thinking about, those first few panels of a comic, whatever you like! If you finish creating the rest during the remainder of the week, that's great, but also not required. Even if you aren't sure you'll ever finish it, don't let that from stopping you!
Q: Can I post multiple creations for a single day?
A: Go for it! Whether you post one thing during the entire week or 28 different things, it well be well-loved! Do what makes your heart happy!

22: what would their friends and family think of their relationship?
LOL. this really is the golden question isn't it. okay so going down the list here:
drew: hates hayate. number one hayate hater (sorry lemon). the in-law hayate has to work the hardest at earning the forgiveness of for sure. it would be so awkward, every time hayate comes around. he's desperately trying to woo drew. but to drew this is going to be the annoying kid who always followed his daughter around and was Annoying and also did something frankly unforgivable to his son. because like, kipper might forgive hayate for not stopping the battle when he (kipper) is having a whole mental breakdown on live tv, but drew was in the audience and he isn't forgetting anytime soon lmao. he prays for the day hayate and kipper break up but of course he's never going to tell kip that. he might tell hayate tho.
may: gets along well with hayate! is more sympathetic, still sees him as her dear friend's sickly child in many ways, but also sees how deeply kipper loves him and is 100% willing to try to understand why and see things from kip's perspective. she is the only person in the family who actively likes hayate for at least the first few years after the nigelslater going canon event lol
lime: similar to drew, but maybe not quite as intense. she's wary of hayate for sure. making kipper cry is her and felicity's job. boys who make her brother cry deserve her wrath instead. but she also does respect that for better or for worse this is the boy her brother loves so like, if he's going to try to be better then she won't interfere anymore, but she's watching him, dammit
felicity: overall fairly hayate-neutral, but in the same camp as lime with being like, wary of him. they have the power to ruin his reputation in an instant through The Internet so like. i'm sure that's something they've casually mentioned to him here and there
lemon: hates hayate for non-kipper reasons but eventually pivots to tacking on a "and i can't believe how he treated kipper, ugh, what an asshole!" to every hayate-hating sentiment. this drives lime crazy, like STOP using my brother as an excuse to hate on hayate. i know the real reason you hate him is just because he was obsessed with me when we were kids and you felt threatened. LMAO. she'll get over it tho. they will never be friends but she will grudgingly accept their hayden in-law alliance
dawn: probably the most wary of kipper in hayate's family, but overall, like, this is her good friend's son, and she is aware that her son did something pretty cruel to him, again, on live television, lol. i think initially dawn is very much like, no kipper's too emotionally volatile, etc. for hayate and this is going to cause problems etc. but she would come around really quickly. i just cannot imagine dawn not welcoming anyone her son loves into the family with open arms lol. also if anyone in this family is going to understand the pressures of having a famous coordinator parent that you need to "live up to," it'd be dawn. so.
zoey: i think of all of hayate's parents, zoey is the most similar to kipper in terms of attitude, so i do think they'd get along. they might enjoy bonding over the more technical aspects of coordinating - but i can also see how. pokemon contests might be a very awkward topic to bring up around kipper and hayate (mostly kipper, to be fair), lol. so it might take some time for them to get to a point of being able to talk about things like that...so before that point, they might just. not have much to talk about. and kipper is very awkward and probably finds zoey intimidating (and dawn too. and chloe. i think he could be intimidated by a particularly stony rock though so. this doesn't say much about any of them lol)
chloe: definitely the one of hayate's moms who is like, making the most active overtures towards kip. this is probably terrifying to him though, poor kid. i think chloe honestly just feels bad for kipper. like, he's got that whole "feeling small and useless because his parents are so famous and well-established in their field" thing that i think she also recognizes. whereas i don't think dawn would pity kipper for this, chloe might. which ironically might make it harder for them to bond and have a relationship. but since she knows hayate side of the story she would be very loving and accepting and would want kipper to feel welcomed in their family
gwen and morgan (hayate's travel companions): kipper hates them on principle but they don't really have opinions on him other than that he's that pathetic gay boy hayate loves so much đ a real "thumbs up, guys" situation
there are other people here who would have opinions, like you know. uncles and aunts and grandparents. but if i got into that i'd be here all day. especially since because of the chloe and lemon connection this family tree gets really ??? really fast. like chloe is hayate's step-mom -> professor cerise is hayate's step-grandfather -> goh is hayate's pseudo-adopted step-uncle -> lemon is hayate's cousin (and his sister-in-law's wife). but for what it's worth. despite somehow being his uncle like 5 times removed gary has probably never even met hayate and hates him deeply anyway. because he will hate anyone his daughter hates. and this is just the interconnectedness these characters have before we even introduce the ash factor. LMAO. the nigelslater wedding might be even more chaotic than the sprite wedding. at least when lemon and lime get married the only issue is that their dads are duking it out with each other in the parking lot.
i love the like...way that their whole dynamic is founded on this basis of improvement. like, gary kinda just singles goh out and decides he's gonna fix this guy, lmao. it's different from the ash-gary rivalry because there's literally zero precedent for it aside from, i guess, "ash thinks this guy is worth his time and i trust ash's opinion." also, the ash-gary dynamic is like, yeah gary's goading motivates ash, but i don't think that was necessarily gary's goal - if it were i think we would have gotten to see an ash and gary battle much earlier than we did lol. gary doesn't really see ash on anywhere near the same level as him until the viridian gym. he's just a little hater for the love of the game. with goh, his insults are very calculated and motivated. specifically because he sees something in goh that he recognizes about himself - and knows as a result that that's not doing goh any favours.
but the other side of that is, like, simultaneously gary has to prove that he's Better than goh, in order to justify being the kind of person goh should be striving towards. so while he's pushing goh towards self-improvement, he is also forced to improve himself and Prove that he has a leg to stand on here.
i also like that their issues seem really similar on the surface but are actually kind of diametrically opposed. i've said this before, but i think it kind of boils down to, like, gary's a lone wolf because he doesn't think anyone is on his level. goh acts like that's how he is too, but in reality he's scared of not being good enough. so gary's worried others won't be good enough for him, and goh's worried he won't be good enough for others. but again, because goh would rather eat his own arm than acknowledge that, it looks very similar on the surface!
oooh for the ship development ask meme, could I ask for 7,8, & 25 for Asbel and Hubert tbh (if you're not in the mood for it then any ship you vibing with a lot rn)

generally i say hubert because asbel is casually confessing his love to everyone all the time lol. hubert finds this deplorable. also this is deeply complicated by the fact that you know. a declaration of undying love to your brother doesn't necessarily mean anything, right?? asbel thinks they're dating and hubert's still like "he's just doing this because he's my brother and he loves me, feeling that his kisses have romantic intent is evidence of the sickness within me. for feeling this way about my brother." lmao.
8: what was their first date like?
god. messy. hubert wouldn't take asbel out romantically unless asbel was disguised as a woman i think. he's almost got more problems with the gay part than the related part. makes me think of the catfishing date nina and i wrote last year lol
25: try and think of either 3 silly or angsty headcanons for them as a couple?
ohh this one is. hard. they are not on my mind much these days lol. i guess borrowing from the last one, a silly headcanon is that if they ever go out on dates, it's with asbel dressed up as someone else lol. and hubert thinks their relationship is a secret but literally everyone knows. and asbel is a bad liar anyway so he's spilled the beans to everyone. another even stupider headcanon is that kerri is actually supportive of them dating because if hubert marries asbel, then he will be a lhant again and legally her son once more <3 marrying (back) into the family

4: in what areas would they help one another grow?
to be honest hayate's Character Development is the thesis of kipgate, but to be more specific, that development is like, he has to realize that not taking life serious actually hurts other people and so in order to not hurt people, he kinda. has to take this shit serious. maladaptive fantasies are just that, you know. maladaptive. i think even after like, causing kipper to have a literal mental breakdown and realizing that he treated him like shit and needs to make up for it, kipper would still be a very grounding force for hayate in this respect. he's the more emotionally sensitive one at the end of the day and this isn't necessarily healthy at the beginning, for obvious reasons, but eventually it's like, well, hayate's gotta figure out to like. navigate that. like not just ascribing whatever emotion he thinks kipper should be feeling. actually recognizing, oh he's happy, what led to that, does he want to share that feeling with me. or oh no he's upset, can i help, what does he need from me. and everything in between. and in the end like, learning how to de-centre himself in that process, too. sometimes kipper's feelings are his fault (often, to be fair), but at the end of the day they are still kipper's feelings and not hayate's, if that makes sense.
on the other side of this, hayate teaches kip to take life less serious, lol. kipper loves him because he's true to himself and he's free-spirited and he does everything with so much Love. he's so Earnest. this is not something kipper, the most self-hating anxiety-ridden person in the World, can possibly understand. but when hayate is not unintentionally playing mind games with him, hayate helps him forget about the rest of the world and just like...enjoy being in the moment. so i think like, initially they are both on opposite extremes of this spectrum, right, like we have hayate completely rejecting the idea of Consequences because he just wants to be carefree and have fun Now, while kipper is always trying to prove himself to everyone and all he ever thinks about are the Consequences. everything he does Now is for Later. both mindsets are unhealthy, so they kind of teach each other how to meet halfway i think!

Several wildfires are forcing members of a number of First Nations to flee their homes in northern Ontario.
