Somehow the only lore fact I know abt Crypto is that he has a cat and also a tattoo of his cat. Consulted the Apex Lore Experts and we found out that the cat is orange✨

I was wondering, what movies do you study for ref? And where/how did you learn to use colors like that? It's super cool and I'm in love with how vivid your colors are :o

So for movies, I don't really have one way to find the best sadly haha. I think you can understand from trailer or just know director's previous works that were visually inspiring. The majority of the movies I watch are not that interesting in a composition/coloring department but they're still good movies✌️

If you want my ultimate to-study movie I'd go with Dune trilogy (didn't watch the last one yet but pretty sure it's as good). Every shot is perfect, and by every I mean literally every second on the movie. And there are abt 10hrs of this. Especially good for value studies too, the light work is delicious.

Movie studies are way less useful when you just grabbed a pretty picture from Pinterest and didn't really watch the movie. Movies don't exist as still pictures, seeing the whole scene in motion and understanding characters and a plot gives the study way more depth. Also it's really fun to watch and specifically look for the best shots yourself!

For colors my rule number one is to never use a color picker, even if drawing a character from reference, better correct your colors later(Wasteman was so hard for me to find colors💀 I suck at dark saturated pallettes ig)

Movie studies in particular help me find colors that I rarely use but are good for specific vibe.

Also a small cheat code I never saw anyone using, but ✨posterization✨.

Sorry I'm not that smart to know what exactly posterizing does to your art, but it helps adding a few new hues you can use while rendering!

I've always struggled with her hair😭 it was supposed to remind of feathers, at least it's silhouette, but I didn't quite like how generic locks looked, so I changed them to koroba braids

but they didn't quite look like magpie feathers...so I gave up on feathers look..
