Only the most exhilarating, ass-kicking, phantasmagoric literary experience on the planet. I've participated every year since 2007, and I have to say, I greatly prefer it over NaNoWriMo. NaNo just gets to be a drag (for me) after a while. The 3DNC is over before that can happen. 3DNC is like a torrid love affair, while NaNo is like all the worst parts of marriage.

I've just started working on the outline for my 3-day novel. It's shaping up to be a political-rural-creature-horror thing. Fun stuff.

There’s no excuse not to. Remember NaNoWriMo? Maybe you tried it in high school or college (am I talking about weed or novel writing?), or maybe you gave it a try more recently. I participated in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Then I stopped because November is a terrible month to try to write a novel.

Well, now NaNoWriMo’s taking over the oppressive summer months with Camp NaNoWriMo. So while you’re trying to stay cool by hanging at Starbucks and mooching off their air conditioning and free Wi-Fi while you OD on Cookie Crumble White Chocolate Mocha Mint Frappucinos, take along your laptop and grind out a novel. Why not, right? What else are you going to do? Update your Facebook status? Nobody cares about your Facebook status. Delete your Facebook account and write a novel instead. Suddenly not having a Facebook profile will make you seem mysterious, and all of the ladies and dudes at Starbucks will think you’re way deep because you’re writing a novel. Camp NaNoWriMo takes place in June and August. If you need one more day to inject more brilliance into your novel, go with August. If you have to start your novel OMG-right-now (because it starts today), then you’d better get crackin’ because June is right now.
