JOE BIRD and STACY CLAUSEN as NAIM and RYAN LEVITICUS (2026) written and directed by Adrian Chiarella
[Image Description: A gifset of a scene from Leviticus 2026. Ryan says to Naim: "Okay, so you leave town. Then what? It's just gonna look like the next dickhead you're into. And the next one after that. If I'm gonna live with this thing, then..." He pauses before continuing: "I don't want it to look like some other dickhead. I want it to look like you." End Image Description]

Obligatory
my foot hanging off the bed i don't even care anymore just let the monster take me ...
thinking about when i was small, how my mom told me that pipe cleaners were just a tool until people started idly shaping things with them and it grew so popular that they were marketed as crafting materials. and that story about how the original frisbees were disposable pie plates that students flattened to throw. and how when i was a child i had a wooden mancala set with shiny, colorful stones, but on invention it was played with rocks and grooves dug into the dirt. and middle school, paper football and tic-tac-toe and mash and mad libs, games that just need pen and paper. and before that, games of pretend with pirates and princes and masked marauders. how at slumber parties after lights out, we used to whisper storytelling games, i say one sentence and you say the next. and shadow puppets. and the way all the kids in the neighborhood used to divide into teams and throw fallen pine cones at one another. and the floor is lava game, and the quiet game, and the games i play with my coworkers that are just words and retention. and "put a finger down" on the high school bus. and little girls clapping together, and how the first jump-rope was undoubtedly just a length of rope who knows how long ago, and how natural it is to play, how we seek play at every age and with any resources we have and with whatever time we can squeeze it into in a day. i'm not an anthropologist or a psychologist but i think after food and shelter and water and air what comes next is games and stories and laughter. i think that there is nothing -- not sex or fighting or forming unlikely bonds with animals -- there is nothing more human than to play.
leviticus sequel where it's they have to search for jobs to work together so they'll never be alone and end up doordashing. leviticar.
I hope someone writes an outsider POV, because I keep thinking about all the friends and acquaintances they make after they run away and how they see Ryan and Naim attached to the hip 24/7 and think “those two sure are disgustingly in love”. But then Naim has a whole panic attack when he can’t find Ryan one day and they can’t so much as go to the bathroom without each other, so hey maybe it’s a bit of a toxic relationship and their friends think they need to stage an intervention. The little things start pilling up, how they sometimes show up with fresh bruises and cuts and wave off the concern with half-baked explanations, how Ryan randomly asks other people if they can see Naim when he’s been standing there the whole time, how Naim refuses to go outside at all when he can’t find his lighter, etc etc. I don’t know, the idea has a lot of potential. Even the average person is weirded out by them lmao.
Maybe one of those times they actually witness the entity attacking Ryan or something and they try to help them get rid of or manage the curse better. It’d be nice to write about them finally finding some support in their community 🤧

ok ive put some thought into it and i wouldnt change a thing about leviticus’ ending. the entity never really being defeated shows that homophobia will never truly die, but if you make the choice to no longer live in fear then that fear loses all power over you. i know some people wish they gave us a clear ending but personally i like that its up to interpretation, all we know is that they have a happy ending together
According to Andy Weir's Eridian biology document, Eridians are better multitaskers than humans will ever be, but the trade off is they're physically incapable of locking in. SO funny to me. Yes this species can build a diorama while simultaneously blitzing through mathematics equations and also partaking in intense gossiping, but they cannot do any of those things for longer than, like, half an hour without going crazy. Species of supercomputers cursed with the TikTok attention span.
Rocky mocks Grace when he says that Rocky is distracting him by starting complex conversations while he's Trying To Do Science. "Human brain have to stop activity just because talking question? Useless! One track mind!"
Then Grace is on hour six of his "trying to recreate skittles" hyperfocus and Rocky is like What The Fuck. Statement.
Yeah human brains can only do a single very consuming task at a time but it can do it for a very long time. The one track in our one track minds spans multiple countries. Persistence predators, babey.
Y'all ever think of what the person responsible for Rocky's voice bank must've felt when those videos finally got to earth? Imagine doing a voice acting gig for a bank voice on a computer or whatever that you eventually completely forget about, only for it to one day come back to you when the FIRST intellectual alien lifeform that a human being has ever met decides to use it as their chosen voice. The mild horror. The exhilaration. The emotional punch. This is it. This is your magnum opus. You have given a human voice to a sentient rock and it will NEVER get better than this. Also, they picked you over MERYL STREEP?!?!
naim dosen't talk about it, but in the days since they left town ryan watches as bruises start to appear around his mouth...
the idea of both of them being unable to tell the other specifics of what the entity did to them bc of how horrific and violating of an experience it was, until months or years later when the other does something that unintentionally triggers that memory and it comes spilling out. like they're making out against a wall and ryan has his hand on naim's jaw, he pulls away for a moment, thumb slipping past naim's lips, and naim is seized by suffocating panic. He shoves ryan away trembling, and in the aftermath is forced to open up abt what exactly the entity did to him that night
I don't think Leviticus needs a sequel (unless it follows a completely different couple going through the same thing in a different setting) but they should instead reshoot the entire movie from Ryan's POV please Adrian Chiarella I have like 20 bucks in my bank account you can have it all
