Hiya everyone!! This is @lovebugships with a new blog here dedicated to shining some light on Black characters that most self shippers might not know about so that they can get some love 🫶

Consider this a hub for f/o recommendations, be it romantic, platonic, queerplatonic, or familial! Feel free to submit your favorite Black characters or your Black f/os that you don't mind sharing, even black OCs that you would love to see someone ship with!! Be sure to spread the word by reblogging so your mutuals and followers can see them! 💖

RULES: you will not find HP/Hellaverse/AoT characters here, any submissions featuring such will be deleted; no minors unless specifically stated that the intention is for familial or platonic shipping; no canonical rapists/genocidal murderers/abusers; no proship/comship/darkship of any kind, and no harrassment please!

I would also like to note that while op is not Black, I love my Black f/os dearly and I often see Black characters that I think would be fantastic f/os for other self shippers! I consult with my partner @cherry-bomb-ships who is half Black, but I would be more than happy to listen if Black self shippers wanted to dm me either here or on my self ship blog with their two cents on proper portrayal and characterization and culture in general!

Fredwynn from Dispatches from Elsewhere ! He's also heavily autistic coded (albeit I think every main character in this show is neurodivergent). He's delightful but no one's ever seemed to watch this show !

first, sam obisanya, one of the team members! he is the epitome of a ray of sunshine, always smiling, bringing in a positive attitude, and helping everyone get along. but he's no pushover - in season 3 he actually starts a protest against the team's sponsor bc the sponsor is affiliated with an oil company causing environmental destruction in nigeria (his home country). he's a huge sweetheart and so committed to the things and people he loves & believes in, and he would be an amazing f/o!!

second is isaac mcadoo, another player on the team! he's slightly less central to the show than sam but still gets good screentime, and is consistently the best-dressed character when he is on screen (plus super handsome). also very good at giving haircuts (as seen below). he starts off a bit rough around the edges but matures and grows wonderfully into a leadership role as the show goes on!

and then last, dr. sharon fieldstone! she is a sports psychologist & mental health professional for the team, trilingual (english/spanish/french), and ridiculously cool all the time. she's smart and confident, but tends to keep people at a bit of a distance - maybe there's a selfshipper out there who can climb over those emotional walls?

honestly i love this show (which is getting a new season in august!) & all 3 of these characters and i would be so cheesed to see them as somebody's f/o(s)!! 🙏

OHHH YES I've heard of Ted Lasso!! Fun fact, a few years ago a local ice cream place where I live actually did a collaboration with the show and had a themed ice cream flavor that had like. Biscoff cookies in it I believe 🤔

I present to you Troy Barnes from the television show Community! He used to be a star football player at his highschool before an injury and now goes to a community college as he figures out what to do with his life next. He's not the brightest bulb in the box, but he's energetic, passionate, caring towards his friends, and very upbeat. He has a tight knit group of friends and is a skilled repairman.

Literally look at him!!! He's an absolute golden retriever type and people who love kinda dumb men with big hearts and ADHD-coding then like... look no further, he's perfect.

did anyone suggest nyota uhara from the original 1966 star trek series? bc (history alert /lh) she's a influential Black character that inspired women + WOC to join NASA and space related fields in general. and two because she is so lovely and pretty and augh

Afro-Latina/o means having Black heritage and being born in a Latin country OR being mixed Black and some kind of Latin!! So, yes, G3 Clawdeen absolutely counts and is very adorable!!

OH MY GODDDD SHE IS SO PRETTY!! 🥺💖💖💖 I absolutely ADORE the teal elements of her color palette, they pop so well against the orange/reds and the shade of her skin!!
