(A repost from Deviantart that I touched up a bit I.e removing the y/n and f/c stuff that stilted the story a bit), but I wanted to post it here cause all I see of Enoch in here is Enoch O’Conner and not the one from Mortis Ghost’s OFF. Anyways enough rambling— enjoy!)
Enoch (OFF) x Reader
It was a long, long day. You'd worked harder than you should've and now your tired muscles were screaming at you.
You worked for Dedan, Guardian of Zone 1. He was nicer to you than his Elsen, but he was still an ass. Today, he had you cutting open cows and extracting the rocks from them. It was right after lunch, which you lost in the process of working. He was an okay boss, but he worked you 'till your hands were bone. "Dedan, I'm going home... I'd like to get this shit off of me before it dries." you grumbled. "Yeah, fine, whatever." he was obviously focusing and didn't want to be disturbed.
You walked the Elsen filled streets, stopping and saying ‘Hi’ to Zacharie and the Batter on the way. It was dark by the time you got home. Because Zone 1 was filled with Elsen, you had no worries about murderers and rapists. The Elsen were extremely shy and timid, even around you. You unlocked the door to your apartment and walked in, to be greeted by a soft and gentle "Mrow!"
"Pablo... How do you keep getting in..?" you yawned softly. Lately, he and Valerie have been getting into your house. You really don't care, as you've learned to enjoy their company.
You opened a can of tuna for the cat, who dug in immediately. You walked to your room and grabbed your usual nightwear- a pair of shorts and a simple shirt. Walking to the bathroom, you studied the blood on you- it was crimson and sticky. It reminded you a lot of strawberries for an odd reason. You pulled back the curtains to your shower to find it covered in cat hair. "Lovely..." you groaned.
Having spent the past ten minutes cleaning up cat hair, you were definitely ready for a shower. You peeled off your bloody clothes and set them on a towel on the floor. You reached for the hot water handle on the shower and turned it... only to have it spit out freezing cold water. Damn, today was NOT your day!
You tried and tried, but you simply could not get the hot water on! 'Fuck it,' you thought as you pulled your nightwear on. You flopped into your bed and turned the light on. You screamed at the site of a big spider hanging from your face. You swatted it away, getting up and running out to the couch. Pablo was already gone. You sighed, flopping on the couch. You closed your eyes and drifted away.
Thunder rolled across the sky and lightning crashed, jolting you away from the nightmare you were having. You sat up, panting, shaking slightly. You looked around the darkened house and shook the sleep- and slight fear- out of you and got up. Deciding you were thirsty, you grabbed a glass from the dish drainer and poured yourself some water. Of course it tasted terrible and had bits of plastic and meat in it.
You spat it out and coughed. The water was never really good, it was pooled between a meat river and a plastic lake. You settled for a can of Pepsi. You opened the can and took a drink. Just as your eyes were starting to adjust, the power went out. "FUCK!" You yowled into the darkness. You searched for a flashlight, only to find it had no batteries. You groaned. "Will this day end..?" you whined to yourself.
Rain began to pelt down on the windows, followed by small bits of hail. Lovely. "Guess not..." you sighed. Flopping on your bed, you turned on your kindle for light. Since the power was out, the internet was out, meaning you couldn't read any new books, so you settled for one of the ones that was downloaded. You turned the first page and the screen went black. You felt like crying.
You did end up crying eventually, out of frustration, anger, and a bit out of fear. You thought for a moment. You certainly couldn't sleep here, not with the thunder, lightning and hail. You wondered if Dedan would let you crash at his house for a bit. "Nah, he'll be pissed if I wake him up at this hour.." you thought, noting the time on your phone; 3:56 am. Maybe Japhet? Or Enoch? Or maybe even the Queen and her husband? Shaking your head, you ruled out the last option.
Japhet and Enoch were fairly nice, even fond, of you, surely one of them would let you stay with them. You jumped up and grabbed a bag that was hanging from a hook on the wall. You packed some clothes, your laptop and charger, your Kindle and charger, your ipod, phone charger and your favorite stuffed animal.
Hugging it to your chest, it offered a little bit of comfort as you slipped it into the bag. You changed into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and pulled your hoodie over your head. Slipping into your shoes, you grabbed your bag and keys. You set out two cans of tuna, one labeled "Valerie" and the other "Pablo." 'Just in case they show up.' you thought as you headed into the rain and hail.
The walk was a long one to Zone 2. The train was out, making you have to walk. You were soaked when you reached the giant library. The Elsen at the desk squeaked when he saw you. "Hhh...! C-Can I h-help you..?" he asked in a frightened tone. "Yeah— Is Japhet here?" You asked. The Elsen shook his head. "Hhh.. no.." He said. "Dammit.." You muttered. "Alright. When he comes back, tell him I stopped by." You said smiling, patting the Elsen and ruffling his hair. When you left, the Elsen was left with a crimson face and cutely messed up hair.
You stepped off the train. Thank the Queen for sugar-powered trains! It saved your feet from the pain! You walked past the hurrying Zone 3 Elsen. They always seemed less timid. Probably from working with sugar so much. You walked into a large building, looking down each hall. "Which way was it..?" You asked yourself. You stopped an Elsen. "Which way do I go to get to Enoch's office?" You asked.
The Elsen pointed down the middle hall and hurried off. "Alright…” you muttered to yourself. The hall was fairly dark, thought it was light enough to see a few Elsen here and there. You winded around the path that was floating on the plastic, careful not to fall; that would be an ugly mess. You stopped at the large door, remembering how big Enoch is compared to you.
You felt a tinge of fear tug at your heart. 'No.. Enoch is a friend.' you told yourself repeatedly, cautiously opening the doors. You heard his deep, hearty chuckle. "Come in, my friend." His voice was deep and booming, it caused you to squeak and jump back a little. You felt the urge to run, but you refused to give in. You forced yourself into the room, closing the door behind you. Enoch sat at his desk, working on something.
He gazed up at you and a grin spread across his face. "Ahh, my sweetheart! It's lovely to see you." He said, standing from his desk and walking towards you. He seemed... smaller. Or maybe you were bigger? It was hard to tell, your eyes were stinging from the smell of burning bodies and sugar. "Something seems to be bothering you." He said softly, his voice no longer booming, but instead soft and comforting. It was true, you were holding back tears. He placed his hand in front of you, which you happily climbed onto. He walked back to his desk and sat down, but before he could let you off, you crawled up his arm and onto his shoulder.
You sat, leaning against his cheek. "My dear, what ever is the matter?" He asked, his voice full of concern. Tears began to slip from your eyes and roll down your cheeks. He must've noticed this, because he picked you up from his shoulder and held you up so you were eye-level. "Sweetheart... Please don't cry. Tell me what's happened." He said, gently petting you with his finger. You drew out a shaky breath, sniffling.
"It seems like you've had an awful day.." Enoch said. You had spilled, telling him the events of the past day. You nodded, wiping a few stray tears from the corner of your eye. "It was awful... I didn't even get to wash the blood off of me! The rain washed most of it off, thankfully, but it was still gross.." You whimpered. He patted you with his finger.
You crawled off of his hand and into his enormous belly. When you were younger, you always found joy in using Enoch as a trampoline; but now, you found only comfort in snuggling him. He was warm and welcoming, unlike Dedan, who was cold and hateful. Enoch laid back in his chair, a gentle smile on his face. He got an idea, and, scooping you in his hand, he stood up and turned off the desk lamp, rendering the room dark.
You clung to his thumb, simply for the feeling of snuggling some part of him. You were blinded for a moment as another light was turned on. Enoch stood in a huge room; it made you feel like an ant. He put you on a bedside table before crawling into the enormous bed. You got the idea and made your way back onto his belly. He chuckled deeply, causing his belly to rise and fall rapidly and effectively making you cling to his shirt. He patted you gently, smiling.
You let out a soft yawn and crawled up to his chest. The beating of his heart was extremely comforting to you, as it has been for the time you've know him. "You look tired, my dear. Let your eyes rest and your mind wander." He hummed. You curled up, your stuffed animal in your hand. He pulled the large blanket over both of you. "Goodnight, my sweet— Sleep well."
He purred, turning off the light. The room became dark, but you weren't afraid. Enoch was there, he always kept you safe when you were younger. As your eyes began to feel heavy, you heard him sigh your name softly. The beating of his heart and his breathing slowly lulled you into a deep, restful sleep.
