Two of our favorite veterans here at the Jack Kirby Museum, Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. Partners in the 1940s and 1950s, these two pals brought us Captain America, kid gang comics, and romance comics. We're very proud to be showcasing work from one of the greatest teams in comics, Joe Simon & Jack Kirby in our NYC pop-up, Comics Combatives.
Next week, the Jack Kirby Museum will open Comics Combatives: Stories Told By Jack Kirby Pfc., a three week long Pop-Up museum at 103 Allen St in NYC. We’ll display art and pages from stories containing combat and action in the signature Kirby style! This will include classic pages from Captain America, Thor, Foxhole, Kamandi, The New Gods, and much more! It looks like Jack Kirby possibly didn’t see the point in a superteam that keeps its secret identities from each other, while Stan Lee apparently wanted to hold onto it.
This becomes slightly comical when Iron Man has to explain to the team that they’re meeting in Stark’s building because he’s totally just a good friend who’s allowing them to use his stuff, and no one questions that Stark is never around for their meetings and is never in the same room as Iron Man.
