I can see how people fall into depression. I have lost count of the number of people I have lost in the last three years. I've become numb to the words. Today I lost my uncle. At 97, he had more laughter than I've ever had in my life. He had joy in his eyes, even when suffering from pain. He had a smile that will never be forgotten. I'll never forget your gross kisses and the muffled words that were a cross between Norwegian and English. Today I also almost lost my step niece. I am not close with her. I won't pretend that she even knows my name. But I have watched her grow through photos and held her in my arms as a baby. I will push through. I won't let it consume me. But God knows I can see how it would.
