Entrepreneur & CEO in the making

On 1/15/14 ironically and not intentional on MLK day I put in my 2 weeks notice to leave my secure job of 2 years and 5 months in healthcare.

What??? Is what many people asked. I’m not surprised because it is really hard to find a JOB these days.

However, this was no surprise to me. In fact this was planned earlier last year. But, I was emotional when 1/29/14 arrived so quickly. I am turning my fears into inspiration. My mother sacrificed her dreams for my sister and I. The only way I could possibly pay her back is to take risks and become fearless.

This is my open promise to myself before it comes to light. I will be a successful (on my own terms) business owner. I will start out with a luxury brand and then dapple into to other business ventures. I will become a brand that will inspire others and create some cool stuff to contribute to the universe.

Uncle Sam whom I never met. However, you are the brother of my mother. I have never met you but you know my finances very well. I do not make a lot of money but that doesn't stop you from dappling in my pocket.

Make no mistake, I am all for building better schools and communities. If that is where my countless hours of hard work is going I am all for it. However, as I make my daily commute to make the money that you garnish still change is unfamiliar. The subway still forces me to leave a half an hour early, educators are being let go, the roads are still full of potholes, somewhere a family has no access to quality food, an elderly person does not have access to quality health care, depression over student loan interests increases, and the dream of being finically independent is beyond the sky.

Really you're my uncle? I never see you at family gatherings, I never get congratulation cards from you, I never see you at the hospitals visits for ill family members. I do see you present yourself on my bi-weekly pay-stubs. You win the uncle of the century award for sure. It must be nice to just collect funds without having to introduce yourself.
