honestly? magic can be an allegory to anything in that timeline โ suppression of different kinds of people (race, neurodivergence, gender, appearances, disabilities, queerness, poverty, etc). i don't think it's an allegory for just queerness, but for the difference in society standards and the difference in the people and how people conform to fit what's deemed 'acceptable' !
