A rare piece of Texas prairie has been saved from future development

The preserve is one step closer to its 30,000-acre goal. 

A protected piece of the Katy Prairie is now off-limits to future development as conservationists continue expanding one of the Houston area's most important natural landscapes. The Coastal Prairie Conservancy announced this week that it has permanently protected another 60 acres in northwest Harris County, moving the nonprofit closer to its long-term goal of conserving 30,000 acres on the historic Katy Prairie. The preserve encompasses about 20,000 acres across western Harris and Waller counties just west of Houston. Located in the Upper Cypress Creek watershed, the newly-protected tract includes native prairie, seasonal wetlands and working agricultural land. According to the conservancy, preserving the property will help support wildlife habitat, provide natural flood storage and maintain the area’s natural landscape as development continues to spread across northwest Harris County...

like I love asgore very much as a character because he has very interesting flaws, and it is because of these flaws that make me want to throttle him for saying this.

first, where credit is due, congratulations to asgore for finally figuring out he should not have been treating toriel like that.

but secondly, on god asgore if flowery's actions towards you made you realise this you would NOT survive the bullshit you've been putting toriel up with

for the 4 chapters leading up to this we've been subjected to asgore's cringe fail flop attempts to woo toriel back and he is consistently met with visible discomfort and displeasure

(not to mention the fact that he violates the number 1 rule of handling your children in a divorce which is to NOT make them the middle man)

meanwhile asgore assumes that flowery knows that he's playing along, he assumes flowery knows its not reciprocated, and then he calls it unasked for affection

my brother in angel you were "playing along" and did not tell him straight up, he is not going to catch the hint, he is a flower, today is his first day of consciousness and social interaction

flowery's reaction while a little funny because he's asking about the mixtape is also genuine because he now has to reevaluate what asgore actually feels because he genuinely wants to make asgore happy, his whole entire dream hinges on it

and then asgore says he's learned that the pushy actions he's been giving his ex wife was wrong because he felt a fraction of how it felt to be on the receiving end

However, I do wonder if it wasn't just a reflection of current events, but maybe also past ones? Maybe Asgore kept trying to do things for Toriel, and was fumbling tremendously, but she didn't say anything. Maybe she saw he was genuinely trying and just played along a bit, never voicing her discontent. Maybe the point of this line is that what Flowery is doing ISN'T as intense as what Asgore's currently doing, but the subtext is showing what might've happened during Asgore and Toriel's marriage.

He's willing to do anything to please, but doesn't slow down long enough to listen. He's harder on himself for it. He'll isolate from others if he thinks he's failed, and will dedicate himself to his mission in his solitude.
