Yata, I think, is pretty affectionate, but not entirely in a physical way. I don’t think it’s his thing to cling to you like constantly needing to hold hands or cuddle. Though, that’s not to say he dislikes it, he might complain a little, but he’ll comply (to an extent) if you want to lay and cuddle or hold onto him, but he keeps it to a bare minimum in public. He’ll suffer (lightheartedly) through your lovey-doveyness at home if you so want. He would prefer small things, like linking pinkies, sitting shoulder to shoulder, or quick rub on your or his back. Yata prefers to show his affection by acts of service. His way of showing affection is cooking for you, or playing your favorite games with you (even if he may not like it. Make him play hello kitty racer). He’ll remember the item you pointed out in the store and buy it for you, he’ll win you prizes at the arcade, he’ll run to you the moment you tell him you want to see him. Yata is absolutely affectionate in the way he always thinks of you and cares for you everyday.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?) 

- He’s not the biggest cuddler. I don’t think it would be his thing in the beginning of the relationship, but once he adjusts, then he wouldn’t mind having a snuggle here and there. It’ll be mainly if you like to. If not, Yata can go without it. If you do, then he complies. I can see it mainly being when you’re both just lounging or going to bed. When you’re both off from work and just hanging out, sitting on the couch together, I can see Yata letting you snuggle up to his side while he plays on his console or watch TV. The first time it happens, he practically burns the couch before rolling off it. Don’t get me started on cuddling in the bed; Yata wouldn’t even face you the moment you both started sleeping in the same bed. I don’t think he’s a huge hugger in bed, I think he’s a messy sprawler when it comes to “cuddling” as in it’s whoever grabs who first in their sleep. Or, you sleep on his chest…maybe even just laying close to each other. I think Yata would prefer those, even if you’re taller than him. He would like to feel like the “protector” when you sleep.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they around the house?) 

- I feel deep in my heart Yata would be the type to settle down, it’s just something that happens waaay into the future once everything in his life is settled down too. I really think he would like to share his life with a married partner, maybe kids, but it’s only gonna happen years into his life, probably late 20s, and it’s probably gonna happen only once. Yata doesn’t fall in love easily, doesn’t date around, so once he’s decided he loves you, then he’s unable to see his life without you. Yata is decent at housework and such. I’m sure he helped his mother around the house before, and whatever he didn’t learn then Kusanagi surely picked it up from there for him (cleaning the bar as experience for cleaning a house). I think he would prefer cooking than cleaning though. He would do any tougher housework like mowing or fixing anything if you wanted. He’s the one cooking the most, and you usually do the dishes for him, but somehow I can see cleaning up after dinner being a cute, domestic enjoyment for the both of you. I think you can rely on him to keep the house clean when you’re gone. I feel like he’s out most of the time anyways too, so it never really gets dirty, a bit messy if anything. He’s no clean freak, but you be assured things will get cleaned up.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?) 

I can’t even see Yata having a breakup unless it’s something drastic. Like you have to commit Colorless King type crimes because Yata is loyal to the end, even if you do something to “betray” him he’ll still try to find something to work out, still try to find out why. It’s not simple to start a relationship with him, and so that means it’s not so simple to get out. If you were the one to want to break up, he would want to know why and what in hopes of keeping the person he loves so much. But, Yata breaking up with you is a whole different story. I can’t imagine it’s easy for him, he hates losing people around him. He’d probably have to go silent for a bit, keep to himself to think. He gets help from Anna (moreso for some inner advice) and Kusanagi. It would be done face-to-face as Yata isn’t so upset that he breaks up over text, and it’s done in private too. There’s going to be crying, maybe yelling, involved. Yata’s mature side will really shine in this moment, and he will try to tell you not so harshly. Yata would be willing to remain friends, but it would take a bit to heal and adjust.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?) 

- Once again, Yata is loyal to the end. Although I can see Yata as someone who would get married, I can see him being okay with not ever getting married, but not for any commitment issues, but because he doesn’t need a ring and piece of paper to prove the depth of his love for you. If you don’t care for marriage, then he’s pretty ok with no marriage. Anyways, Yata is someone who definitely commits to his lover. His romantic relationships don’t happen quickly, they build slowly, so once he admits to being in love, then I feel he’s basically already at such a high level of commitment, but marriage is just personally for him something that would happen later. It’s not just a commitment from him to you, but from you to him, and it’s not something he thinks you should do willy-nilly. He wants to make sure he can provide the best for you, and that both of you are in a time of your lives where you can live comfortably. It might take a while honestly unless you have a way to be the main provider sooner than him (probably on you unless you’ve also didn’t go to high school). Like, Yata is stupid and doesn’t think about his actions sometimes, but I’m sure he’s not so immature to not think about this, esp since I can see this being a topic he thinks about only after the slate destruction. 

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?) 

I think Yata can be gentle, moreso later on down the line when he matures more. Yata is naturally pretty rough, so I think he would need a partner with some thick skin. I mean, if he says anything that genuinely makes you upset, he’s kind enough to apologize and watch what he says next time. I think you just need to let him know the things that are off limits about you, otherwise Yata might just say whatever with no thought. Yata has a hard time being gentle either way, but I think having to be physically gentle makes him more nervous. He’s pretty emotionally intelligent I say (as in he knows how to comfort people and willing to learn to listen to others), so being gentle emotionally can come a little easier than having to watch for his strength which is already inhuman. It’s possible though since he’s dealt with having younger siblings. Overall, you can trust him not to hurt you, not purposefully anyways.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? What are their hugs like?)

- Not a big physical affection person, hugs can make him feel embarrassed. He’s only ever felt comfortable hugging his family, or the time Saruhiko almost died in front of him. So, hugs are kinda rare unless you like ‘em. He doesn’t want you to hold onto him in front of others, but he’s ok with hugging you goodbye before you leave, and he’s totally ok with hugging for emotional comfort. His hugs depend on the moment. If he’s hugging you goodbye before work, it’s light; one arm around your shoulder and the other rubbing your arm. If he’s feeling bold, a peck on the head. It’s quick, but heartwarming nonetheless. If he’s hugging to comfort you, then his arms have become a shield for you. It’s a calming heat, his arms will be tightly wrapped around you, having your head tucked into his neck. I think he’s pretty good at hugs either way really, he’s just a person who hugs based on the moment.

 I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?) 

- A good while, I think. A year seems like a normal amount for him. Like I’ve always said, Yata has to know you since forever; you’ll experience being his best friend before becoming something else. It won’t ever be because he’s getting cold feet or not truly in love with you, he’s not like some overly romantic dude, so it’s also not because it needs to be entirely “perfect.” Yata just wants to feel confident enough in himself to say it. He wants to also have shown you he loves you, that it’s not just something he says out his ass. It’s also just an embarrassing thing to say (and he’s easily embarrassed), but a year into the relationship I feel is enough time for him to gather his strength to speak his heart, though he gets mad (lightheartedly) if you beat him to it. There will probably be some tears during this moment also, and he’s not afraid to cry.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

- Yata can be jealous. He’s just hot-headed like that, but he’s not the obsessive, overly-suspicious jealous type. He’ll never ask to go through your phone, or make any accusations of cheating, and he’s never mad at you. If it’s post-rok, he won’t get easily riled up, but pre-rok I can see him letting himself get hot and throw a good few nasty sentences around to the person. Unless it’s not intentional. Then he kinda tries to grab your attention, showing off and trying to seem extra “cool.” He doesn’t like someone threatening to get in the middle of his relationship, especially if they’re trying to make Yata look like a loser. If this is before ROK, before his talk with Fushimi, I can see this causing him to feel like he needs to make sure he doesn’t lose you too, but if not, then Yata doesn’t think like this. When Yata gets jealous, he’ll get a little grumpy, maybe trying not to show that he is, but in the end he’ll just talk to you if someone is purposefully trying to rile him up or trying to move in on you. He always trusts you.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?) 

- Well, hope you don’t expect anything heart-throbbing because that’s not his style or skill. Majority of Yata’s kisses are pretty light, but his first kiss is stiff and, if you’re wanting a magic moment, unfulfilling, but once he gets the hang of it, his kisses become passionate, he might even surprise you sometimes with how heavy he gets into it. I feel like once he’s able to properly kiss he does show off how weak in the knees he can make you, but gonna be honest, majority of the time they’re average kisses. I don’t see him ever making it to the point of Kusanagi level of kissing, and I don’t think he’ll care to do so. Heavier sessions come and go. You get his tongue in your mouth once a year, depending on the situation/moment. I’m a huge advocate for Yata being a fan of domestic kisses like on the forehead or cheek. I feel like those places are easier on his heart at first, and they just end up being his favorite places. Not to say he’d never kiss your lips, he still loves your lips (I imagine him drunkenly admitting that). Then he doesn’t have to worry about doing it wrong or bumping your teeth or anything. Flipside, Yata does enjoy being kissed on his lips. Normal place. Nothing special, he just does. A fact he might not ever admit is that he totally likes when you kiss his ears. Nothing hinting towards sexual advances, just that he likes the soft sensation of your lips. It’s a sort of addictive ticklish. A super good place to kiss him though is his Homra mark. I think Yata would enjoy kissing and/or being kissed there. This would be during really soft moments, like waking up in the morning. It would make Yata’s heart want to burst.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?) 

- Professional big brother here. He’s really good around kids. Father material might be an exaggeration, but I’d say you’d be able to trust him to care for a kid, like babysitting. Kids aren’t a thing he thinks about at all until really later down the road, probably in his 30s. There’s no way he’s able to provide for a kid at his current state. He’s happily teaching the neighborhood kids skating and cool tricks, giving them a decent lesson for causing mischief, or cheering them up when they’ve lost their toys. Honestly, I can see Yata having a kid, maybe two…but also with no kids. He could just end up as the cool ass uncle from his siblings' kids or if any of the other gang has their own in the future. 

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?) 

Well, I think Yata is good at not being late for the majority. He can get himself up, set a few alarms, snooze through some, then finally get up to groggily wash up. I don’t think he’s particularly hard to get up unless he’s off from work, like a total free day, then he’d rather sleep in. Mornings are when it’s easy to catch a cuddly Yata too, so take advantage of that. If he gets up before you, then you’ll usually have a nice breakfast waiting for you. He’ll wake you up to make sure you eat it too. Even if he has to leave early, I feel like he’ll still leave something for you to warm up. 

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?) 

- Yata is definitely someone you can stay up with all night with. He’s often up late whether it's out with Homra or just hanging around. He’d enjoy it if you were a bit of a night owl too. He doesn’t have to go out anywhere if you don’t wanna, places are gonna close anyways (like the arcade), he’s fine watching a bunch of movies and playing video games. He could also drink a little with you so that way you both can crash safely the moment you want. If it’s winter, you’ll both end up under the warm Kokatsu talking about whatever, snacking on something, and might end up falling asleep. If you fall asleep before Yata, he’ll carry you to the bed, leaving any mess to worry about in the morning. 

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?) 

- I think it would be easy to find things out about Yata without even asking him. He’s pretty easy to read, an open book, also kind of a bad liar if you push. There would be certain things you wouldn’t find out unless he told you, like his complicated relationships with Saruhiko or Mikoto (if you didn’t know them it would definitely be something he tells you later on), but more average things like his favorite foods or his childhood memories come a little quicker, a question with a truthful answer. Yata isn’t particularly hiding anything from you, there are things he just doesn’t normally talk about or he doesn’t really think about. He wouldn’t mind answering anything you ask. He would think it's weird if you asked all at once though. He also twists things a little, mainly to erase anything that might make him look silly. He hopes those things never come up in front of the gang because they’d love to take the chance to embarrass him. 

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?) 

It’s Yata. Anger is his middle name. It doesn’t take that much to rile him up. You don’t even have to purposefully anger him. Sometimes it’s not even because of you. Though, his anger can be as short-fused as him, coming and going. He’s not trying to stay angry if you’re apologetic or trying to calm him, and he’s certainly not trying to scare you, but if you’re most likely not scared by his outbursts anyways. I can’t see him being able to be with someone who can’t handle his attitude whether you’re just as fiery-tempered or are just not bothered by it. The only thing you should worry about with him is him acting reckless. To be clear, Yata isn’t going to be angry if you accidentally break something, or have to cancel a date due to an emergency, ok? He’s not a total asshole (we support morally gray Homra).

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?) 

- I think thanks to such a picky person like Saruhiko, I’d say he’s good at remembering a bunch of details about you. He may choose to “forget” them though, like putting something you dislike in your meals (you shall not skip your vegetables). Maybe if you mention something a little too quickly, he might not catch it, but nothing against him for it. If it gets brought to his attention again he’ll try to remember it next time. I really think he would genuinely try to remember things about his partner, especially if you’re putting in the effort to do so too. On a date night, you’ll be surprised to find your favorite movie sitting on the table and a dish you mentioned wanting to try from a commercial. 

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?) 

- I think he really enjoys the little moments. They don’t have to be special for them to feel special. He can’t really pick one. He likes any enjoyable moment with you. You could have the same night, same movie, same food, same topics, and Yata would choose it to be the best memory. I think if Yata had to pick, he’d go with a safe reply with one of those, but it’s only to avoid too much embarrassment because it would be when you both finally confessed. He sees it as adding a special person to his world where he cherishes all his friends and family. His relationships are very important to him. 

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you?) 

- Anytime, anywhere, and for whatever reason you can always call Yata for help. Yata is an extremely protective person whether it be of your flesh and blood or simply your name. He’s not letting anyone get away with harming you, not a single insult will go unpunished by him, and he’s not afraid to get dirty to do it. He’ll go take that baseball bat out of the closet so fast it’s not funny. He’ll beat the shit out of someone if you asked him to, no questions asked. Even if you’re trying to be cautious or sweep it under the rug, Yata will argue. If you’re not going to be angry, then he’ll rage for you. He also won’t hesitate to gather up the gang for it too. Yata is a guy ready to go to war for you.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?) 

- Yata is still embarrassed to do date stuff, like he wants to, but he’s someone who can make himself feel embarrassed for no reason, he just over thinks it. He gets better the longer you’re in the relationship, but in the beginning it’s a bit messy. He gets an A for effort if anything. I think he might start his habit of assuming what he should do and what you would enjoy, like since it’s a date you’re supposed to go see a romantic movie, and then go out to a nice restaurant, oh and he’s supposed to have gifts for you, right? Once Yata gets over his awkward stage and understands that dates don’t need to be the stereotypical shit then he’s good. Now, anniversaries are a bit better because that means he's had time to adjust. I think he can really enjoy celebrating them, and would put in his best effort to plan something. Even if you don’t care to celebrate those I think he’d still try to do something. Gifts are all the same too, though the important thing to remember is that Yata’s budget is not large at all. He tries to save every penny he can so he can give you something you deserve, so even if it’s “not much” just know Yata probably busted his ass off to get it for you.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?) 

- Not much at all. I mean, he showers and puts on clean clothes. That’s as much as he does towards his appearance. He’s not the type to care about making sure he looks good all the time, he doesn’t prim himself. He also doesn’t care to wear or buy anything that’s in fashion. He wears what he thinks is comfortable and “cool” and mostly what he can afford. He also doesn’t care about your looks either. You don’t have to dress all hot for him, but he would definitely notice, and would secretly wish he dressed nicer for you too. 

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?) 

- Absolutely. If anything happens in which you’re not in his life whether death or temporary, Yata feels like he’s missing a part of him. If you’re gone temporarily, like visiting family who live far away, Yata tries to keep his spirit up and wait for you, texting and calling you whenever, and keeping his mind off you by hanging out with his friends and such. He kinda feels shy at the fact that he gets like this, and I’m sure Kusanagi and Anna would point it out much to his dismay. Now, in death, yeah no he just lost part of him, and that part of him won’t be the same. Yata’s whole life is his people, and he doesn’t take lightly to losing anyone, especially the person he intended to keep with the rest of his life.
