Don’s final words softened her heart even more. He was willing to do something she knew he wouldn’t want, for Lily, just to appease her. The thought of an eternity with him was something she desired along with the strength that came with it, so she could protect Don better.

“Will you really give it to me?” She whispered. She was ready for that life with him. “I love you, Don. I will wait for the right time to ask you to give me eternity with you.” She closes her eyes and lowers her head, her once pixie cut now longer, hid her face and showed just how long he had been away when he left. She didn’t know what she else to say. She lost his trust and she knew that well.

“Yes, I will. You have my word. When the time is right and when you’re ready… I will. But you have to start trusting me and listening to me. I don’t expect you to obey me like Logan and Ben, you’re not just my junior… You’re also my partner. We don’t have to talk about the fine print right now but can we at least bury this argument? I miss you. Come back to me.”

Truth be told, though he hid it well, Don’s heart sank fast at the thought of turning her. A life of eternity, and eternal damnation, was not what he wanted for her. He knew the loss she had experienced in her life, but there would be so much more to come that he couldn’t ready her for. And how would he explain this to Ben? His younger brother wanted to be just like him, and at this rate Don would end up giving in to him too. Part of the thought enticed him, the four of them having their own empire. He couldn’t blame Lily for doing this for the same reasons he did; For love.

“I don’t want monuments…i just want you…” She whispers softly as a sudden sob managed to escape her lips. “But if I you’re saying it’s not enough…do you..you don’t want me anymore?” She was ready to run. She stood there, preparing herself to be hurt. If he didn’t want her she would leave and disappear for good. Anything he did would be enough for her but he wouldn’t believe anything she said now…so she stayed silent.

Momentary comfort was found in hearing her say that she just wanted him, but a part of him didn’t believe her.

“I’m sorry Don. I was being a brat. I was just so hurt but i shouldn’t have shut you out like that. I…i missed you…so much.” She covered her mouth after when she felt her eyes welling up with tears. She didn’t want to show weakness.

Silence. Don just stood there, still has the air around him, and looked at her with puzzled eyes. Part of him wanted to run to her, embrace her, tell her she was forgiven and that this could never happen again. But his pride and arrogance told him to stay angry, make her beg to be forgiven, make her feel twice the pain and anguish he had felt over all those days. In the long silence he fought an internal battle between the two options.

Once at work she went straight to Mino. Without even a morning greeting she began asking him if Don had been busy. “Is he with someone right now? I need to speak with him.”

Lily walked into the parking lot and got into her car. Mino has let her know Don hadn’t come into work today and had ordered everyone to stay away. Lily of course didn’t care about his threats. She put her car into drive and drove straight to Don’s villa.

Standing at his door now it was taking a lot for Lily to admit defeat and apologize for the way she had been acting. It wasn’t until she felt the rain falling on her did she come to her senses and head up to the door. She rang the doorbell and knocked hard.

Don was already at the door by the time she knocked. He had been standing there from the moment she parked, waiting and listening. He wanted to be mad but he wanted to hold her, he wanted to yell at her but he wanted to kiss her. She had to have known he was alone.

Before she could finish knocking he opened the door slowly. Usually he was the one dressed to impress, but he was still in pajama bottoms with no shirt. His hair was a mess, he hadn’t even tried.

This was longer than he expected, longer than it had ever been, longer than he ever wanted. Lily had walked away from him and not come back for almost two weeks now. If she had to work, everything went through Mino, Don was left out of it. He didn’t even see her in passing. At first, it only infuriated him. Let her act like a child, he would say. But now, coming up on 13 days, he just missed her.

Once at work she went straight to Mino. Without even a morning greeting she began asking him if Don had been busy. “Is he with someone right now? I need to speak with him.”

Lily walked into the parking lot and got into her car. Mino has let her know Don hadn’t come into work today and had ordered everyone to stay away. Lily of course didn’t care about his threats. She put her car into drive and drove straight to Don’s villa.

“I believe you.” She said softly as she looked down at her lap. She wasn’t lying. But it still didn’t make her any less uneasy.

“You have forever with her and i don’t have that. I can’t protect you as well as she can. I’m just. Is she living with you too?!” Lily couldn’t look at him knowing more tears would just end up falling. She hated being this weak.

After a long moment of silence, she spoke up once more. “Why didn’t you come see me? Why did you wait? Why was I not first before your work. Ben and I kept things running fine. Why didn’t you come?”

As she walked aimlessly, she hadn’t realized she ended up in a park until she bumped her head into a tree. She winced and rubbed her forehead. “Great.” She looked up at the tree, ready to kick the trunk whilst blaming it for being in her way until she spotted a single blossom blooming from a branch. It was the only tree that had a blossom blooming among the trees that lined the walking path in the park. It calmed her slightly to see it and she let out a heavy sigh as she sat on the bench beside the tree. 

He followed her from a distance as she walked away from him, once he realized she had left, that is. He was puzzled by her at most given times, but this was particularly upsetting to him. She was almost radiating pain as she made her way towards the park. How much more pain could he cause her before she left him? Before it was too much? He pushed her away and pulled her back, came and left again, over and over he either had her angry or in tears. What a selfish being he was, holding a human hostage by the strings of her heart.

His self chastising was interrupted by her walking directly into a tree. Had he been paying attention he could have stopped her, but now he bit back a chuckled at her silly misfortune.
