“The kids make it all better don’t they?” She asked shaking her head, “But if you don’t want any then I’ll be sober along with you.”

“Really, if you want some don’t let me stop you. I’m just not a huge fan of drinking anymore.”

“I think we’re all awkward when it comes to talking. We can always make a special mix of alcohol though and not talk.”

“It's easier now than it was before. Seeing Rebecka and Damien and Ryan...I mean, that's why I did it. I just miss being what I was. You make a special mix now? I still don't really drink, but if you want to go for it.”

“If you need to talk though I’m here. We should all  support each other after all.”

“I know you are. And that if anyone has support it’s me, after...everything. I’m not good at talking, I never really have been. I’ll be okay.”

Well, I’ve just been trying to enjoy my summer until I have to go back to school. I kind of chose to take another and not graduate early to stay with Ryan and Damien and of course Jonica. What’s up with you?

Hopefully the summer won't be too bad. I'm sure they appreciate it, if nothing else. I see Damien more than I do Ryan and Jonica, but they all really seem to care about you. My life isn't too interesting, a lot of my time's been spent with my cousin Hope lately.

“Who have you talked to about it?”

“Only Hope, but even then...we don't talk about it a whole lot. I try not to bring it up, it tends to depress everyone.”

“No, but if you want to talk about it you can.”

“Being here is just...bringing it all back. Being out there it was easier to pretend I hadn’t turned the way I did, and don’t get me wrong, seeing all the kids makes it worth it. But  it still really sucks and I don’t feel any closer to finding a way back than I was before.” 

“What’s on your mind, Kim?”

“I'm just...stressed. So not really anything new, I guess.”

Everyone has been really vocal about making defensive plans. I don’t--maybe Marcel rubbed off on me more than I thought, but I don’t think it’s a good idea. I feel like the way they’re all going about it is just gonna do more harm than good...draw more attention to us.

I’ve got time.

I, um...I spent a really long time away from my family, and a little while ago I saw one of my cousins for the first time since then. And he, uh, he's not doing great. He doesn't think that anyone can tell, but I've...well, I can. But I don't think my aunt and uncle really do, and he's not really...receptive, so it's pretty messy.

That’s my question. I want to figure a plan out to keep us safe.

I did have an idea...or at least part of one. But I have a feeling nobody will go for it.

It depends on what ‘it’ is.

“Kim, we’re sisters. We always have each other’s backs right?” She asked raising her eyebrows, “I’ll do anything to protect you.”

“Of course, I just know that this is asking a lot. The magic used in this is...really strong.” Kim sighed, although she knew her sister didn't need her to say it. “You don't have to protect me, Lia, I'm just grateful for the help.”
