genuinely why do moms care so much about their daughters hair

like i will spend five minutes prefacing to my mom that i don’t want to cut my hair before telling her that i think a short cut looks good on a celebrity or something and she’ll immediately go “DON’T GET THAT HAIRCUT YOU’LL REGRET IT!!!”

I don’t think giving a good horror performance is that hard

i understand my mom is struggling but i feel like i’m bashing my head against the wall talking to her sometimes

it’s like she wants me here and doesn’t want to be alone but then everything i say makes her get snippy and/or full-blown upset with me. the other night turned into an hours long meltdown where she yelled at me until 3am and at one point screamed at me to shut up. but because she’s suicidal the expectation is that i stay with her every second. it just doesn’t seem fair but i have no clue what’s right to do

like i feel like if i leave she’ll hurt herself but also being around her is torture and she’s being so aggressive and mean that i’m also scared for my safety
