If you haven't read this book, and you are remotely interested in orcas, you need to. There are so many amazing studies and revelations in this book that can really shape your understanding of these creatures.Â
Happy Mothers Day everyone

Killer Whale Scrapbook turned 6 today!
4/20/17 - Multiple families gather to feed on a gray whale. In the last two photos, humpback whales attempt to interfere.

It all started when I was three years old. My parents took me to the Oregon Coast Aquarium where I saw Keiko in his massive glory. Since then the mystery of the ocean has interested and excited me.
Over the years I have collected many books about all different aspects of the sea and had hoped to have my career be centered around the ocean. In my senior year of high school I was granted an internship with Jean Michelle Cousteau but with the decline of the stock market the funding for my internship was lost.
I may not have a career in marine biology or oceanography, but that world still sparks something inside me that I have never felt before. No matter where my life takes me I will always be most at home when the ocean is in my mind.

Transient orcas in Alaska teaching their young calf how to hunt! (x)
Kinda wish we could see Orcas in Florida….
I hear ya, I wish I could see them in Texas! There are orcas in the Gulf, but they’re so far out that people rarely see them. Same with most Gulf cetas. Bottlenose dolphins are great, though I’m still jealous of people who live in places where they can reliably see more than one ceta species, ha ha.
