Send In the Clowns - Judy Collins (Judith, 1975)
the other day I learnt that Kikyō does a little, like, chuckle at Kansuke saying he threw Onigumo into “jigoku no naraku” and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. Was anyone going to tell me? I feel like it’s important information
yesss she did something like this she's so funny HDHDHHSHD
so, kikyo wasn't supposed to be an intentionally amusing character for the story? rumiko pointed out once none of her scenes had comic relief like most characters did bcs she was supposed to bring a sense of tension to the story, even with sesshomaru there are light scenes where he either kicks or steps on jaken, we simply don't have that in the manga.
but she's VERY sardonic, and this gets exalted in the anime a lot, bcs in that episode with kansuke she was like mrs. comedy, didn't kansuke also ask her if she feeds from air or something when he realized she wasn't carrying food for herself and she was like "something like that"? 😭😭😭
Hello! What do you think of BanKik? 👀
i like it! it's among my kikyo crack ships bcs i 1) love imagining kikyo interacting with many individuals and it's not hard for me to imagine anyone falling for her 2) sunrise just had to make them interact and have them evaluate each other's existence and have bankotsu casually flirt with kikyo JDJDJDJDHJF
💬 0 🔁 190 ❤️ 298
and i like the concept of bankik a lot precisely bcs they're in opposition with each other's philosophy of life, each of them at the end of the spectrum of virtue, kikyo following it to the point of repressing her feelings/wants, bankotsu doing about ANYTHING he wanted without caring about the concept of virtue.
now my thing with bankik is that sumisawa or whoever was in charge of this one episode's direction already exposed what would make a potential relationship between them very complicated or have them clash inevitably.
bcs you see, no matter how much kikyo would say she felt freer and less held down by the shackles of correctness, she still wished to help as much as she could, that was just her nature, even if granted freedom to be herself she still wanted to be out there doing what was right and helping others - but bankotsu was the opposite HDHDHDHD
bankotsu knew of loyalty and affection for those he held dear, he had his own codes and operated by them, but he wasn't interested in being "good" and he definitely enjoyed the thrill of fighting in a way kikyo did not and never did.
and then comes the murders (? bcs an understanding between kikyo and bankotsu starts and ends in that, precisely in that one scene kikyo asks him why he's not using his second chance at life to be different or be better, and he waves her off about that, they're obviously very different individuals, uninterested in the other's way of living their borrowed life.
now there's potential, i can see bankotsu trying unruffle kikyo or pulling her away from her martyr tendencies, and since kikyo was understanding of human nature (she was understanding even of onigumo even when he absolutely ruined her life and got her killed), i can see her finding salvageable traits in bankotsu, perhaps in his everlasting loyalty to those that are like him.
that's your sort of fic when two individuals are forced to spend time together and know each other hahaha that's how i feel about them!

I sent you an (anonymous) question about Kikyo, and you didn't reply )';
i got my classes for tomorrow cancelled so i'm going to check the asks rn!!! 🤸🏻♀️
kikyo goes to see him, gives him the shikon jewel, taunts him, confuses him, leaves, and the first thing he does right away is undress and recall her... he's such an omega.
@jakotsuto
It's great to have you back!
;;;; awwww thank youu ♡♡♡♡
i felt with energy and time to post yesterday and today i woke up even sicker with a cold JFJFJDJJFFJJF figures that's how life works (?
but i've been thinking about kikyo and posting about her on here so much, in my most mundane real life moments i'm quite literally like this about her
so i really just want to be on here and ramble about kikyo and interact more, i'm yelling at the void more on twt these days but i miss it here so much 😢 i have stupid thoughts i want to overshare on here too 💔

after like 8-9 years of using sai for my drawings I finally decided to try my hand at some other program *cofcofClipStudiocof*! it wasn't too bad ~ and of course I HAD to draw Kagome for this! hehe c:
Pretty Butterfly 🦋
Kikyo with children.
Although I like InuKik, I can't help feeling and thinking that she is too much for him and he wasn't good enough for her; like he never really understood her nor appreciated her as she deserved.
Well that's a matter of perspective too, in my opinion he understood her pretty much the most, he knew her so well that he could see though her knowing when was she lying about something (or hiding info)
he also saw how sad she was before and after she died and is it what influences him to stay calmer and maturer around her (being more human? kinda) This was pointed out by Koga once.
He wanted to help her even if he didn't know how and you can see how comfortable they are with each other in the way they embrace each time they met (which was pointed out even by Kagome at mount hakurei)
I think that a lot is omitted in the manga and the anime about their relationship and is more like you have to interpret it by the little bits Rumiko gives you.
We have to understand that Kikyo in life probably pushed Inuyasha away because of her Miko role but even then she was completely unable to (is like they are super comfortable with each other, like is smth usual for them not sure how to explain) and then when she died and saw he had feelings for Kagome she kinda keeps distance trying to not force him.
At the end the one that can decide if Inuyasha was or wasn't enough is Kikyo herself.
Thanks for the ask anon!
i had commented on this post months ago but i was recalling it the other day while i was pondering on this belief that inuyasha was either not mature enough for kikyo or didn't understand her and i can write as to why i don't think that's true.
while i understand that kikyo was indeed the character that brought the element of seriousness to the story, therefore not many characters in the story matched her temper consistently, the reason for this was both her grim circumstances and the way she was trained and socialized (due to her era).
but even if she was living a different reality than inuyasha who surrounded himself with more lively individuals, nobody in the entire series understood and appreciated her like him. nobody was willing to put aside the everything "negative" about her after her revival like him.
the moment she was brought back, just after giving her side of the story, inuyasha not only went for a hug the moment she was doubting the veracity of his feelings, he immediately empathized with her and how hard life had been for HER.
we have previous chapters where the narrative revolves around us feeling bad about inuyasha for being a half-breed, for being lonely and an outcast and being despised by both humans, youkai and his own brother. but he was still affirming SHE had it worse than him, and it's enough to make kikyo cry, possibly the only time we see her expressing grief over her own life.
then we have kikyo most likely projecting her own feelings for herself, hoping to hear inuyasha express how much he despises the state of her (like she probably did, bcs this is right after the sayu episode and she was obviously disheartened to realize she was like a monster to other people even if she didn't look like one), the things she's doing that are so unlike the "pure" and "selfless" person she used to be when she was alive.
and inuyasha doesn't respond with the disdain she was hoping for, it's all the contrary, he really doesn't care what she does or how she looks like, his feelings for her run that deep that he's just not capable of resenting her and all the more, he's been loving her just the same since he woke up.
and to disqualify the importance of inuyasha and kikyo's in the life of the other, i always see people theorize they didn't know each other enough, not in the way the inugang and kagome do, but he definitely understood kikyo's nature better than anyone.
whereas everyone was always expecting the worst of her and immediately theorized it was her blocking kagome's powers, he was certain it couldn't be her, but in the hypothetical case it was her, it wouldn't have been out of malice, but the genuine desire to not fight anymore, bcs she may have been prodigious when it came to skill and using her spiritual powers, but she was a pacifist at heart and was tired of fighting. that wasn't her nature, and inuyasha once again proved that he got her and the reason behind her melancholy and isolation while she was alive.
i think inuyasha was between a rock and a hard place bcs he was indeed happy with kagome and she was good for him and she definitely needed to be protected by him, but he also wanted to protect kikyo and would've wanted to be more for her, probably would've put aside how comfortable he was with his group had she just asked him to. but she didn't, bcs she could tell he was happy to belong somewhere even if she didn't, and never would. that's also why she distanced herself from him consciously.
typical case of the love was there, it didn't change anything, but it was there. i would've liked for things to be different for kikyo and i will always grief that, but i can't hold it against inuyasha bcs life made him meet the same soul twice and then at the same time and that must've been complicated for him jdjfjfj cut him some slaaaack.

you 🫵 are mad bcs kikyo or kagome "get in the way" of your ship. i'm mad that inuyasha got in the way of kagkik getting to know and like each other. we're NOT the same ☝️
