RAINBOW FIELDS
I have a love/hate relationship with this painting. I love the composition and color but damn, it’s almost every color out the crayon box.
This watercolor painting is of Kissa and her family with some friends. Father is in the background and mother is flying above.
ACROSS THE LAKE
I once saw an image of trees coming out of a lake cloudy from being ice cold but not frozen yet. It was haunting and beautiful. About a year later, I came back to it when I started painting my poster series.
In this watercolor painting, instead of having the trees in the water I decided to have them over over it. The tree tops are taken from a crystal structure I found in someones collection shared on Tumblr and the base is actually one of 20 designs. Each design designates what plant type is growing.
LAMIA DANDELION SHEEP
I have always thought the seeds floating off dandelions as you blow it looked like little sheep. So, I decided to paint “my” little and I am super happy with how the watercolor painting turned out.
HOW THEY MET
This particular watercolor painting is depicting how the mother and father of the main character, Kissa, met. I tried create an illuminated cavern. I like it but I think I will most likely take another stab at it.
BIRD DOG TRIBE
The dogs are also apart the water tribes. They consists of standing male warriors and their counterpart floating females. I fashioned them after striking parrots and other colorful birds. Many elements to their coat/fur were also influenced by a flowering plant I worked by and couldn’t stop staring at as I drove pass daily.

FIERY GEMSCAPE
There are a few elements from Voltron and an image I found on the web that contributed to this painting. I am astounded by color usage in that whole series, beautiful contrast and mood created. One scene in particular is in the lion’s cockpit and the pink color of the view screen. The image, is a stark black and white photograph of large boulders found on a beach. It gave me the most incredible feeling seeing it, desolation and strength.
This is my second attempt designing the cat-like creatures. The first were taken from lion fish features. This time, I wanted to incorporate more of the crystalline nature of the world into the creature itself. I also merged insect facial features with the grace and mannerisms I find in cats.
I am super pleased with this piece.
Side note: the pink I used acted more like a spot color. So I when I translated it to a CMYK color platform the color changed. Disappointing but I knew why it happened.
PINEAPPLE DEER
I have always been allergic to pineapple but over the last few years its moved from “yes please, I’ll live” to “dear lord, I’m going to die”. I miss it so much and it is in everything. One night, I was having a conversation with a friend about it and we thought it would be neat to honor my most favorite fruit as a creature and pineapple deer was born.
This watercolor painting was sooooooo much fun to make. The world, sized perspective of the deer was new to me and man do I feel I nailed it.
