Self-Sacrificing Dummy Pt.3
(Sorry I’ve been very inactive here, I just got a lot of school and other family things going on but the motivation to write came back so behold :3)
Corvus would say the his imprisonment so far has been . . . Rough
They left the stronghold at dawn, and the next few hours were spent walking and walking and then they stopped for a short break, and they kept walking and walking.
Corvus had been ignoring the rude comments many of the elves made at him as he knew they were just trying to get a rise out of him or make him attack first so they could attack him back. But Corvus was a master at keeping his cool and tricking people so it didn’t matter how many cruel and vile words were said at him, he would just ignore it
Corvus was going to use this time to think of an escape plan of some sort, he’s traveled through Xadia a few times and, if he does manage to escape, he has a few friends that will be willing to help him back to Katolis. But every plan he tried to come up with had one obstacle, and that was the Golden Knight
From what Amaya has told him she’s a ruthless warrior and won’t let Corvus escape so easily, and from the way she kept looking back at Corvus like she was making sure he was still there, the Golden Knight was going to be a problem for sure.
So Corvus needed to find some way to trick the elves into lowering their guard, he could probably-
Corvus would’ve have been able to catch himself before he face planted onto the ground if it not the cuff restraining his hands behind his back, he could heard the elves behind him snickering claim the shove to be an accident. Once Corvus was hauled back onto his feet an elf, probably the one who pushed him down, made a ‘come at me’ motion with his hands, he wasn’t going to play into this game so Corvus just took a breathe and kept moving forward
The elves were still making comments and remarks about Corvus but he just tuned them out, fighting or otherwise trying to do anything besides walk would only get him in trouble and make it harder to escape later. So Corvus’s plan was to lay low, make it seem like he had absolutely no intention of escaping so when they let their guard down he could escape
This plan, like the others he had thought of, just had one obstacle, The Golden Knight. She was at the front of the group and not once had she joined the name calling that the other elves were doing, she’d just occasionally look back at him and then turn away.
She was going to make this so much harder.
Despite the many more attempts by the elves to cause a conflict, Corvus was able to make it through the journey with little to no injury, there was just one more day of walking and he be in Lux Aurea as a prisoner to the Sunfire elves so tonight as the group rested Corvus let him himself feel something. He didn’t know if it was sadness or anger or regret but he could feel tears welding in his eyes
Maybe it would have been better if he died in that explosion, then he wouldn’t be tied to a tree awaiting his inevitable demise once the Sunfire elves realize he won’t give them the answers they’re looking for
“You know this is your last chance to cooperate before her Radiance gets her hands on you”
The Golden Knight is standing in front of him, Corvus had been so out of it he hadn’t heard her approach. He also quickly blinked the tears in his eyes away because there was no chance he was going to show weakness in front of his captors.
“If you tell me one thing that is of any value I can shield you from the worst of her Radiance’s wrath”
Corvus knew what she was doing, she was trying to get in his head, she was trying to scare him. But Corvus just sat there stone faced as he glared at the Golden Knight, and the Golden Knight sighed once she realized he wasn’t going to talk
“Can you at least tell me your name?”
At least she says, like Corvus owes her this, he just scoffed at this question. The Golden Knight just sighed again and started to walk back to where the other Sunfire elves had set up camp.
The Golden Knight stopped in her tracks
“Corvus is an . . . Unusual name for a human”
Corvus has heard this plenty of times, for a brief time there was even a rumor in the kingdom of Katolis that he was an elf, it caused quite a ruckus. The Golden Knight looked lost in thought, this was good, if Corvus could gain some sympathy points with her maybe his eventual escape would go a lot smoother.
“My mother named my after her favorite constellation, also her fondness for crows definitely played a part in naming me”
The Golden Knight looked caught off guard, as if the last thing she expected was for Corvus to actually talk, but she looked suspicious too, she was going to be hard to fool but luckily Corvus is a great actor.
“Is knowing your name off the table oh great Golden Knight of Lux Aurea?”
Corvus smirked as the words left his mouth, maybe this elf had a sense of humor. The Golden Knight frown and looked disgusted, probably because a filthy human was asking to know her name. There was an uncomfortable moment of silence before the Golden Knight turned back to the other elves
“Do not try this with her Radiance, she will not be as kind as I”
And with that the Golden Knight went back to the other elves, leaving Corvus to his own devices
Trying to tug on the Golden Knight’s heartstrings seemed unlike to succeed and from what he’s been told the Queen of the Sunfire elves definitely won’t have an ounce of pity for him. Looks like Corvus is going to have to go the obedient route and then maybe he’ll have a chance of escape
But he could worry about all that tomorrow, so as it was getting harder and harder to stay awake Corvus like a single tear fall from his face . . . He wishes he would’ve said goodbye to Amaya and Gren
(Janai’s having some internal conflict going on but she still thinks human are the worst! Anyways hoped you liked this and have a wonderful day!!!!!)
