Another Cooke study. This guy pitched to DC in the 90s but was told his style wouldn't sell. Yet he stuck to his guns and found a home working on Batman animated. Then in the early 2000s someone at DC found his old pitch and called him up! Play the long game.

Another Darwyn Cooke study. I love his impressionistic style. How he chisels out forms using value and contrast. I love that his art simultaneously visceral in its raw ink heavy angularity and elegant in its simplicity.

School is almost out but I'm still studying. This is a sketchbook page trying to learn from the great Darwyn Cooke. I'll be posting more later on what I love about his work, sketchbooking, and how we learn from artists who have mastered their craft.

Wednesday Weird Mickeys.

Team SLUG Tuesday. How do you draw a slug in scuba gear? Here's a couple of concept doodles trying to figure it out. One is a more sci fi version the second is based on a WW2 frogman. This also gives you an idea about some upcoming adventures.
