“But, what if every single stumble, every challenge, every experience in our life was only intended for one purpose: to bring us back to our origin? What if every win, every loss, every beauty, every fall, every cruelty, and every smile was only intended to unveil another barrier between us and God? Between us and where we began, and where we are desperately seeking to return?”
— Yasmin Mogahed
“To get what you love, you must first be patient with what you hate.”
— Abu Hamid al-Ghazali
“When Allah blesses us with money, we depend on the money rather than Allah. We forget that the source of our provision is not and never was the money, but rather it was the giver of that money. Suddenly we’re willing to sell alcohol to avoid losing money in our business, or we need to take out loans with interest to feel secure. In so doing we are foolishly—and ironically—disobeying the Provider in order to protect the provision.”

“When you get married or married don’t try to control your spouse. He/she wont always act the way you want. Give him/her space when needed. Don’t be clingy because it may suffocate your spouse. He/she may need some personal time to improve themselve or to hang out with friend. Don’t expect that he/she will be their for you 24 hour. Try to have less expectation and focus on how you can improve the relation rather than is he/she behaving the way I want? May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala grant you a spouse who will be the coolness of your eyes and those who are married may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala bless your marriage. Allahumma Ameen”

If Allāh has written something for you - whether that is money, a job, a spouse, or anything else - no one in heavens can take it from you. Wallahi, you’ll just get it. Just rely upon Him.
Shaykh Mohammad Aslam
“Always pray that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make your spouse a blessing not a trial.”

We’re all travelers in this world.
–Our destination is the same, but we take different routes.
–Our necessities are the same, but we utilize different means.
–Our suffering is the same, though our pain and anguish may differ in source.
–Our anxieties are the same, though our fears may differ in source.
–And our need for love and companionship is the same, even though our relationships may differ.
Sometimes though, we may go hungry, feel lost, get cold, heal slowly, or have to walk a part of the course alone. We may feel overwhelmed and discouraged, but as long as we remember that we’re travelers, we’re good.
Because travelers travel. They don’t get too comfortable in one place or stay anywhere for too long. They know where they’re headed and they’re eager to get there safely and in tact. And they certainly don’t get dragged behind or bogged down by a dead weight.
Toxic relationships = dead weight.
Cut out people who prevent you from moving forward. They’re not going anywhere because they can’t see anything beyond their own misery. They’re stuck in ingratitude and darkness and don’t want you to advance ahead of them.
Surround yourself with people who love you sincerely; appreciate you; don’t take you for granted; never hurt your feelings with abusive words, threats, or empty promises; don’t betray or backstab you; and don’t use you or take advantage of you.
Surround yourself with people who remind you of God’s favor upon you for bringing them into your life every time you think of them or see them.
When you meet those people they will not only travel by your side, but they’ll spend the entire time removing as many obstacles from your path as possible, and tending to you with no ulterior motive but to love you and make your journey easy because they know your value and never want you to leave their side.
May God surround us all with the best of company and help facilitate our every step towards Him. Amin.

Pray.
If you do nothing else, pray.
If you abandon the prayer, you abandon your soul.
—from the journal of Umm Zakiyyah
“Last I heard he was arrested for buying large amounts of cocaine. My mom let me know. She called me one day and said: ‘I don’t want you to find out by Googling your name.’ It wasn’t a huge surprise, actually. It explained a lot of his behavior. He promised to pay for our school, then didn’t. He never wanted to pay child support. He started calling less and less. I haven’t heard from him in years. But I have a really, really great stepdad. I just call him Andrew. My first memory of him was when I was ten years old. I just thought he was a nice older guy at the New Year’s Eve party. But my mom got hammered, and the whole ride home, she kept saying: ‘Isn’t he so great? Isn’t he so cute?’ Two years later he moved in with us. He never tried to discipline me. He’d leave that to my mom. He always had the attitude of: ‘I’m not your father.’ But he was another adult in the house that I could rely on. And I’d never had that before. He’d cook meals for us. And he’d really work hard on them. And he’d drive me places. I think 95% of my needs at the time were cooking and driving. Even today, I could call him if I need a ride anywhere. If he’s not able to do it himself, he’ll pay for a cab. Or he’ll figure out another solution. It’s the kind of attention that makes you feel like you’re deserving of someone else’s time. He’s far from perfect. He works too much. He snores. He doesn’t do his laundry. But when I think of the qualities of a good man, or dad, or just person, Andrew’s got them.”
