On The Road To SLP

It's a great day to be a Mountaineer!

I was notified this afternoon that the job that I have had a few interviews for is mine if I want it! This is such great news. I really needed a job, and since the graduate program I am going into is very flexible the job couldn't be more perfect. I will be teaching at a brand new private preschool in Huntersville. I couldn't be happier. Plus, this will help me gain a significant amount of experimental knowledge in the area of child development which is the field that I want to pursue a career in. I have so many things to be thankful for right now. Things are really falling into place nicely, and I can only thank The Lord for that. He has a plan for me and I am seeing it start to take shape, so I have to give him all the glory!

Today I had my first Thanksgiving dinner with my boyfriend's immediate family. I love thanksgiving. I love all the great food and the quality time with family. I am a huge family person. The holidays bring out the best in people and it is always fun to visit with everyone. Anyway, I really enjoyed hanging out with Daniel's 2 year old nephew. His name is Carter and he is so cute, and funny. Children have a way of making you realize what you should truly be grateful for. Today was a good day. One thanksgiving meal down five more to go! Bring on the turkey!

I just found out that I will be starting graduate school in January!!! I have been accepted into the Child Development Birth-Kindergarten grad program at AppState. I can't even contain my excitement! I cried immediately when I saw the word "congratulations," and my armpits haven't stopped sweating since I saw the email (haha). This is perfect timing. I can just add this to my list of this to be thankful for during this time of thanksgiving!

I have been so bored this week. I haven't had anything due or any tests to study for so it's weird not having anything to do. Granted, I could work on some things that have to be done for next week, but let's be real it's too soon to worry about that. On top of being bored I am missing my dog. I usually have her here with me, but I left her home this week due to maintenance inspections going on this week. So I haven't even had her around to play with. Even though it has been boring, it's also quite relaxing so I am going to enjoy it!

I had such a great weekend. I had dinner with my grandparents Friday evening. They are amazing and so funny and I love spending time with them. Then I headed home and watched Christmas movies with Mama. We decided to go shopping on Saturday. That always makes for a good time. I got my outfit and shoes for graduation. So that got me pretty excited! However, all the stores are already crowded and I suppose they will be that way until after Christmas. Anyway, I had date night with my sweetie Saturday evening, he makes my heart happy. Then Sunday is always split between my family and Daniel's family, but either way Sunday is family day which are always full of plenty of conversation and lots of laughs. I closed out my Sunday evening with Christmas movies once again, snuggled up next to my Mama and my Ellie Mae on the couch. I didn't work on a single thing for school all weekend. I didn't even take my book bag home, and it was so nice and relaxing. I cannot wait to graduate! 33 more days!

Now that Halloween is all over and done with I decided to turn on the Christmas music. Some people argue that Christmas kind of steals the Thanksgiving spirit, but personally I think it adds to the spirit of Thanksgiving. Christmas music and Christmas decorations certainly do not hinder how thankful I am for everything that I have and the time I get to spend with my family. These are the 2 greatest holidays and I don't mind combining them a little to make them that much better!

I am absolutely in love with country music. It reminds me so much of home because I am a country girl. Not to mention I have listened to it all my life. I don't care for new country all that much because some of it really blows. Like Luke Bryan does nothing for me. I hate his music and he is not good looking. However, I am a fan of lots of others, and of course the older country artists. Anyway, the country music awards come on in less than an hour and I am stoked. I will not be doing anymore schoolwork until tomorrow. My night is booked. Bring on the cowboys, and sassy southern belles!

When is the literature review due? Thursday? Is it due in class or is he putting a Dropbox on Asulearn? I really hate the vagueness going on right now!

Walmart is the most terrible place on earth. I feel like all the idiots are drawn to that place. Rude people standing in the middle of aisles, they never have what I need, other people who don't know how to steer buggies, and the the population known as "the people of Walmart." I had to go to Walmart this evening to get a few things and everybody in town was also there. So I run into about 15,000 people I know (gotta love that). Then when I'm ready for checkout they only have 3 registers open! Why do they have 25 freaking registers if they never use them? Because everybody knows they NEVER use all of them. It's weird. I hate that place. This girl is a definite Target shopper. Walmart can rot.

It's Halloween and I am sitting here watching Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Halloween special. I didn't want to spend money on a costume this year because I don't have the money to spend. This is the first year ever that I have not dressed up and it's pretty depressing. Thank goodness I won't have school tying me down next year and I can celebrate Halloween with alcohol and a costume, and I will be able to afford it all! To be quite honest just having trick or treaters would make me smile though. Oh well, at least Grey's Anatomy has a Halloween special coming on tonight.
