The idea of Mithrun learning time travel is so interesting when you consider how much he probably wouldn't change. He wouldn't do shit to the timeline continuum for the Most Part. His petty ass wouldn't even move time to win an argument from his hindsight. Nope. Man uses it to do basic stuff like Oh I forgot to water the plants, oh I left the plants out last night and the storm broke the pot, I left the candles burning too close to the drapes. He'd go back in time to just trudge through the house on a Mission. Kabru just looks up like??? didn't you leave already? (his Mithrun left an hour ago) but nope. Mithrun's back. He's just gonna water the plant and jump back to his time. It will be a hassle if he doesn't do this.
I also see Mithrun developing the habit of kissing Kabru goodbye and being upset with himself when he forgets. He'll jump time too just to find Kabru, kiss him senseless, then leave the room to go back to his time now that the wrong is corrected. Kabru still has yet to figure out why the hell Mithrun keeps coming back home and why it's either to kiss him or to fix minor shit. Sometimes both. Kabru assumes he's teleporting. Kabru is wrong.
The last time Mithrun timeskips is deliberate. He tells himself he won't jump back anymore no matter how much he finds himself wanting. The last time he jumps time is the day Kabru dies, and he goes back to give him one last lingering kiss goodbye.

Mithrun appearing at Kabru's room in the middle of the night, startling Kabru who woke to the sound of urgent knocks. He starts fretting over what the issue is that'd summon Mithrun so late, but also is trying to bring him inside before anyone awakes from the commotion. They end up getting distracted with each other and Mithrun forgets to mention until the morning that he lost his house key (there are now eight of his house keys lost around Melini and a 9th in Kabru's pocket) and he's too low on mana to teleport inside so he just trudged to the castle to get a key and then saw Kabru and instantly forgot what he was doing. The inkling of a desire to be lured to a warm bed by his lover is stronger than his urge to go home.

I've been really into Link Click so this post is for any kbmsers in both fandoms (w light spoilers)
Kabru and Mithrun with abilities similar to cxs and lg would be so,,,, I love this idea for them. I was trying to picture who would fit which role better, either guiding the other as they jump back in time to gain intel or being the one jumping back but both understand that The Past Can't Be Changed (they have an easier time than cxs with this). However, they both have pasts that they wish they could change and would do anything to correct-- But also know that what matters Now is the future.
So, which one of them wouth make a move like lg and only change the past to prevent the others death? I honestly see Mithrun either doing this in desperation (the world cant lose kabru type shift) or Kabru wanting Mithrun to have a happier ending and constantly obsessing over making a perfect timeline. If anyone else is deep in these series and wants to speculate and ramble with me hmu i have no friends who watch link click (yet)
Sometimes I have nightmares envisioning Mithrun postcanon starting to distace himself from Kabru a bit into their friendship because he, however irrationally, believes that Kabru might resent and blame him for indirectly causing the events of Utaya.

i have never seen this template before and like to have fun so I did it--
I think it'd be sweet if Mithrun postcanon during his budding relationship accidentally fell asleep and Kabru tucked him in bed before joining, sleeping above the covers to not cross any lines 'cause there's only one bed (harharhar). In the morning, Kabru realizes his mistake as Mithrun's trying to mention it as they are walking somewhere. Kabru is brushing it off like no its fine you stayed the night, its no big deal. and Mithrun just cuts in and says a Bit too loudly, "No, it is a big deal. You are the first person I've slept with." and Yeah now everyones eyes are on them.
To clarify, Mithrun explains that as in a romantic/friend context instead of Canary lodgings/camps/dungeoning. This was the first time he's felt safe/trusting of the person he "slept with" (Dungeon Sultha hadn't even joined him in bed ever) and he's got a warmth in his chest now and a little hop in his step.

Another ficlet Im writing: How KBMS seduce each other at night, clothing edition.
Mithrun, who always has long sleeves and pants or a long smock of a nighgown (and sometimes pants underneath), decides one day when he's got nothing pressing to do to make "nicer" PJs which sums up to him properly sewing a midthigh slit into one of his old nightgowns. It works a bit too well and Mithrun plays each time off nonchalantly while Kabru is racking his brain on what he did or what caused the sudden change. This would occur after a few years into them living together most likely.
Kabru, on the otherhand, wears more clothes to bed. He runs a little hot ao after they are both comrortable he's usually only in shorts. One day he gets sick and remains bundled up for a week and the moment he's better Mithrun is not so subtly pushing him to wear less clothes to bed. At first its an almost self conscious thing like Mithrun thinking its a sign Kabru doesn't want Mithrun to see him naked, but then that dies into some irritation and frustration because after a while he knows Kabru does it randomly on purpose to have him be pushy and trying to strip him.
Needless to say they both play it off whenever they do this just to drive the other one a bit more crazy: the concept of "I know what you are doing" and "I'm not doing anything..." type of teases lives strong into their domestic life.

Kabru's got too much with elves and their views, but I can see Kabru warming to Mithrun easier than most others given his track record of listening/respecting him, his desire to kill off the remaining monsters, and after canon being a steady prescence to Kabru who probably craves stability and normalcy on the defeat of the demon and aftermath.
Mithrun takes a while to figure out his feelings, but once he does he is Off the Deep End. A quick crish becomes, ah, yes, Kabru, the one I love. And he lacks he shame or embarrassment to not constantly assert that because even if Kabru doesn't return the feeling, Mithrun likes feeling it, wants Kabru to know it while knowing Mithrun isn't trying to convince him to be in a relationship or anything. And Kabru, given his whole thing with Rin, is likely to just brush off the proclamations. Think:
Kabru: Welcome back from your expedition. You look well rested.
Mithrun: Thank you; I love you.
Kabru, guiding him to his office with a hand on his back: Did you want to finish your report now before you head home?
HOWEVER TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC this looks.... interesting. The Ex-Canary captain just simping for the royal advisor who doesn't give his affections a nod of acknowledgement or the time of day. Pattadol or Marcille might even approach Mithrun to check in, make sure he's okay, figure out why the hell Kabru hasn't just rejected him and is stretching this out when Mithrun's already been through enough--- And Mithrun's just? No, I want to confess. I'm saying it because I want to. If he doesn't feel the same way, fine. If he wants me to stop, that might be a bit harder, but I'm doing this because it makes me happy to do so. I want him to know I care. (I'm a sap for Mithrun developing "desires" which are just him acknowledging outloud the little things. He's hungry? Says it outloud even if he really doesn't feel the need to eat. Thinks for a second that something you are doing is practical? Yep he's now saying it. Blunt as hell but! progress)
I can imagine the first time anyone Notices Kabru might actually return his feelings is one day having a ring on and just not saying anything unless someone asks. Mithrun's just blank faced but this time he's kinda maybe almost smiling? Hard to say.
Imagining Mithrun helping Kabru move into the castle and upon seeing his low-quality, jerry-rigged things just... 'accidentally' starts breaking them with his teleportation magic. Oops. the bed missed the cart and is half in the ground. It's my mistake, I'll buy a new one. You know I have bad depth perception thats all it is. Suddenly Kabru's scrappy blanket and twin bed is a king bed with a dozen pillows. Kabru has the money or will in a bit, and he's insisting Mithrun Doesn't do this (mithrun doesnt believe he'd spend the money on nice things for himself so. no. he'll do it. its his mistake afterall.)
on the flip side Mithrun actually accidentally breaking something kabru has sentimental value in, probably something stuffed in a shitty chest thats hinges dont work properly and mithrun just knew it had to Go and didnt check the contents-- and he can See immediately the difference in Kabru's fond reluctance to the quiet pensiveness and dismissal because no, its fine, it didn't matter... and Mithrun staying up long hours to try and fix it, haunted by the dullness that flashed in Kabru's eyes because it looked all too familiar. He's lost so much, he knows what it feels like to have things ripped from you or taken without being able to stop it. he knows that very well. He didn't mean to take anything from Kabru. He'll fix it or find someone who Can
Pokopia memes are getting to me. Kabru would have the most user friendly layout- every pokemon is in a proper place, it makes sense thematically and he rarely changes anything once it is set. Special attention to Cubone, but also Psyduck because it's the direct Pokemon alive. He's just confused. Kabru vibes with that.
MITHRUN's Pokopia though. Kabru comes to check it out and is like oh, where are they? The mines, Kabru. No functioning society runs off giving all the cozy life. They must work for their survival. "This is the zoo" That's a little fucked up, Mithrun. If any Pokemon get on his bad side for whatever reason he sends them to a life of hard labor. Has no attachments to any Pokemon, but seems to have a dislike for Tangrowth.

Priest Kabru who tries any means necessary to save the people who attend his church from, what appears to manifest to him as, the end days. He tries to make a deal with a demonic force in a last ditch effort, trying to reason he will be able to find a loophole or outsmart it somehow, but instead of that wretched hand, a decaying hand of a dead man appears from the basement floor, clasping Kabru's in a tight grop, and sopping mop of grey, stringy hair emerges and a gouged eye, and the deal is sealed not with the demon, but one of his victims who clawed his way up after being dragged down once his own deal was complete.
Kabru doesn't need that Things help, the creature who rose says, and the more he calms his frantic heart, Kabru can make out that it's nothing more than a man. "I can help you, but we have to work quickly."
as a moomin lore whore, learning about Novelist Mithrun is reminding me of one of my favorite quotes written in a in-universe characters memoir, "I had now found my first friend, and so my life was truly begun."
Now imagine that being the first line of the memoir Mithrun's been struggling to write for years as he's trying to find reason and desires again. The catalyst being that he's now met Kabru, now he's not as alone in this, and now he's got the support to open and create a new book in his life.
