"1977. After a recent arrival in the states, British proto-punk band Average Joe experiences a rocky restart. For their lead vocalist and frontman, Derek Sutherland, this means a fresh start as an attempt to patch up his marriage and survive in the wilderness of the New York scene. For the band, it means a chance to make it in the big leagues. After an association with a down on it's luck nightclub proves valuable, the band begins their climb upward to the world of smoke and mirrors, nearly leaving Derek in the dust. However, a health scare launches Derek into a route of grief and self discovery, just as the band begins to kick off. At a time where success depends on action, he turns a blind eye to his growing problems for the sake of the band. But soon enough the consequences of those actions take their toll."
