Bourbon Cranberry Orange compote ready to go! This stuff is also great on icecream and makes a killer turkey Croque Monsieur.
It’s just 12 oz fresh cranberries, 1/4c bourbon, 1/2c fresh orange juice, and 3/4c sugar simmered until it thickens.

It has snowed and Kiri is not amused that I made her go outside for a bit.
Toe beans!
Made New Years Day Spam okonomiyaki, it was so decadent and delicious 😊
I’m not convinced this is a comfortable way to lay but she seems to like it 😁

Restocking and got my all time favorite the Mocha Borgia, it’s got a orange wedge squeezed and dropped in so you get this creamy chocolate orange flavor that’s just delightful.
"i wanna be the person i needed when i was her age”
I hear other adults who also suffered as kids talk about how we want to be the person we needed when we were young. And it is beginning to dawn on me that on the other side of that choice are the people who needed someone, didn’t have that person, and instead of choosing to be that person when they grew up, they chose to perpetuate cruelty and selfishness.
And they act like they are tough and strong and powerful because they don’t let anything get to them … but that’s all a lie they tell themselves.
The truth is, they’re weak and afraid. And when they can’t sleep at night, they know it. And the scariest thing in their reality, the thing they will run from their entire lives, is that they will be found out and exposed.
It takes courage and strength, vulnerability and dedication to be the person you needed, because when you are that person for someone else, part of you remembers and relives that you never had that. The people who choose indifference or cruelty aren’t strong or courageous enough to allow themselves to feel that pain all over again, so they just inflict it on others. They know they’re weak, they know that beneath the mask they are afraid. So all they have is cruelty, which is honestly the easiest thing in the world. It’s the path of least resistance for the people of least courage.
Being cruel is so boring. It’s lazy. Anyone can be cruel. It takes real hard work to be kind.
Make the choice to be the person you needed, and commit to doing the work. Practice it, and break the cycle.
I spent a day wandering around Ellon and the outside of Ellon Castle gardens as it’s only open on the weekends, there is just a little bit of the castle left. It was so interesting that most of the homes didn’t have numbers they have names.
Got to spend 2 weeks on vacation in Aberdeenshire & Edinburgh Scotland and London England so will be posting some photos from the trip starting with New Slains castle in Cruden Bay!
You can walk out to where it is on the cliffs and walk through, it was fascinating trying to figure out what was where and what was original or added later.
Got to go out for the evening, we started at Southpark Seafood for cocktails I had the Forgive & Forget it’s vodka based with lemon and cassis that was not only beautiful but also delightful.
After drinks we went across the street to Shigezo Izakaya and I had the Shi Abu-Ramen it has a sea salt, garlic, and chili sauce with bean sprouts Napa cabbage, fried gyoza skins, green onions, Chasu pork, tempura puffs, and a soft egg.
This was so delicious the chili had just enough heat to make it warming, the soft eggs made it super rich, the Chasu pork was super tender and flavorful, and the crunchy gyoza skins were a great counterpoint to the soft flat ramen noodles. It’s a well balanced dish, I ate the whole thing.

It snowed last week and into the weekend, I really love how it looks clinging to the branches of the trees and shrubs and the bursts of color from the barn other buildings tucked into a frosty white blanket or the piercing blue sky when it’s clear.
My dogs LOOOOOVE it too!
My kitty not so much, she doesn’t want to miss out so she’ll come outside with me but she’s first to the door when it’s time go back inside 😁
We did a rage room!
This was so much fun, it was at OutRaged Rage Room in Vancouver, WA. You pay a fee safety gear up and they give you buckets of stuff to break. There were a lot of bottles, plates, VHS, CDs, cups, etc.
If you break all the stuff that comes with the base fee and still have time left you can purchase additional items to break. The guys in our group got us an HP printer and we destroyed that thing 😁.
This is a lovely interview with the creators of Illimat, Gloom, The Adventure Zone, among others. This was such a fun and entertaining conversation they didn’t go too much into the mechanics but more about the culture that’s grown around Illimat and changes in the overall culture of tabletop and the influences on the design.
The crew has a fantastic conversation with Jenn Ellis and Keith Baker of Twogether Studios - talking about Illimat 2nd edition and where you
The 2nd Edition of Illimat is up for pre-order.
Also really excited to check out their new game Cool, Cool, Cool!

Picked up my copy of Season of the Bruja from Powell’s this week! It’s written by Aaron Durán in Portland, Oregon who has self published other comic titles La Brujeria, Dark Anna and the Pirates of Kadath, as well as writing for Dark Horse, Image, and Activision. Aaron is also the author of The Forgotten Tyrs series, and many other projects. One of which is co-hosting the podcast Geek in the City, it’s a weekly show common topics are local events, comics, Star Wars, Star Trek, tabletop gaming, D&D, Legos, working in retail, etc. The show is available on most if not all the major streaming platforms.
Illustration was done by Sara Soler in Barcelona, Spain I’m not familiar with her other work but she does beautiful work, the art is wonderful and the story is engaging and well structured. I’m a little sad I read it all in one go to be honest.
The last big thing we got to do was the studio tour, it’s changed so much! I mean yeah it’s been like 20 years but even so I found it far more entertaining now than I did as a teen. It still has some of the classic old west sets and the flash flood.
Seeing so many of the vehicles from various productions was really cool, my favorite was Mr. Bean’s car 😁
Can’t forget the Jaws jump
There was quite a bit of new as well, that last time I was at Universal King Kong wasn’t 3D and pretty sure Fast n’ Furious was where Backdraft was, but the subway station is still there and still a really amazing practical effect.
The new setups from newer movies were really interesting to ride through and learn about as well. It could just be age but I definitely found the tram tour more interactive than I did as a teen.
We did have a bit of a hiccup though our tram died coming out of Fast n’ Furious and we sat there for quite awhile until they could send another tram out to pick us up, but we got a fast pass for it, and I feel that was fair.

Had to kinda push just a bit to get my group to go to the Waterworld show, I saw it way back when I was in high-school in the 90’s and is still one of the best live action stunt shows ever IMO.
It’s just they’re acting while moving between being down on the water, under the water, in the air, on the upper level of the structure, etc.
Then there are the vehicles they have to maneuver in a pretty small pool with all the equipment in the water for the effects, and you add in the fighting, falls, pyrotechnics, and a full sized plane crashing and its just amazing how almost effortless they make it look.
The Krustyland ride was a lot of fun, I believe it was the Back to the Future ride so it’ll feel familiar to anyone who’s been on that.
