Today is National Coming Out Day and while I haven’t had to come out any less often this past year I think it’s starting to get easier. Over this past year I feel like most of my friends and family have come to terms with me being myself and accepted me for it. I started a TikTok where I now have a community of thousands of supportive friends around the world. And I finally took part in the Movement that is Dinah Shore Queer Girl Weekend where for once in my life I could dance and be truly myself surrounded by people that respected and understood me. As I look into this year I’m excited to keep building my queer community and continue to encourage my motto of “be you.” To my gaybys out there, people are going to be mean and people may leave but the people that stay with you while you are truly yourself are the ones that matter.
