Bronson Norris Murphy (with Meghan Picerno & Sean Thompson)

the great thing about HD pictures (and just looking at pictures from a movie) is you notice details that you were previously oblivious to before, like:
damn it’s tiny Yes, because that’s the face of a young man eager to kill a queen and ascend her throne. There are two explanations for this: either Disney was hinting at him being redeemable and he only became evil due to circumstance, or someone is a very sly animator playing games with us
Other stuff I can see:
-There’s no snow storm surounding these two (in fact, it calmed down when Elsa collapses for the news on the “dead” of the annoying sister of hers). So Hans’s face doesn’t have a reason to look discomforted to either Elsa or himself (It’s difficult)
- Sad face when Elsa isn’t looking???? Why??? He is “hungry for power”kind of guy, he is “the devil and the worst”. Hans, MAYBE, for some reason, shows some care??? I guess he does.
Conclusion: He’s not evil at all, he is a douche and all that but he’s not evil. Hans is just a youngster who got lucky for NOT suceed in getting his hands full of blood. Really, the consequences for that are truly fucked up, specially in the psychologycal way.
Disney, leave the SAMO agenda, reflect on the fact that you forgave a thief (in Eugene/Flynn Ryder) you turned a swindler into a dirty (pig) cop (in Nick Wilde… for some reason) and made a movie “justifying” the acts of an evil, real deal villainess who made it because she could (Malefica… once again just because money) and REDEEM, at least REDEEEM THIS PRINCE from the most fucked up place in their universe (We got worse in our one place)
At least try, you can still get money and make FAR MORE INTERESTING STORYLINES that can be worthy
This was likely the result of rushed production and confusion among the animators on whether Hans is supposed to be a wholly evil character. I can imagine it went something like this:
Animator: -animates Hans pitying Elsa-
Disney: What are you doing? he is the villain!
Animator: Oh sorry I’ll reanimate it.
Disney: No, we don’t have time for that! Keep it in but we’ll add another scene where he’s smirking manically before he decapitates her! That way the audience will know he is 100% evil.
Later in his life, Hans would write and publish The Snow Queen, basing the titular character on Elsa, Gerda on Anna, Kay on Kristoff, and the goblins on the trolls, etc. He really admired the sisters, which is why the tale also has many significant female characters. For a pen name, he mixed his own with “Kristoff,” “Anna,” and “Sven” to sound like “Hans Christian Andersen.”

Hercules is actually such a profound movie
Like I can't say I'm not biased, it's been my favorite Disney movie for practically my entire life. I was three when it came out and became instantly utterly obsessed with it.
But re-watching it over the past week, several things have occurred to me.
It may have the most emotionally complex second act low point of any Disney Renaissance film.
Within 24 hours
- Hercules is told that he's not a true hero yet by Zeus (his biological father)
- He falls out with Phil (his surrogate father) after Phil tells him that the girl he's in love with has been playing him for a sap
- 5 minutes later, Hades pops up and talks him into giving up his strength for the next 24 hours, on the condition that Meg will be safe from harm
- immediately after making said deal, discovers that Meg HAS been a double agent this whole time and has his heart broken
- he has lost pretty much everything and is practically suicidal, to wit
- when all hell breaks loose in Thebes, he goes out to fight, knowing he will probably be killed because he feels he has nothing left to lose and allows himself to be beaten up and publicly humiliated
- When he IS almost killed by a falling pillar, Meg saves him and is crushed herself. This gives him back his strength because Hades promised she wouldn't get hurt, but she dies as a result.
She dies.
MEG D I E S.
In fact this movie may be what helped me understand the CONCEPT of death as a child.
The scene where Hercules plunges into the Styx to retrieve Meg's soul, rapidly aging in as the water literally sucks the life out of him may be one of the greatest sequences in animated history.
Something that really hit after I learned the mythology of Hercules when I was older - Hercules also dies in this movie.
In actual Greek mythology, Hercules dies after having his mortal skin stripped off with poison, leaving only the immortal being underneath.
Likewise I'm Disney's film, Hercules dies in the Styx. He is restored to immortality through the virtue of his sacrifice.
Most Disney couples are willing to die for each other, but Hercules and Meg DID.
God give me courage to show you, you are n o t a l o n e …
