Started from a sketch and now we're here

Something personal …. I’ve gone threw some shit and I can’t say I’m “healed” buuuut despite 2025 being a shitty year, losing my cat, family members having serious health problems, watching my friends go threw so much shit they never deserved, and witnessing the state of our world… I still found hope. I still saw beautiful and amazing things that year. I made new friends and got my art spark back! I watch my friends grow and improve despite the hell that they where in. I watch the world fight back in ways that they could ….

And I was able to find a little bit of my past self. One who wasn’t full of social anxiety and self hatred. Granted she was only with me for a little bit but it gave me hope that if I can feel that way again then I’ll keep trying. And cling onto it like hell!

There is a lot more I wanna say about this piece and stuff but I’ll save that for another day.

I hope this year is kind and gentle to you all. And if there is any kind of hardship, I hope it makes you stronger or gives you courage to bite back at it!

Hey, me posting something that isn’t fanart for once! The idea came to me during this summer, while I was driving back home late at night. I grew up around corn fields and rural farms, so seeing them was nothing new to me, but there was always this creepiness to them. It always felt like something was going to come out and grab ya. Plus getting lost in the fields is an entirely different story… don’t recommend that.

So it’s weirdly ironic that while I was drawing this illustration my community was actually coming together to stop a real life horror. Big tech companies were trying to set up data centers in our area. The type that uses a huge amount of water to cool all the AImachines. Not only do these centers take away valuable water sources, they produce terrible fumes, harm the environment and push communities down the drain. Whither it be housing or farmers land.

Aaayyyyy finally did some Sleep Token fanart. I wanted to design Sleep in a “human” form, since we don’t really have any true idea what they look like. I really wanted to give Sleep a water like feel, while also being somewhat uncanny but beautiful enough that yeah if my heart was broken I’d fall for this deity too. Sleeps already got Vessel in their -clutches … jaws… teeth … chokehold…

Really enjoyed the movie, actually wish it was longer but I understand not everything is going to come to light when working on projects like this. Though I did wish we got to see more of Rumi kind of losing it in her demon form. The movie did a good job with its subtle references to some of the dangers that come with being a k-pop artist. That and placing all your love on a band. And it made me think about Perfect Blue and how it talks about how the fans perceive artist in a dangerous light. And the blur of reality on who we are.

So naturally I wanted to draw Rumi in that iconic pose … not realizing until I was actually finished with the pic that there is a Rumi character in Perfect Blue!!! Mimas adviser, who also used to be a J-pop artist!!!
