Šarena Džamija (the Painted Mosque) | Tetovo, North Macedonia
Unlike most mosques of it’s time, which were funded to be built by Pashas, Beys, or Sultans, the Šarena Mosque was financed by two sisters in Tetovo, Hurside and Mensure. The Mosque is known historically and today for it's bright floral tiles and unique designs.
The mosque was originally built in 1438 and later rebuilt in 1833 by Abdurrahman Pasha.
